i 2nd into the wild. watched it a few nights back, excellent movie. ill watch it again.
started we own the night yesterday. and after 3 minutes of the movie i can say its good. doesnt matter what happens from there on out, the scene with eva on the ocuch is a winner. i have a thing for her.
American Gangster - a lot better than I was expecting, definitely worth checking out
I was suprised too. I'm not normally a gangster movie fan because they always end the same way. i.e dead or in prison but, American Gangster was different. Didn't overdue the violence.

The Mist- A great creature feature despite the
Twilight Zone ending.
Easily one of the best horror films in a long time. Also, you have got to love the Dark Tower reference.

The Assasination of Jesse James... This film had some nice shots, imagery, and moments, but it ultimately dragged on a bit. I might have to watch this film again in order to better hear Casey Afleck's dialogue. He has this weird quivering voice that is really hard to follow.

Supercop 2- Not quite as entertaining as the first film, but watching Michelle Yeoh kick some backside is always a treat. Jackie Chan's cameo felt forced.

The Reaping- Sigh, a snoozer that seeks to imitate better films in the find-the-town's-secret genre. Hilary Swank and company deliver wooden, uninteresting portrayals. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

Hitman- Shitman

The Fisher King (7/10) Hadn't seen this since it was in theaters. Aged decently (despite Jeff Bridges' very dated 80s modern apartment and the whole video store setting), but man is it shrill at the beginning. Gets more nuanced as it goes along, when you get to spend some quiet time with Parry (Robin Williams). Williams is so bad in so many movies, it really puts things in perspective to see him being this good (he was nominated for best actor). His monologue in the park about the title story and his appeal to Amanda Plummer late in the film are both good examples of how good he can be when he's doing it right and not chewing the scenery or going maudlin (though there are plenty of those kinds of moments in this movie too). Michael Jeter and Mercedes Ruehl (who WON best supporting actress for this, rather amazingly) also great in throwaway roles.

Rob Roy (7/10) Another one I hadn't seen in a while and wife had never seen. It was better than I remembered. Wife really liked it.

Dan in Real Life - Enjoyable. Surprisingly not ruined by Dane Cook's presence.

The Ruins - Amazing book. Fairly mediocre horror movie.

Attonement. Not bad, way better than I expected.

Walk Hard. Meh. Just ok, the songs were funny, but the schtick on whole got old quick.

I watched Walk Hard this weekend as well. I feel the same way. It was ok. Although 70s version of Jenna Fischer is surprisingly hot.

Also, great John Lennon impression by Paul Rudd.
One Missed Call.

God awful.
With the track record American remakes have, did you really think it wasn't gonna suck hard?
Although 70s version of Jenna Fischer is surprisingly hot.
I was thinking the same thing! :D

Orange County 7/10
Rocket Science 9/10 (previously talked about it but didn't give a rating)

Surprisingly a movie that I saw, hoping it would be good and sucked
United 93 2/10

Full Metal Jacket 5/5

I loved this movie. It was my first time ever watching it and I thought it a great job catching the feel of the era. This might be my favorite War Movie, ever.
Mr. Brooks
Wow, this movie was lame.
Couldn't agree more. Seeing
Dane Cook take a shovel to the skull
was fucking awesome, though!

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem

The Good:

decent action scenes
gory
FX

The Bad:

forgettable characters
mediocre actors
takes liberties with Alien reproduction method
lacks Ripley
lacks Dutch

The Ugly:

a predator impregnates woman with a kiss
One Missed Call.

God awful.
That song or sound they had in the previews made me want to stab myself in the ear with a rusted screwdriver so I do not plan on seeing it. I just saw the ruins and didnt think it was bad. I might pick it up when it comes to dvd.
Who's Dutch? Do you mean Bishop?
This is Dutch.
Alien - the original is awesome. Now just to decide whether I like this one or Aliens more....hmm...
Here, I'll help you. You like them both equally.
Yep. I honestly can't choose one over the other. Both are classics.

Recently watched À l'intérieur (Inside). It has to be the most scary movie I have seen since Ringu. Its best to go into the movie knowing as little as possible...maybe just knowing you are in for a special movie. By far the best horror title I have seen in a very long time.

Annie Hall - I hate Woody Allen
Manhattan - Surprisingly decent for a Woody Allen flick. I was even able to stomach him for once!
Hotel Rwanda - 2 viewing, great movie, the scene wear the westerners leave still gets me.

I Am Legend (4/10)

First of all, just as a general rule,
killing the dog
= INSTANT FAIL. Not that they didn't telegraph it from moment one.

SO many plot holes, so little justification for the ending, a very stupid main character, the pseudo-religious bullshit... Terrible.

People who know know that Manhattan is the masterpiece, even though Annie Hall won all the awards. Personally, it's in my all-time top five.

Wow, and here I was alone in thinking that Annie Hall was over hyped, over rated piece of tripe. I still cannot believe the mockery, and the travesty, that the academy made out of themselves by having Annie Hall win best picture rather than having Star Wars sweep. Biggest loser to win best picture, with the exception perhaps being Crash.

How about Forrest Gump beating out both Shawshank and my favorite movie... Pulp Fiction

and who can forget Shakespeare in Love winning best picture over Saving Private Ryan

Even the movie considered the best movie of all time Citizen Kane wasnt even a best picture winner... the oscars do that crap all the time

Ugh...Don't get me started on undeserving Oscar winners. Crash almost had me kicking in my TV...And Titanic....Oh god, Titanic. But they do get it right sometimes. Watching Return of the King get its due made me forgive a lot.

And I will say that I enjoy Annie Hall, but no, I don't think it should have won Best Picture.

See, I can forgive the Forrest Gump/Shawshank/Pulp Fiction ordeal since they're all great movies and it just was a tough choice that year. I had forgotten about Shakespeare in Love. There's another travesty.

I applauded that one. I love Shakespeare in Love and found Saving Private Ryan to be immensely over-rated. I didn't give a shit about any of the characters.
Re-watched Carlito's Way on HD DVD yesterday.
I really like the narration in this film.
Pacino+De Palma=awesome
Sean Penn's incredible in Carlito's Way. He completely disappeared into that character.

I remember seeing it in the theater and thinking, "I thought Sean Penn was in this?"

That might've been Brian DePalma's last good movie, too.

You must be one of the few. I always tear up at the end of Saving Private Ryan. Few movies do that to me (Schindler's list is the only one off the top of my head I can think of.).

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

FANTASTIC movie, I think I liked it a little more than Knocked Up, just be prepared for male nudity.

and not just ass either. :puke:

four times.

Im not saying Gump was a bad movie, but it was nowhere in the league of Shawshank or Pulp Fiction (probably the most influential movie of the past 20 years... look at all the copycat movies that followed)

And being in Alabama Im sure one of the big reasons it was so beloved down here is because they featured Gump on Bear Bryant's Alabama football team... thats all people down here care about

as for the last movie I watched... belonging in the sooooooo bad it is good category Karate Kid Part 3... over the top acting and story
