Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info

Midnight launches are generally for pre-orders only. It's also pretty fun, since you're with a group of people that are hyped about the same thing you are, so there's usually a lot to talk about. You can argue until you're blue in the face as to why Captain Falcon is more awesome than Samus, perhaps even lay down a challenge or two if they have stands going.

I feel your pain, i'm in northern KY and we got level 3 snow emergency everywhere right now. Level 3 is where they ticket you and stuff for being out so yea. I was supposed to be working all weekend so I was gonna get this after work tonight but now i'm off work and looking like I won't be heading out. I imagine the tournament is cancelled but if you did manage to show up you'd have really good odds of winning. This is the first time i've missed my gas guzzling SUV. :lol:

huh... maybe I'll walk over to Gamestop and pick up a copy after work. I mean, it is a minute long walk.

To be honest, I hope I have a late break/lunch so I can check out the festivities

Jezz.. these Smash Brother fanatics are crazy. I went to Bestbuy at Noho; there were 300 people standing in line with pouring rain at 1pm. I won't even bother waiting in line. I still remember those horrible memories when Circuit City gave out 100 ps3 at Union Square. The whole line smell like super body oder with large puddles of pee across the street. Combine that with strong winds whipping that smell back and forth with heavy rain, it's defiantly not a day you want to remember.

I took the easy way out, bought it at my local mom and pop store.

Ohio/Northern KYers might call your local store before trying to slide out tonight. My store just called and said tonight is cancelled cause of snow. 9am tomorrow they'll open to sell and have the tourney and stuff.

Question for the SSBB vets and those who download classic games. I will eventually download old games b/ since i have not done so yet i do not have the classic controller. GS is having a sale on the gamecube and classic controller. Can i use the gamecube controller to play down load games or do i have to have the classic?

Well, tonight is the night I try the Wiimote/Nunchuk option for the first time. If I get kicked out of the tournament, there's always the GC tournament, so at least I have my options. =D

i have another question since i currently do not own a wavebird, what method of play should i use? i am actively looking for one but if i dont get one by tommorow all i have is this,

why would u stand in line for 5+ hours to get a game u can just walk into the store 30 mins before? unless u didnt pre-order.

I'm glad I pre-ordered my copy. Already confirmed and will be there at midnight.

About 7. Yes, very, but I never get bored. I think I've fought Ridley like five times now. And I still don't have Sonic.

I didn't pre-order it.

I don't know why everyone is so down on camping out. I had a blast waiting in line for the Wii. You meet a lot of really cool people and just hang out with friends for a few hours. It's great. And even if everyone there just happens to be unpleasant, I'll have my DS and Melee to play. I've been looking forward to it all week.

Ugh, I hate GameFaqs. I heard some Game Stops won't even allow kids in unless they come witha parent due to it being curfew.
 
I'm thinking about picking up the guide - I'm not really sure why (maybe just cuz it's Brawl)

I've never bought a guide for a fighting game before - any ideas on what will be in or if it's worth picking up?
 
I'm getting caught up in the hype whirlwind (as I do with every major release), so I'll probably make a lame attempt at picking this up tomorrow.

Which will turn into an obsession when I can't find it.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. Every walmart should have copies ready 2 go. I asked an employee about it and she said to ask the person there at 12:01 and they'll get you one.

Speaking of Walmart, just talked to a friend and he said they have a brawl countdown timer out in the open.

I called up my local GS and said they'll have it tonight. I'm very excited!!!

I checked my e-mail, apparently GS has a coupon (in their weekly special e-mail) where you get 10% off any used Wii game with the purchase of brawl. Now granted the 10% off everything coupon is probably better but just a heads up.

Does anyone know what time you need to be at GS to register for the tournament, or is it at 10?
 
I still think that the first post in the thread should just be everyone's Brawl codes, just to save time between searching through other threads.

And the tourney start time is different with every GS. The one I'm going to said that people have to show up at 8 PM.
