You guys also forget to mention when Raging Bull got the shaft.

There Will Be Blood- A pretty good film. 9/10
Excellent choice... what movie DID win that year... was it Ordinary People or Out of Africa?... Raging Bull was one of the all time greats, probably DIDNT win due to Rocky's victory a few years earlier...

I actually have Jake LaMotta's autograph up on my wall from years ago
The Kite Runner
Total garbage. Did you read the book? If you did then there is no way you can say the movie was anything decent.

Walk Hard - was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. There are only two parts that were kind of funny but the rest of the jokes are pretty much predictable.

The Ring 4/5

It was a pretty scary movie. I thought the first hour dragged a bit, but after that it really picked up. The ending still has me confused a little bit, but not in a good way.

If you haven't seen it and you loved super bad, knocked up, etc. You will die laughing at this movie.
I saw it yesterday and it was pretty meh at best. It wasn't as funny as I expected it to be, it wasn't no 40-Year Old Virgin and it certainly wan't no Superbad. I don't believe how Roeper and Phillips could praise this movie like they did, Roeper said "he is ready to get down on his knees and pledge his undying love for this film and it was going on his 50 funniest movies of all time list" - WTF?

Am I the only person who thought that Peter (the main character) was miscasted? He just wasn't that funny on his own, and was only funny when Jonah Hill or the British guy was in a scene with him.

If you never saw Superbad/Knocked Up, I would've loved it. But, since I saw those two, and have to compare, I thought it was average.

That British Guy though carried the film.

P.S.: Anyone thinking of seeing it, it's a chick-flick.

Last movie I watched was There Will Be Blood. I enjoyed it, but I need to watch it again. My mind snagged on something that confused me towards the beginning of the movie, and I got hung up on it for too long and missed some important parts.

I liked it
I second that.
I rented it thinking that it would be "meh" but really enjoyed it alot.

Well, Jason Segel, who played Peter, wrote the film so that would have been pretty funny if they told him he wasn't right for the part and tried to get someone else to play him. It's also probably the reason he got to show off his schlong so many times in the movie. I'll tell you who I think WAS miscast - Kristen Bell. Her kewpie doll looks just didn't seem to belong in this movie, especially those Access Hollywood promos and footage as a popular actress were just overdoing it.

Yeah, it was pretty average, I enjoyed Drillbit Taylor more than this film, even though Michael Phillips said it was "Not very good" and "It's taken Judd Apatow's comedy train just one film (Drillbit) to get back on track". Does anybody else disagree with this review?

The British guy was kind of annoying, he was only funny because of his accent and his ignorant, immature ways.

It is a chick-flick like Knocked up, in that it's aimed toward couples with its focus on relationships and romance. FSM was a letdown but I have high hopes for Pineapple Express, the trailer looks really good and the exclusive look on the Superbad DVD has me excited. I'm really looking forward to that one.

Panda Express looks alright, the trailer was 'meh' to me.

The fact that I had to see that dude's dick like way too many times was a killer.

The ending was retarded.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall

FANTASTIC movie, I think I liked it a little more than Knocked Up, just be prepared for male nudity.

and not just ass either. :puke:

four times.
I'm with you on that one Scorch. I really, really liked this movie. I felt it was definitely better than Knocked Up was. Knocked Up is pretty overrated. This one just felt natural.
Amelie - Great film, I've never felt so warm inside after watching a film. It just made me damn happy. 9/10
I've been meaning to pick up that film on DVD for so freaking long. I saw part of it along time ago IFC, when I got IFC that is, and loved it.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall made me want to just.. up and leave for a few days and head to the beach and leave everything behind.

I think I'll do that this summer. But I won't get the $6000/night suite.

Oh really? The musical version of Dracula with puppets - that felt natural to you? I think so far this is the only Apatow film that is overrated. Some of the jokes were a little off, the BJ simulation/pearl necklace referrence, the religious dork newlywed, the waiter who's infatuated with the singer, I didn't find myself laughing as much, I only chuckled a few times. This movie is going to the bottom of my Judd Apatow list, second only to that other not-so-funny film TN.

