Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info
I like how many of the "features" of Brawl are basic revisions of older features--just done better. I like that in many ways they're not reinventing the wheel, but they are doing it ten times better.
Exactly. They're doing some innovative things, but a lot of what they're doing is perfecting the older parts of the game.

The term acheivements has really tried to extend itself beyond what it actually means.

These are unlockables. Achievements are specifically defined as a xbox live point system that is external to the game, even if it is tied to in-game unlockables occasionally.

These are not that, and its disingenous to call it so.

Well, technically:

a·chieve·ment (ə-chēv'mənt) Pronunciation Key
n.
 1. The act of accomplishing or finishing.
 2. Something accomplished successfully, especially by means of exertion, skill, practice, or perseverance. See Synonyms at feat1.

I'd say an unlockable qualifies. Then again, this whole debate is silly.

Completely paid off my pre-order for Smash today.

I'm excited since this is the first Smash game I'm really going to try to learn. My brother is pretty good at the game, so I can practice against him.

Crazy to think that this game is only a month away. Excitement.

It came out yesterday.

it came out today lol I bought all the copies thats why they aren't at the store.

Challenges look great. So does everything else. This game wins.

guys guys guess what if zero suit samus uses her final smash, she becomes "corrupt"...kinda like if you attack once thier dead but every second her damage rises by like 10 damage. plus i heard (not sure this is true) that pikachu can evolve this time into raichu.

I give this troll at 2 out of 10...atomic bombs.

Ya know, it would have been really cool if Pikachu evolved into Raichu via final smash ala Samus to ZSSamus. Now, I hope that some unannounce secret pokemon character will do that.

Not sure if this has been posted, but I got the word today at work that (according to our game vender), SSB Brawl will be delayed another month. They mentioned "March 10th" and supposedly got in trouble with Nintendo for telling their buyers.

Sucks because we were planning on having a SSB Brawl tournament at our store. (Play N Trade here in Cary)

Of course I have no way of proving this without the actual email, but I thought I would mention it to keep folks from burning down their local gamestores when they go to pick up their pre-orders in a few weeks. (the vender was Ingram)

Looks like the word is spreading:

If this is nothing new... please ignore. :)

Did Jigglypuff have an evolved form or something in the new games? If that's how Jigglypuff returns, as an evolved form, I'd totally be cool with that. The thing is, I don't see them having Jigglypuff evolve as part of a Final Smash. Pikachu, maybe. Not Jigglypuff. Jigglypuff would probably just be permanently replaced with its evolved form.

You know, it's Nintendo and I trust them, so I'm sure they'll come up with something... but really, what in the hell are they going to add to the next-gen Smash Bros to top this?

Honestly?

They may not, Nintendo had to fund a new division to get the creator back on board. He may have no interest working on another SSB.

Altough the one SSB a generation is wokring well, the team could move to a DS version. Making a portable version that works would be a challenge as portable fighting games have been largely an exercise in futility.

These rumors are really starting to scare me. I don't know if I'll be able to survive another month without playing this game. I played about ten different games today, and the whole time I was playing, all I could think was "I don't want to be playing this, I want to be playing Brawl."
Ugh. Why delay it...for what?
Exactly!! The first delay was understandable. When did we find out about the "Dec to now February" delay? Wasn't that in October? That was a good 2 months BEFORE the release date..we are actually less then a month away. Why would they do this?
Of course, this is if all these rumors are true. I'm going to wait until one of our updates states it like it did the last time we had a delay.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Due to delays in the completion of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, we’ve had to change the release date of the game to Sunday, March 9th.

I deeply apologize to the people who have looked forward to playing the game for so long and ask that you hold on just a little longer. Thank you for your patience.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: I just checked the Japan site, their new release date is 1/31...Ohhh an extra week!!
I'm so pissed right now.

If they had to delay it to add those awesome rain effects, I'm all for it.

I hope there's thunder and lightning too.

1/31 for Japan!?!?! God dammit! I never thought I could hate NoA more than I already do, and yet... Ugh. And I'm going to have to avoid the internet for over a month now, which will never happen, so I'll end up being all spoilered. fuck fuck fuck.

if theres a delay im fine with it, id rather they take time to make the game great instead of rush it out with flaws here and there
I still would prefer a portable version of this series. even if it's a port of the N64 version I'd be happy.
i still think well see a ds version before all is said and done.

Waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, the Japanese version isn't delayed as well?

WTF?
It's a fighting game!

Person above is right, it's going to be spoiled to hell.

There better be NA bonuses!

You know what really confuses me.

Before with the release dates of 1/22 (that was Japan's original date..right?) and 2/10 there was only like 3 weeks difference. That's not too big. But now there's like 6 weeks. That's A LOT. Are they still going to continue to update the site AFTER the Japanese version is released?

What sucks is that with the 6 weeks that the Jap version is out until we get ours..all of the secrets/spoilers will be all over the internet and they will be kinda hard to avoid. But then again, I do feel for Europe

UGH.
MAD.

Now excuse me, I have Japanese people tp RAPE
if theres a delay im fine with it, id rather they take time to make the game great instead of rush it out with flaws here and there
Shut up with your logic!! Can't you see I have anger!?!

Also sadness. So much sadness.

Jigglypuff has had an evolution since Day 1, Wigglytuff.

Also I'm pissed, there goes my birthday present to myself.

Again, I blame NoA. Clearly this is the fault of their localization department. If anything this delay should give them time to catch up.
Now excuse me, I have Japanese people tp RAPE
Get a few for me.
Also I'm pissed, there goes my birthday present to myself.
Me too. Mine's on the 9th. The first delay I was okay with since it fell so close to my birthday. This one makes me sad.
Cheer up. You've got more time for other stuff.

February was crowded anyway.
February is dead to me. Without Brawl it is thirty days of misery.

Okay, that's enough hyperbole for tonight, I think.

I'm pissed and glad. Now I can plow through Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, Super Paper Mario, and (if this trade hopefully goes through) Zack & Wiki.

Brawl is more important, though.

I still contend that the game is done, I'm going to blame some combination of the following 3:

1) Disc supply issues
2) Wifi Server buffing
3) Localization issues.

The silver lining for me is that the Japanese delay is only delayed a week :whistle2:#

Oh shit.. Worms comes out in March too?!

I forgot all about House of the Dead too! See? Brawl is MUCH better being released in February.. :bomb: :bomb: GRRR

This would be really cool update if it wasn't for that little image off to the left of it.

Now I'm irritated. What the heck, Nintendo?! They can devote at least one person to translating these updates every weekday, but they can't get their crap together fast enough to not delay the game?!

*SIGH* ...I know, those things are really unrelated, and it's silly of me to compare the two. But that still bugs me.
