Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info
You are Captain N!
I don't know what the copyright issues around Captain N look like, but I would love to see him as an Assist Trophy, or at least as a collectible one.

Nice. I like the designs of these enemies. And the more I see of the Subspace Emissary stuff, the more convinced I am that the adventure portion of the game is really going to stand up on its own.

Nintendo's certainly bringing the meaty updates this week.

Some of those enemies looks pretty stupid/generic. Like something you'd see in a random third party n64 game like Glover. Especially the towel and bath tub enemies. The kirby style wheel is pretty cool, but why not just make those exploding ball enemies voltorbs?

"His unpleasant, fog-like enemy has a weak spot at the core of its chest!"

Given Sakurai's sense of humor, I imagine this is somewhat inetntional.

They really should have used enemies from the various Nintendo series instead of coming up with new ones. Who doesn't want to kill some Koopa Troopas with Link or Samus?

My birthday is tomorrow.
If tomorrow's update sucks, take it up with my mother. It'll be her fault.
If it's awesome, then you may thank me, for it will be my fault :D

Now if tomorrow's update is Peach related..such as Peach's final smash (We haven't had one of those in quite some time) then it's a sign that I need to buy 80 copies of the game.

EDIT: Last time we got a final smash update was Yoshi on Aug 23. I think it's time to see a new one.. such as Peach's :D
Pancake hat rabbits are stupid, you stupid.
While that's true, it's still an evil bathtub with treats inside of it. Couldn't we have just stuck to Goombas?

I actually don't mind the lack of voice chat.

In most 360 games, I leave my headset off, and mute most others.

And with friends, we can just use Skype or our 360's.

Well... just another "ok" update. Piplup... I'm foreseeing that the rest of the updates from now on are going to be pokemon. Well, at least you know for sure there are Diamond & Pearl pokemon in this game with Piplup being one of them.

Well, what did you expect? Online play is a tough act to follow. Nintendo doesn't seem to release more than one gem a week. I'm hoping we get a character tomorrow, most likely returning... Ness anyone?

Well, I'm sorry, I have higher expectations and would like something other than a pokemon assist.

And one question, was Ness an unlockable character in Melee? If so, I would doubt they'd reveal him just yet. So far, all 19 characters seem to be already unlocked, or default.

If they released more big updates regularly, people would only end up bitching about "boring" updates when they run out of big stuff to show off.

So you're saying Piplup is "boring"?

Well, of course I would bitch about it after being released a day or two after a big one. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

I spent countless hours in undergrad playing smash w/ friends. The game is great, and the solo campaign is fine, but what makes the game great is playing with friends.

Playing a friend online w/ no mic is hardly any better than playing the computer on a high difficulty setting. As a matter of fact it would be worse because you would want to talk/laugh/whatever so bad but couldn't.

In accordance with Bozon's article, Nintendo needs to get their shit together and enable us to talk to each other while we play smash.

I guess I'll take Piplup as a birthday gift. This most likely confirms Chimchar and Turtwig as Pokeballs (or different evolved forms of them)

Honestly, that's all I really want in an online fighting game. Especially Smash Bros since all my gaming friends just have 360's or PS3s anyway. I don't want to listen to smack talk from random people, and friends will only be playing if they are at my place, so it's a non-issue for me.

The lack of won/loss record from random matches is the only thing that disappoints me really. That and having game specific friend codes rather than just using the Wii system code.

well...peach was in one of the pics

anyways,
happy bday

Wow. Worth the wait for sure. Cardboard box move +1.

This is doubly awesome, as there isn't much left that has already been revealed through previous updates. Snakes stage and a couple of other things aside, all the updates from here on out will be new new.

CQC Hold or Honeymoon memories? YOU DECIDE!
lol at ike

i wonder how fast snakes guna move..
speed or mid character.. be december 3rd already!!!!

am I the only one who think he doesn't fit at all? o_O I mean I'll admit I'm not the "hugest" snake fan but some of the moves like the cypher camera thing and a Nikita rocket I dunno it just feels kinda uninspired to me. Had they given him limited active camo or something to work with his sneak attack that I could get behind but these moves seem meh.

But in Melee everyone from SSB was unlocked.
In accordance with Bozon's article, Nintendo needs to get their shit together and enable us to talk to each other while we play smash.
I believe that article was Matts.. (minor note)
am I the only one who think he doesn't fit at all? o_O I mean I'll admit I'm not the "hugest" snake fan...
I would agree that there is a certain aesthetic to Smash and it's characters. Which is why I can see people wanting certain characters like Pit, Megaman, and Sonic. I don't get people who want characters like Jill Valentine or Ryu from SFII. They just don't fit. Snake as a character I would place him in the later category but from what I've seen it looks like they're making him fit. More like Link in SCII rather than Spawn in SCII.

MGS has a sense of humor so it's okay. I still remember MGS2 when Snake sneezes and the vast army of Marines turn around and spot him.

And a billion fanboys cried out at once in joy and rapture...

Not a huge Snake fan, but his moves look amazing. Love the music too. Can't wait to see his home stage.

Looking at this week's updates (online, enemies from Subspace, Snake-o-rama) it's patently obvious Nintendo was trying to steal a little TGS thunder. And I think they succeeded.
I'm wondering if they'll put unlockables on the website as well. But in Melee everyone from SSB was unlocked.
save for jigglypuff and luigi

Yay for this update!

The theme sounds really, really good, but I didn't hear any of the characteristics of the original MGS theme mixed in. Did I miss it? If not, I hope there's another theme that sounds more like the original.

WHOSE FOOTPRINTS ARE THESE?

..LOL. This is one of the coolest updates ever. :applause:

EDIT: And that MGS4 theme is gorgeous. I hope they put the MGS1 Duel (boss battle) theme in My Music.

I hear ya, but like Zen Davis said, Metal Gear has always had a pretty good sense of humor about itself. Ape Escape crossover, anyone?
