the end scene was the shit he should do a sequel before its too late. have them both fight someone who has pulled off becoming the one.
Well if I remember it was originally supposed to be The Rock in that film, so make a sequel with Li & The Rock.
^ this proves my point that the most negative reactions come from Alien fanboys.
Can't wait to read reviews after the new Blade Runner comes out.
I've talked to many Alien fanboys that have read the books and comics numerous times that enjoyed the movie, though they thought some stuff could be explained a bit better.
I'm also really looking forward to the new Blade Runner. The book and movie are both superb and any more to that universe will make me happy.
I loved it for about an hour. The look is fantastic, the case is great, the seed of an idea is outstanding sci-fi fun. But at some point along the way the studio conspired to give 2/3 of a movie and slice out everything that happened to connect interesting moments from the midway point on. I wasn't shocked to see the Blu-Ray advertised at the end of the credits - I'm 100% certain it'll be a "definitive Director's Cut" with a ton more scenes that make the second/third acts something more than the wham-bang nonsense it was.
I hate Damon Lindelof now, and I'm ashamed that I sat through the entire Lost abortion while he wrote it into complete mediocrity. He co-wrote this and his stupid "let's introduce a plot element for no reason, because it might seem cool!" and "let's have the cast say the most obvious/idiotic dialogue when it comes time to move the plot along!" are all over Prometheus. I actually felt bad for Ridley Scott, because the movie was beautifully set up, only to have ham-fisted character development and plot "twists" jammed in all over the place as it went along.
I couldn't figure out why the screenplay talked down to us with Charlize Theron's and Idris Elba's stupid proclamations (if you saw it, you probably know what I'm talking about) and the male doctor's reaction to their discoveries. Eh... what? What reality does Lindelof live in?
But seeing the final credit told me the studio will have more for us in October... which I'm thinking is the REAL version of the movie without a rushed second half. I guess we'll see, but I think this was a dishonest portrayal of the movie if that was their marketing plan from day one... and it still doesn't let Lindelof off the hook for the stupidity of the second half. Shame on you, Damon. If they keep offering you an opportunity to stupidify your favorite movie franchises, just say no. We've had enough of cadet Kirk going to captain on a ship he's not assigned to in about the span of a day, as well as the numerous specific problems that popped up in the second half of Prometheus.
Of course, this is just my opinion. Could have been great. Was ultimately not.
Watched Fright Night due to the discussion about it and I liked it.
It's a good movie, but I can see how people who are hung up on the original wouldn't like it, but those people probably wouldn't like any remake no matter how great it was.
Snow White and The Huntsman. I was pretty impressed. Much better than I thought and they really played up the fairy tale angle nicely without going too over the top.
Saw Prometheus. Definitely not what i was expecting after months of anticipation and obsession. Pretty cliche bs at points.but honestly. I loved it.I dont know exactly why. But the mystery and how it progressed without giving you too much is actually what I liked about it. Never been a huge fan of Alien either. Besides the first two movies they have all sucked bags of dicks. Its the strange universe of Alien that is the main draw really.meh.
finally finished limitless and damn the ending is sweet. great movie definelty a must see.
tried to watch drive and just gave up i just couldnt give enough of a shit but i did enjoy all the vice city music lol.comes off like a poor mans transporter.

