Tales from the Pawn Shop(s)!
Got the following for $25 from a place in Sunbury, PA called Brayden's:

- Legend Of Zelda: Link To The Past Four Swords & Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team for GBA, cart only
- Spectre for SNES, cart only
- God Hand for PS2, complete
WTF? I was just there on Tuesday, they didn't have anything (well they had God Hand but I already have a mint copy)

the only things I really saw were overpriced mediocre games >.>

Yeah, he doesn't have too many good games out on the floor, but he had like 2 bags of various games behind the counter he was planning to put on eBay. But he knows I'm always looking for older games, so if he doesn't have them on ebay yet, he always pulls them out for me and we wheel and deal. So yeah, if he has nothing out always ask if he has any other older games.

I was only over in sunbury because I went to careerlink (waste trip) which was right by the pawn

Haha yeah, careerlinks usually are a waste, from my experience.

Speaking of waste of time, did you ever go to the rolling mills antique shop in lewisburg, and it's 125 shop building a few blocks away? Went there today and it was a pretty terrible experience, found almost nothing and any games I did find were priced at about the highest ebay price. If you were ever there, did you find anything worthwhile? I came away with Rad! on vhs for $1, that's it lol.

These were priced at $10 each. I asked if they would take $15, and they accepted. Both are complete and had unused Nintendo Club codes :D

No, they have always been closed, Lewisburg had the Art Festival today so I didn't get to stop at Elite, but no big loss as that location never has anything anyways

Picked up some more pawn..

New Super Mario Bros DS Complete $5
Dark Cloud 2 (Complete) (PS2) $3
Spyro: The Eternal Night complete(Wii) $3
Kingdom Hearts 2 (ps2) no case $3
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger complete (PS2) $3
Nicktoons Unite complete (GC) $3

I've been oversleeping the last couple weekends since garage sales started and getting out too late. I did find one sale with a box of 25 cent gospel DVDs. I picked all those up for the Best Buy trade in a DVD, get a $5 blu-ray coupon deal.

Same sale at two PSX games mixed in with their 25 cent CDs, so I grabed those. Complete copies of Tomb Raider and Tekken, nothing outstanding.

They also had 4 Caterprillar Pepsi glasses for a nickel each. I picked those up and they turned out to be worth about $10 each on Ebay. Sometimes it helps to collect other stuff to pay for your gas money.

My pawn shop use to be cool and decent with prices.

Now they think they are ebay and most stuff is overpriced. They had Devil May Cry on 360 and the price tag said 39.99 which is insane and even more than what it goes for on ebay.

I always ask what they will take for each game no matter what price is on the box. I like to haggle. At first she was like 25 bucks with tax. Then I was like I sort of wanted it for around 20 max. Then she let me have it for 20 which isn't a amazing deal or anything, but it seems to go around that or a little more right now.

A lot of the pawn shops around here have Gamestop/internet prices.Sometimes you'll get lucky and find a newish game for like $15 or so.

Stopped at 2 local shops this afternoon that I normally frequent. Here's what I picked up at Jets collectibles & gifts, affectionately known to the locals as "the nazi shop":

- Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Xbox, complete) - $10

And at a place called the Swap Shop:

- Twisted Metal (greatest hits)
- Twisted Metal 3
- Syphon Filter 2
- Tony Hawk's Underground (gamecube)

All are complete and great condition, $10.60 total cause they charge tax. Only grabbed Tony Hawk because it was 4/$10 and there wasn't really anything else there. Thought I did pretty well on both purchases though, especially the first.

There's a pawn shop here I absolutely hate. It's dirty and smelly and messy inside. There's no organization, it's literally just junk stuffed on shelves with other completely unrelated junk, and there's piles of stuff everywhere. On top of this the owner is an absolute ass, a loud, obnoxious, overbearing, and pushy douchebag who DOES NOT STOP TALKING EVER.

Now for some ungodly reason, ever since this store opened, people have been bringing this guy absolutely ridiculous games. CIB Megaman X, Duck Tales 2, boxed NES action sets (yes, plural), CIB Majoras Mask, just to name a few. Every time I came in there was more of this stuff piled up, and he refused to sell any of it. He marked ludicrous prices on everything and just sat on them. It was extremely frustrating.

Anyway, a few months ago he hired a guy. Nice dude, realizes his boss is retarded, and has been trying to give me a decent deal on stuff when his boss isn't around. I don't go there often because it's way out of my way, but I stopped in today and found out that the owner is taking every Friday off from now on. I only had $20, but I had a pretty sweet haul, so from now on I'll be stopping in there every Friday until I've cleared them out :V

Anyway, for $20:
GBA All cart only:
Digimon Battle Spirit
Megaman Battle Network 6 Cybeast Gregar
Fire Emblem
Wii
DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (complete minus bonus disk)
3DS
Zelda OoT 3D (Complete)

He's also holding a bunch of PS1 games for me for next week. It'll be a good couple of weeks coming up :D

Another small pickup today at a local pawn shop. This guy usually has nothing, just the same old, cruddy random sports games that he's had for about 6 years. But on Saturday he said, a guy brought in a NES lot on consignment. So I just cherry picked a few games:

- Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, Legend of Zelda & Donkey Kong Classics (all cart only) for $25

I tried to get them for $20, but like I said, he said they were on consignment so he had to get what the guy that brought them in was asking for. Either way, thought it was a good enough deal and was pretty happy with it.

Also stopped at a local thrift store and picked up:

- Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World (GBA cart only) for $2

The lady at the thrift store said she has a nintendo 64 in its box and some games she's going to bring in for me tomorrow too, so if the price is right, I'll be posting some more pick-ups.