1. Superbad
2. The 40-Year Old Virgin
3. Walk Hard
4. Anchorman
5. Drillbit Taylor
6. Knocked Up
7. FSM
8. Talladega Nights

Yeah, this film made me want to up and leave too... right out of the theater... especially when Peter started singing that retarded song on the piano, but I didn't want to waste my 6 bucks.

Here's my list so far:

1. The 40-Year Old Virgin
2. Superbad
3. FSM
4. Anchorman (could be tied with 3)
5. Knocked Up
6. Talladega Nights

Haven't seen this two yet:

3. Walk Hard
5. Drillbit Taylor

i was dissapointed with sarah marshall, and happen to think that these apatow movies, while still ok, are getting worse by the movie. 40 y.o virgin being the pinnacle

Just finished Penelope. Was different for a fairy tale movie.

Though it was strange seeing Christina Ricci in a kid friendly movie since the last movie I saw her in was black snake moan.

Oh man, you should definitely check out Walk Hard on DVD right now! I just saw it again on DVD after I saw it in the theater last time, and it is 1000 times funnier than Forgetting Sarah Marshall. For me, it was one solid laugh after another, the humor in this film is spot on. It's definitely my kind of humor, unlike FSM was. Also, Walk Hard is directed much better than FSM was, even though for the most part it's just silly satire, the emotion in this film actually feels more genuine than in FSM. (Probably because Jake Kasdan directed it VS the guy who directed FSM which I've never heard of.) You don't have to be familiar with the music scene of the past several decades to get the jokes, but you'll enjoy it a lot more if you are.

Nice list, although I was listing only movies produced by Judd Apatow. But hey, you put Walk Hard and Superbad at the top so you have good taste! :applause:

watched Blade Runner and Revolver the other day, both were good. Probably should of watched Revolver again to get all of what happened.

Enchanted (7/10) Enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Very cute, and as a recovering Disney nut, it was fun to spot all of the Disney in-jokes and references.

I really wish Disney would get back to producing the hand-drawn musical fairy tales that were once their stock and trade. That's what built the company and it's what they always did best. I know they're not exactly hurting for money with the move to target the Tween demographic with High School Musical, etc., but I miss what they used to be. And their soulless 3D animated efforts have been utter crap. Hopefully, under John Lasseter they will rebuild Disney animation (including the resurrection of the 2D animation studios that Disney unceremoniously shut down a few years ago). If anyone has the vision and clout to do it, it's him.

Yes, but Freaks & Geeks puts every single one of these in the shade.
Untraceable - oh wait...it sucked......
Actually, the thread's title should be "Surprisingly, 'The Last Movie You Saw' didn't suck."

I really wasn't a big fan of Walk Hard. It was too long I think as the style of humor just got the point of "Ok, we get it" towards the end. There were definitely funny parts to it though (Beatles).

My top 5 Apatow:
Superbad
Anchorman
40 YO Virgin
Knocked Up
Wedding Crashers

Talladega Nights was weak and Blades of Glory had moments but was unimpressive.

(Give me Undeclared any day.)

The Darjeerling Limited- 0/10, fucking Stupid Movie.
Its safe to say that I hate everything Wes Anderson lays his hands on.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall - 8/10

Rear Window - 7/10
Doesn't hold up too well

Disturbia - 7/10
Disturbia has to be the 'Best Movie I thought Would Suck Balls" of 2007.

I saw that trailer, thinking "what the fuck Mr. Even Stevens?" and it ended up being a really good movie.

i got 30 minutes into it and then deleted it off my hard drive

Wayne's World 0/5

I can't really give this a rating, because I didn't finish it, but in the 30 minutes I watched, it was pretty dumb.

This Is Spinal Tap 4/5

I loved this movie, it was hilarious.

Mike Myers' movies (with the notable exception of "So I Married An Axe Murderer," which is more or less as great now as it was the first time I saw it) simply do not hold up over time.

Austin Powers is still great.....and I still enjoy the Wayne's World films immensely, though more so 2 than 1.

This guy hasn't starred in a movie without appearing in some sort of make-up since the early nineties. Incidentally, that's around time when his movies stopped being funny.
