I'm in the same boat... I've only rented SSB games in the past, and I was *so* freaking lost... But I've bought this one, and it's something I'd like to get good at... anyone have any n00b tips? I haven't even cracked it open yet.

I think we should wait a week or so at least to make sure everyone has things unlocked and for the online to settle down since it's still not the most reliable.

I'll do a tournament, but if it's gonna be one of them lame "NO ITEMS!!1!" tournaments count me out. Smash is about the fighting AND items.

hey riyonuk, sorry for not letting you join that game earlier, i accidently hit cancel, you didnt come back after that.


also, i havent tried it yet, but can you play with cube & wii motes? meaning can 2 of my buddies play with classic controllers and 2 with wavebirds at the same time, or is it one or the other?

Alright, when this thing says "Awaiting Registration", am I supposed to do something? Or is the guy on the other end supposed to do something? Or neither? Over half the people on my list are "Awaiting Registration".
 
I've put in about 9 hours so far, and so far I'm loving Ike, Shiek, and ZS Samus.

I've got about 5-6 more characters to unlock, and I have yet to try out SSE.
 
I am about 80% through SSE and I am stuck.

I went to every green/blue dot on my maze map, when there were about 6 left they all turned into Bowser icons. I completed all those until there were none on my map. Now I'm not sure where to go. I know there was a room with clouds that had all the characters in the game shown in the background but I can't remember where it was.

Can anyone help me figure out what to do next? :)

Its in the center of the map. There should be a single dot that does not have a line connecting it to anything else. Thats where you'll face Tabuu
 
Wow, SSE was horrible. It was great until the Great Maze. Ironic.


I only completed SSE at 83%, what could I have missed?

A shit ton. Did you get the rainbow crowns on every stage? If you only got the flags, you missed stuff...AKA stickers and trophies. I finished at 81%.

I really don't wanna go back. SSE really started to get to me at like the 65%-70% mark. IDK if I wanna go back to it...ever. Although playing it on co-op would be OK.
 
This has probably been answered but I'm not sure I have the time (or inclination) to go through 323 pages. Is this game kid friendly? ie can a 5 yr old play it? Been on the fence about picking it up since I am mostly a solo gamer. Any responses are appreciated. Thanks.

I'd say so. Does the 5 year old game a lot in general?

The co-op and multi-player would be great for a kid. You can also play in team battles with him or her and fight CPU.

Er yeah, I shouldn't explain. Get it.
 
Any of you up for some matches later tonight? Last night I played against Apossum and BlueLobster around 10PM central time and was only able to play like 4 matches before I had to quit. It was fun and I wouldn't mind doing it again (with any CAGs, of course)!:)

lol i swear i can't keep count of who i play with. But yea remember the sudden death ones ur good im so noobish but im getting better. Sonic is kinda uncontrollable but i found out personally if u account for that u will be ok and most of the time when u fly off the stage that spring jump gets u back u jump really high. Game is the best though. I'm gonna try adding more people later

Game is rated T for teen, but there is nothing in this game any different than what the average 5 year old watches on TV. When I was 5 I was watching Freddy movies and I turned out fine, just a little desensitized to burn victims with metal claws.
 
I live in Jersey, so to minimize lag, I want to add people that live in the northeast, and tristate people will be perfect. In terms of content, there's nothing worse than what you might find on a Nickeloedeon cartoon.

In terms of gameplay... well, the basics aren't too hard to learn IMO (move, jump, attack, special, and smash), but the chaotic nature of a four-player brawl could be overwhelming for some kids, IMO. My eight-year-old son is ambivalent on brawling so far because of that, though he prefers the Subspace Emissary mode because it's closer to a traditional Mario/Streets of Rage action game.

If you want to introduce a five-year-old to it, I'd say to turn on team mode and handicaps, so the kid can have the fun of clobbering everyone in sight and sending them flying. ;)

For people wondering, going for 100% in SSE isn't worth it. You don't get anything. I got 100% and I got no sticker, no trophy, no Challenge Window Break. Heck, I didn't even get a Notice about it.
