Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info
Eh. Brawl is going to be awesome no matter what, and the feelings of missed opportunity aren't going to last long as far as I'm concerned. I played Melee the other night and it still felt 100% awesome, so I'm not too worried with a game that seems like it is 100 times bigger.
Here here!
You can trade them via friend system, but you can submit them to Nintendo and they'll send out one user made map a day. The weird thing is the map you download will be erased the next day.
Will the ones sent over friend systems have an expiration date or just ones from Nintendo?
Will the ones sent over friend systems have an expiration date or just ones from Nintendo?
the one's sent via friends shouldn't expire.

Thanks for the vid post again. For some reason it made me more anxious for the US release considering there will be less sweaty-sausage smash fests thanks to the online play (hopefully). So long smelly kid.

Snake still looks out of place for me.

And one question, can you shield when someone uses their super smash? Or is it pretty much fubar once someone breaks open a smashball. Forgive me if this has been answered already.

Called the Anaheim, CA GS. When I asked if they were doing any kind of event for Brawl, she said she didn't know..."yet." I guess that means she knows of other stores holding tourneys, but nothing scheduled for that one so far. She did say I should keep calling in case she does hear news. Mayhaps I will...O:)

Anyone else feel like they are going to be sick of Smash Bros by the time it comes out?

I'm trying my hardest not to look at anything. But I feel that I've seen everything, it's gonna remove some of the fun...

Just a small off topic post, but HAPPY V-DAY! My mom got me some Kit-Kat's and some Reese's (thanks mum!) and I was about to eat one when I noticed....THEY'RE ALL SMALL!!! The resse cup was in the big packaging, but the cups were little bigger than the fun sizes! And my kit-kats have shrunk a bit too. WHY DO THIS TO US!! Whats next? Frozen Pizzas(it has happened!)?

No.

I will never be sick of Smash Bros.

Ive been only occasionally lookin in this thread so as to avoid spoilers, i really haven't had that much spoiled b/c i don't go to the dojo and don't really talk about it too much.

What happens in galaxy when you get 120 stars was ruined for me so since then I've been more careful about checkin stuff out for upcoming games.

WHen is the release date again?

I ruined 120 stars for myself too, but it really wasn't important.

03/09.

Same here. However my friends had a short boost of interest in melee, then it died down slowly. Everyone wanted to play the newer games and I believe they thought melee was just too "dated". This could've been due to many other factors as well. Though I'm hoping that the addition of online play will greatly increase the gameplay lifespan of smash to longer than a couple months.

Now that I think about it, I'm glad the advanced techs are mostly out. I'm sure my friends were less than interested in learning these complicated moves and just wanted to play. Though, it'll be a tough time trying to get all that wavedash crap out of my head.

I keep forgetting to look at the dojo. But that update about the quick techniques was pretty cool. That stale-move negation sounds like a great addition to the system. And the pivot grab sounds like a great move to juke out shielded/spot dodging opponents.

I've always been sick of it; post N64 smash.

I initially was interested more in the game pre-japan release, but now I just can't find any way I can give a shit.

If I can still play Melee after six years, and have a reasonably fun time with it, I don't think I'll have to worry about burning out on Brawl. Well, I guess I actually don't have that much fun playing Melee now...because I know that Brawl is coming out next month. :)

I'll probably be playing this game for a very long time I already have this pre-ordered and only thing I spoiled myself is with a few new characters and after that I haven't really looked into this game much except for deals on it also I'm keeping an eye out for a official soundtrack for this game on playasia I hope they'll have one since the music is so nice to listen too.

I'm hoping my local GS will have something like a SSBM tourny or SSBB tourny and maybe some givaways or prizes like stickers, T-shirts with game logo or something..
That tourny sounds like a toss up. And when they say crystal covered, is it the plastic girl stuff or real diamonds?
You have to ask? Seriously? In that case, I'm sure they'll be real diamonds.
I'm sure they'll be real diamonds.
Not only that, but the Wii will also be dipped in platinum, and will have your name engraved in the side, right next to a picture of you being laughed at for thinking that the Wii would come with real diamonds.

Opponents who set foot in the Negative Zone are plagued by a random assortment of effects including:
 • Drastically reduced attack power
 • Greater launch distance when hit
 • Increased likelihood of slipping
 • Steady increase in damage percentage
 • Flower growth on head
 • Dizziness
 • Uncontrollable taunting
 • Sudden sleepiness
 • Decreased movement speed
...And so on.

Sounds like the side effects to some medication.

And I MIGHT go to the LA one, but there no guarantee on getting a copy early so I might pass since I already played it at E for All, I can wait an extra week.

Or maybe mushrooms.

Note: What is the above called? I forgot.

Yea very true.

You guys are right. Thanks. Now I don't feel guilty looking at all the Smash Bros stuff.

I've been so tempted to whip out Melee, but I don't want to unlock everything again. So I am just waiting for Brawl.

i actually sat down and played melee for an hour last night. Honestly, in my mind, I kept saying,"Brawl is gonna be SOOO much better"

I was going to be in L.A. that day anyway, so I say, "Hey!" [/rhymes]

Hopefully there aren't too many campers...

It had crossed my mind to take a vacation and drive cross-country to one of the remaining 3 tournaments depending on the ruleset that becomes public after the one this weekend.

I'm not a big enough Smash Bros. geek to even think of doing competitive play. Maybe if this was SSFIIT, and I was back in my young days when I used to hustle people for quarters to play longer.

It's strange there are tourneys when Brawl isn't even out in the US yet.

Wanna get a competitive edge? import it XD

Ok, so I put $5 down at Best Buy today. It is going to be my graduation present. So what are these Masterpieces? Is it something on the disc of Brawl or is it in the WiiWare right now? I am confused. I haven't been following this game that much. I am not even a huge SSB fan, but I really want to play my Wii more and play it online! Prepare to dominate me. :D

i'm a competitive player myself i was thinking with the new online feature people can bet on Wii Points for Virtual Console Games with the new Wii Gift Point Feature

i really can't wait for brawl the game is going to be amazing people complaining it different from melee and the pros have to re-learn everything well i think thats a good thing because when people went from ssb64 to melee everything change and it was getting the same rap.

I wonder how well the Thrustmaster works with Smash Bros? I do have some Gamecube controllers but none are wireless. I never invested in the WaveBird either... I like rumble.

If any of you guys read anything about it, let me know.