Went to one Pawn Shop today. It's the only one I know about around me and it's basically a mini Best Buy. A bunch of games all close to retail or ebay prices and electronics. They actually have their own hard plastic cases over the games for anti-theft purposes. Waste of time. I did find a Spiderman 2 for PS2 that I've wanted for awhile for 6.99 (not even a deal) and was going to buy it just to have it but it was scratched all to hell...

I've had some good finds lately.

Pokemon Black 2 - $6

Zelda 3DS - $6

Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition (It is sealed, but some of the seal is torn) - $8

Pokemon Colosseum - $4

Star Wars Battlefront 2 - $5

Valkyria Chronicles 2 - $3

I'm going to go out this Saturday and see if I can find some more.

Checked out the local Pawnshot today. I found dotHack 3 there a few months ago, and have been loitering hoping some of the other parts would show up. Nothing in the recent gen stuff, but the PS1 section was just restocked to overflowing with games like Final Fantasy VII and Legend of Legaia. I had most of them, but managed to pick up several each with a small flaw. Grandia, complete with original case and manual, small crack in the case. Alundra 1&2, with original case and both manuals, one side doesn't close tight though. Lunar Silver Star Story Complete, case but no manual, one of the prongs is broken and doesn't hold the disk tight. Star Ocean Second Story, manual but generic jewel case that doesn't close properly.Threads of Fate, case but no manual. Castlevania Symphony of the Night, complete but greatest hits box. Arc the Lad Collection, case but no manual. Yeah, it was a Working Designs kind of day. Not bad for Less than $30.

Solid pawnshop haul today. They posted they were having a sale today on Facebook during my lunch break, so after work I went straight there. They are very unorganized in general and hadn't even pulled the stuff out yet, so I got first pick.

While we were talking total price, they threw in the SNES carts free.  $25 total. ;)

Battlefront 2 hard to find now? I have a copy of that, wonder if its worth anything...

Found The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for $10 with the map at a local pawn shop last week.  It was odd that it also came with a printed out strategy guide for the game in a binder.  That was in pretty gross condition so I took it but immediately threw it out.

I found a new pawnshop this weekend, and they have a decent flat rate pricing structure on games, Blurays & DVDs. I only found " :ps3: Batman: Arkham City GOTY" for $8.00, but I will be going back weekly.

Picked up a SNES with three games(street fighter turbo,f-zero and starfox, two boxed) all for 40$ :3 it is all in amazing condition!

$25 PS2 at a pawn shop in my area, some $1 PS1 games (nothing rare so I doubt I could resell for much), not much else unfortunately.   Worth picking up?

Sounds good man, doesn't matter if their rare or not,as long as you enjoy them. I try buying to make some money, but i mostly buy for my pleasure, that's how i racked up such a awesome collection :)

Today I found " :ps2: Haunting Ground" for $5.00 at my new favorite pawn shop. I talked with one of the employees & he is also a video game collector, so my chances of finding anything super rare are pretty slim.

Zelda Collector's Edition COMPLETE for Gamecube $1! It's the one with the originals, and the N64 games on the disc.

Not a bad deal, it was ina  box of PS2 and Xbox games for $1. I may actually keep this one.

I need to get a camera for pics of it.

Electric Spin Golf Launchpad for PS2 - 7$

02sd.jpg

Anyone have this or any experience with it?  I think it retailed for more than 100$

While not a technical pawn shop, my local West Coast Video buys and sells used games. Someone dumped a ton of collector's and limited and greatest edition games off which were reasonably priced as they seem to just go off the standard editions. I passed on the collector's and limiteds as I doubt they had codes.

I did snag Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition for $8.50 with tax. I'd bought the standard edition from Best Buy for $10 a while back, beat it and sold it back to them for like $11 or $12 with promos, but I couldn't resist playing through the DLC for that price. (Even though I have all the DLC to play through Fallout 3 with with a similar story)

Holy crap, there are still WCVs?
lol, that's what I hear from everyone. Apparently, the store in my town and two others split off and are still operating under the name. Although I haven't looked into it in years, not sure if the other two are still open. Plus, it's hard to tell as around here at least, every WCV that closed left their signs up out front and shelves in the store, so from the road you have no idea if they're open or closde.

I think it helps too that in my town they have the DVD and game sales locked down as well. You have to leave town and go through interstate traffic for a short bit to get to any of the big chains that sell them.

that's impressive (the finds and that a WCV still exist).

I worked at a Movie gallery about 5 years ago, and saw the beginning of the end for the industry. Porn was like 70% of rentals/sales.

Most of the pawns in my area have stopped taking anything older than current gen, which sucks as they would flat price everything and I've picked up some crazy deals that way. However, I got to thinking thinking, and went and talked to the people at one store that I'm in all the time. We made a deal wherein they'll start taking retro and last gen stuff at $5/console and $1/game (no sports, PS1 systems, or Xbox systems) on the condition that I buy all of it at twice what they pay. This is proof that if you form a good relationship with the people at your stores every once in a while you'll get something good out of it.

Also, picked up this stuff for a little under $100 from two different pawns on the oppisite end of town. One of them still carries retro but has usually outrageous prices unless you get one of the other employees, the other never had any video games before so I was surprised to see anything.

I went to find some flippables since I will be going to Gamestop tomorrow to get Injuctice.

Got PS2 Odin Sphere for $5

and Skyrim legendary Edition for 360 for $10

Both are mine and complete.

Too bad the Skyrim is for 360 though.

Unfortunately they are all loose, but they are in good shape with the exception of Metal Head.

Went to Geauga Pawn in Newbury, OH. Picked up Mario Kart: Super Circuit (GBA) for $3 (talked down from $7). Nice little shop.
