Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info
Thanks for spoiling a big part of Mother 3 Nintendo. WHY HAVEN'T YOU BROUGHT US THAT GAME YET?!?!?!?!?!
Because you did a lousy job of convincing your friends to buy Earthbound for the N64.

Speaking of which, why didnt Nintendo roll the dice and give a copy away like they did for Dragon Warrior? That promotion jump started the RPG fan base in America.*

*Yes I know they existed, but I'm fairly certain sales were dead prior to that promo.

SNES, not N64.

Dragon Warrior really didn't jump start the RPG fan base in America. It was still a niche until FF7. Dragon Warrior did jump start the Nintendo Power fan base ;)
That's Lucas, a recently encountered character expected to be a Ness clone/replacement.
What game universe is he from?
And yes, this stage is a HUGE spoiler for Mother 3. gg Nintendo
Can someone explain (in spoiler tags) what makes this stage a spoiler? I'm curious.

Nintendo is such a tease, putting this mother 3 stuff in. I want it so bad.
With huge stages like New Pork City I hope we get some sort of Big Brawl online mode for 6-8 players.
thats too many characters on screen, 4 is enough plus all the pokemon/assists the screen will be filled with enough crap already

If it's online then you don't need to have all of the characters on screen at once, it can be focused on your area with little icons pointing in the direction of the offscreen characters.

Regarding the Ultimate Chimera, observe the gray button on its back. It CAN be pressed in MOTHER 3 but could it be pressed in Brawl too?

Probably. But that bird is there for a reason too. :p

I wonder if a single Wii can support more then 4 controllers at a time for an 8 player mode battle/tag team mode.
You could theoretically use 4 Gamecube controllers and 4 Wii controllers at the same time but I don't know if the operating system allows 8 controllers to be used simultaneously.

I think it'd be a software update at best to run 8 controllers if even that. I think it would be too system intensive to have 8 chars/controls running at the same time but the tag team function could work since it isn't a system drain.

Stadium: Home Run Contest today.
Hit the sandbag the farthest! Wonder what other stadium events will be in this mode

Wow, the co-op sandbag and the shield is going to make for some new and complex strategies. How these certain characters emerged that could use glitches to pound the sandbag to absurd distances, even more crazy things will be found now. The online competitions sound awesome too. Good to know they're going in that much detail to allow online in side games like that too!

Man, this game just has replay value written all over it. Sure, no ranked matches are bad in a way, but think about it. We now have Sandbag competitions. I really see a lot of online tournaments running this type.

It's amazing how much online functionality Nintendo is building into this title--for them. It really looks like a watershed moment, when Nintendo finally realizes more and more people want online play. This bodes well for the future of other franchises.

If the game was designed from day 1 to have 8 characters on screen at once it wouldn't be a problem. If it wasn't, then it could be a problem.

The game can run as many characters as it wants.

The problem is the max controllers the Wii allows for.

PS3 can only have 7 wireless controllers playing at a time.
I don't know what the max is for the Wii, but I bet Madden would tell you.
i was thinking if they decide to use Mega Man, it def needs to be like Mega Man 2 mega man or one of the others from the NES. At the most maybe from the SNES X series. Any other Mega Man is just unacceptable.
pray tell what other Megaman is there. hm.. reminds me I need to get that Megaman collection.
If Nintendo were smart, they'd think about releasing a demo (I'm aware how difficult that would be and that it has next to no chance of happening) with an upcoming game they want to highly promote.

Fire Emblem would be a good choice.
easy as pie.. I like to call it the extra disc option. How hard is it to slip a disc in there.

Well, it certainly worked for Crackdown, which saw huge sales thanks to Halo 3's beta. Crackdown was actually a really good game, too. More companies should probably do this with their online games. CoD4? I think they offered it if you pre-ordered the game (in addition to signing up online), but they could have just as easily packed it in with another game.

sadly this is megaman now to a lot of people

i would flip shit if this blue puffball was in the game
Or better yet a tag team function for 8 man single system action.
now tag team is something I could get behind. Probably not going to happen until Smash 4 though. it gives me shivers just thinking about how awesome it would be to play tag team.

I'm completely unable to find a good clip of the 40 year old virgin talking about a bag of sand

Megaman should be done as a 2D sprite character just like the NES games. There's no other way to have this be accomplished correctly. All of his attacks would be Enemy Robot Attacks and it would win.

That's a limitation of bluetooth. Not a limitation of the Wii or the PS3.

I have heard, though, that you can daisy chain bluetooth devices, and each device could have 7 controllers attached to it.

In other words, you'd have, say, 4 Wiimotes syncing to the system itself. Then you have a "hub" that connects to the Wii. You can connect 4 more Wiimotes to that hub.

So 8 controllers.

Besides, you could also have 4 people playing with Wiimotes, and another 4 using the GC ports.

It's all possible, but I doubt it'll happen. I think of Smash as being hectic enough with 4 people on screen.

I do, however, think an 8 man tag team match would be beyond delicious.

Now here's the interesting part Megaman like Kirby gets his powers from enemies. What if Megaman got powers from the last enemy he killed, either that or if he special attack was 'absorb power' similar to Kirby's Swallow? I'm not sure which I prefer beating up Mario with Cutman's abilities of the titilating idea of beating up Mario with his own Fireball.
I'm completely unable to find a good clip of the 40 year old virgin talking about a bag of sand
you remind me of an episode of "Brother's Keeper" where the 'dumb football player' brother was referring to John McClane as "Die Hard" as in 'remember that scene when Die Hard was trapped in the elevator'

If they were to put a redone sequence of this into Brawl, I would have a never-ending erection.

I was just listening to "Live & Learn" from Sonic Adventure 2 (the song from the Sonic SSBB unveiling). I think it sounds remarkably similar to "We Die Young" by Alice In Chains.
