Early tournaments where no one knows how to play yet. Kinda like the Gamestop ones.

I imported Double Dash back in the day and won a free copy at a Gamecrazy thing, and I won my copy of Soul Calibur 3 at a University tournament that first weekend. While I hadnt played it much, Cassandra played similarly enough for me to take it.
 
It depends on how many more units over the number of preorders that are ordered by Gamestop. That varies, you never know how dumb they are going to be about it.

I dont see a real shortage though. Worst case you could just go to Best Buy the next morning, or probably Walmart at midnight.
 
Best Buys will, I just checked. I plan on going to the biggest name non game retailer thats holding a midnight release
 
Beef, DMK, Spydey - thoughts on the level creator? Have you guys unlocked everything yet (I ask, even though I know DMK most certainly has)?
 
I actually havent touched the level creator. Theres still a lot of blue screens on that unlockable screen, but they seem to be mostly things like trophies. I think I have all the major stuff though: songs, characters, stages.

I had intended to save the completionist unlocking for the English version. Collecting things isnt as fun when you cant read what it is that you have.
 
That's kinda surprising. I would have thought the level creator would have been the first thing you played with.

But then again, I guess that's not that surprising. Brawl is like the central room in a Zelda dungeon - so many doors to go through that you either pick a random door or get crushed by the collective weight of all those choices.

I've wanted to use that line for a while, by the way.

Nope, I hate creating levels and characters. I always just go with the default. Sorry. The most I played with it was I went into it once. I've unlocked all the characters.

Creating levels is not a favorite of mine either. Im really only going to playing through the story and do whatever I can to get all the maps.

I didn't bother pre-ordering. Maybe it will be a mistake on my part, but I feel like a lot of places will have more than just their pre-orders lying about. Will I end up with nothing on Sunday?
 
I haven't used the level editor yet, mainly because I don't read japanese. Sure, it's not really required to use it, but I'd like to not have to stumble through gibberish just to place a block somewhere.
 
So I walk into GameStop today and there's a crowd of people.
I see what's going on, and there's these guys playing Brawl.
One's playing as Fox and the other as Peach.
I ask to see if there is a line, and they say there isn't, so I could go next.
Their match is over, I'm set to finally play!
I choose King Dedede and we're about 10 seconds into the match and the GameStop employee says that the dude who brought his modded Wii has to remove it because they have to hook up a PS2 for god knows what reason.

So there's my story. :wall:

The guy who brought the Wii used a Controller/Nunchuck. I, however, was using a wavebird.

Super smash bros. brawl is a big release and I'm sure there will be plenty of copies at stores if your really worried make sure you go at openning or close to it also If you leave later I'd be sure to call the store your going to and ask if they have it and how many they have etc..

It's probably worth remembering that there are a lot of stores that didn't take preorders at all. Sure, you might not get it at midnight, but if you go to a Target they'll have plenty of copies when they open at 8AM.

That said, I'm still going to give reserving it a shot and see if I can get in on the GameStop action on Saturday night. I figure it couldn't hurt to try. :)
 
I just read on ign there rating it at the 3 in the morning. What is the point of them mentioning that instead of them just rating it? anyway it good news hope it gets good reviews.

I bet it's too late to preorder. I might drop by Circuit City tomorrow. But really... I'm just going to go to the store early Sunday morning, get my copy, and play it all day / night.

Can't wait.

Me too. But I "had to" in order to sign up my brother for the tournament. Absolutely ridiculous considering I was in there a week earlier and was the first person on the sign up sheet.