Redbox has provided me with a few new watches recently:
Haywire- Terrible, terrible movie. All that talent in a movie and it's completely wasted. They literally withhold all plot until the last 10 minutes or so and while the reveal of what set off the whole chain of events is interesting, I was so ing bored with watching generic action movie fight after generic action movie fight I found it difficult to care.
The Grey- Severely let down by this one. I had high hopes for it and was really looking forward to finally seeing it but I found myself incredibly bored about 30-45 minutes into it. Then the last scene rolls around
and I'm thinking damn, maybe this whole movie is redeemed in this scene but NOPE we're gonna give you the ol' ambiguous ending for no conceivable reason at all. They needed to show a badass alpha/neeson fight to make the movie as badass as everyone seem to indicate, even if Neeson didn't win it wouldn't have felt like as much of a copout.
I really have no idea how it got ratings as high as it did.
There were some interesting moments but as a whole it felt like a very generic action/survival movie. It went through all of the traditional tropes and didn't bring anything particularly new to the table. One of the worst parts was
when one of the characters specifically mentions that wolves don't attack humans but then they just kind of give this mumbling answer about wolf dens. Not to mention other inconsistencies like how the humans have to work their way down a ravine only to find the wolves already waiting at the bottom. THE ? These things superwolves or what?!?
For me, I'd rather spend my time watch The Edge, which is a much more interesting, and believable, movie.
Chronicle-Not a particularly great movie. What I will give it though is that it was an interesting take on superhero/superpower movies. The sense of wonder that it portrayed as they were discovering their powers was actually the more interesting part of the movie. Beyond that it really wasn't particularly great. One of the glaring plot holes/inconsistencies I found in it was
that they specifically show the scene in which the fork bends instead of stabbing the one guy but then that is seemingly completely ignored the rest of the movie as they get beat to shit and takes tons of damage particularly the final villain kill which involves impalement...
. Sadly, of the 3 I've watched lately this is the only one I didn't completely hate.

I really like limitless, had lots of twists I didn't see coming.
Chronicle - fakest shit that ever faked
Thought the commercials were viral marketing, but the movie is actual "I carry a camera with us".
But the effects I thought were well done. Like it looked pretty good. It's just the entire movie being shake cam for pretty much no reason
since the first camera and all it's footage are literally lost/destroyed

the first camera being destroyed
but I just assumed because of the nature of the fight they were unable to concentrate enough to bend the items. After all the intent with the first instance was very casual by comparison with the end of the movie.
Just saw Safe House. I didn't really see anything "coming a mile away" as most people suggested. It was rather uninteresting for a movie with two very popular actors. I did kinda have a hope it would become more than it was and that never happened.

SPOILER~~~~~~I absolutely loved the grey. But I am biased because I love neeson, survival, snow mountains and wolves. It was like porn to me. The ending gave me goosebumps because of how everything wrapped up in the last couple minutes. And then when the scene went black, it was just fantastic. Left me hanging and wanting so much more and it wasn't so much about survival or fighting wolves but about the quote that he kept repeating (regarding the last couple minutes). At the end, the movie just laid the smack down on you with all the answers to the questions it brought up in the beginning. Definitely not action packed but the pace is still decent and I was pretty immersed in the whole story. I heard a couple people pissed off in the theatre at the end but they were probably expecting a movie like Taken with wolves.
sold. I'm now willing to check it out.
Anyone thinking a movie associated with a wrestler or fighter will be anywhere decent let alone have a plot other than the obvious ones will obviously be disappointed... But yah same reasons I checked it out. At this point though, it was so memorable I don't remember any of the movie and I think she was a brunette... ?
watched Indie Game the Movie last night with my wife, we both love docs and I was surprised she liked this as much as she did, well worth the rental/purchase

and shes fighting in a skirt aw man id let her beat me up anyday and id ask for seconds.
saw thor since it was added to netflix......yeah so i saw it and whatever. so far the best new marvel flick ive seen is iron man 1 all the others are ok or boring at best. and for me personally the first 2 blade movies are the best marvel movies to date though i hope the new spiderman will take first place.
Prometheus - good. Lovely visual design. The vessel Prometheus was really cool. Liked the characters a lot in this movie. When they are first introduced I thought some of them would be utterly mundane (and some don't really get much screen time at all) but that wasn't the case. Some of the plot points didn't come off as big as I think the director thought. Won't spoil anything, all I'll say is that it happened a few times. Michael Fassbender is the man.
Far from perfect but I really appreciate the direction of the universe Scott has created here. Though bout half way in I feel like the movie is missing some pieces, maybe that will be added in a director's cut. I also didn't understand why the religious message was implied so often when the characters don't fit the faithful type.
I liked Prometheus pretty well, though it wasn't at all what I was expecting or hoping for, really. Here's an interesting analysis. Quote from that post:
Yeah. The reason the Engineers don't like us any more is that they made us a Space Jesus, and we broke him. Reader, that's not me pulling wild ideas out of my arse. That's RIDLEY SCOTT.
The Silence of the Lambs- A terrifying movie, but couldn't get over Starling's accent in the movie. It sounds like she had something in her mouth the whole time.
Full Metal Jacket- A great movie, of course. D'Onofrio was scary and sad, the Drill Sergeant was hilarious, and of course Animal Mother is a badass.
Cowboys & Aliens. Pretty great. The final act drags it down a bit but very strong.
I agree it was good film. I felt the role Ford was playing for most the movie was odd for him.
A Very Harold and Kumar X-Mas - It was like the other films this time set on X-mas eve. Dumb fun basically good for some laughs.
Some of the 3D did a good job at poking fun at 3D.
The Grey - It was good. Though could have been better. Neison had a good performance and the shots were beautiful. I was also questioning why these wolves continued hunting down these humans from such a distance. It's possible they were scouts of a different pack that communicated with the others near the plane crash site. I'm not sure I don't know enough about the living habits of wolves.
Men In Black 3 - Kind of the definition of an unnecessary sequel. Average the whole time. See if you need your Will Smith fix otherwise save your time. I saw it in 3D and it was mostly gimmicky as one would expect.

I felt exactly the opposite. While the plot was more of the same. The trailers made me think they were going to "poke fun at 3D", however when I saw the film it felt more like they were being sincere and thus it came off as worse than contrived.
Kinda-sorta a movie, I started watching The Hatfields & McCoys last night. Finished up Part One. So far it's really good and surprisingly well acted. I guess that's what you get when you hire real actors.
The Wrong Man. It was great to see what New York City looked like sixty years ago, and I'm amazed that the 53rd Street stop looks more or less the same! In a time before a scientific and psychological approach to policing was applied, it was quite terrifying for not just Manny, but for the viewer. The defense lawyer could've easily discredited the women in the offices, since it was clear that they steamrolled the victim into pointing out the suspect.
I was disappointed with the happy epilogue, finding it unnecessary, but it must've been those damned producers.
Finally saw the Secret World of Arriety. Lou Dobbs was right! A children's movie indoctrinating our youth with ideas of fairness and understanding!
Disney did a damn good job with the disc, with each language of the movie having their own credits in their language.
I felt the American English dub was a bit unnecessary, although I wonder who planned it first, the British or the Americans. Amy Pohler and Will Arnett were good, but I wonder why Disney hired them, since they played their characters with such control, that if you don't pay attention you won't notice it was them.
I didn't like the Summertime song since it ruined Cécile Corbel's theme song. Corbel did a good job with the soundtrack, as I was hoping for a Higashi one.
Overall, it was a fun film, as with all of Studio Ghibli's releases, definitely worth watching.
Reservation Road - 3/5 starts off very good and stays that way for most of the movie. Wished the storyline had followed a different route though i.e. could've been better with a change in plot.
21 Jump Street.. it worked. It wasn't the greatest comedy ever but in terms of old TV shows being remade for the big screen... I assume it's worse than Miami Vice but if we look at just the remakes that are comedic movies it might actually be the best of them.
Yesterday I seen Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and Brave
Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter is really good but what you would expect from the title. Abe Lincoln killing vampires . Seriously though, the movie is done in an autobiography style because it goes through his whole lifetime. So if you are interested in seeing Abe Lincoln kill vampires, then check it out, it's awesome.
Brave is phenomenal. It may just be Pixar's best or up there in the top 3. I really appreciated two things that Brave did. First of all the main character doesn't have the average "Disney Princess" mentality to her. She is essentially a tomboy and well they treat her as one but it sens a message that girls don't have to be "Disney Princesses", they can be whatever they want to be and not be what traditions tell them to be. Also the movie tried to teach a lesson I thought which is good. Not that it's educational, but more so offering a life lesson.
