This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items, or raincheck "scams." Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday. Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. Some info from BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction."

When posting deals, please include city, state, store, game, system and price. For example:
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
Super Soup Soufflé, Xbox 360, $4.98

Special thanks to Mephitical for this great tool for locating clearance titles which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance-- often games will not be tagged correctly. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Remember, the lowest known price will be posted since the listed item could be higher or lower at your store. Here are the current deals:

Does anyone know if Target still has Darwinia? It was a PC game that most stores had the jewel case version of, though some had the box version and it was supposed to have some bonus thingy. Just wanna make sure it didn't quickyl and quietly get clearanced and sent away.
 
We still have box copies at the Circuit City I work at, they have to be on clearance there by now, I'll take a look-see tomorrow.

I haven't seen it at Target. I did pick it up at Big Lots for $3.99 a couple of weeks ago.

Usually mine are, too. I wasn't going to bother, but I had to go to a store that happened to be next to a Big Lots. Walked in, expecting nothing, and there it was.

Back to Target:

Picked up Dragonology board game for 6.48 and the card game for 1.38, but it does not appear to be on clearance everywhere. (It was part of the January clearance that I guess was restocked.)

Also picked up Aqua Real 3D aquarium (PC) for 2.48
 
Saw Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney (the second game) at a Target for $19.99
At another Target saw Big Brain Academy The Board Game (who knew there was a board game????) on clerance for $9/10?? reg price is $19.99

My Targets in richmond carry it as a $10 jewel case game.
 
Picked up Warhammer 40k: DoW Gold Edition for $5 at the new Target in the Water Front (?) shopping center in Tempe.

I was kind of on the fence about it since I wanted to get the 3 pack collection instead that came with Dark Crusade, but eh what the hell it's was only $5.

Some CAGs (including myself) have seen Dark Crusade clearanced to $7.48, so be on the lookout. Wish I had snagged it when I saw it, but oh well, just gotta keep my fingers crossed that it'll come down at some other locations.

I saw the Jewel Case version just yesterday, and it was only $6.99 with a "Temporary Price Drop" sign under it. If I already didn't pick it up through Steam, I would have bought it.

Also had a few other Jewel Cases for $6.99. Age of Mythology (just the game, no expansion), Dungeon Seige 1 (game + expansion), Full Specturm Warrior.

I picked up Freelancer for $9.99 since I've heard good things about it.

Freelancer isn't bad... there is no joystick support however. Once you get tired of the story mode for Freelance, you might want to check out some of the mods for it. I can't remember off the top of my head what it's called, but it is really well supported and adds ships, missions, etc etc.

I've seen the Michael Graves Boardgame Stratego at my Big Lots... that's just an FYI if someone is still looking for them.

My Target has been sadly vacant for video game deals since I saw Sid Meier's Pirates way earlier in the year.
 
It's been mentioned before, but is worth remembering - Target traditionally processes electronics (games) clearance markdowns on Mondays. The time of day varies by store, but it is generally mid to late afternoon. Monday night or Tuesday morning has been the best time to check for new prices.
Unless something has changed, this could save someone from making two trips a week to the same store.

Our target hasn't had anything good on clearance for a very long time, I cannot remember the last time I bought something on clearance there, it all disappears too quickly and I have no idea where they send it as there is no goodwill in our immediate area. I think everything just gets cleaned out so quickly because this target is a mecca for the tourists of our area, the store is literately filled with tourists every time I go there. Our toy dept. has been cleaned out of tons of toys with empty shelves however I cannot find the merchandise from those shelves anywhere in the store.
 
The amount of markdown merchandise in any category tends to match times of year and inventory counts. As someone already pointed out Mon. is the day electronics are marked down and Wed. is for toys. This is for clearance merchandise and temporary price cuts don't necessary fall in the same lines. Clearance drops go from 30%, 50%, 70%, to 90% week by week. Occasionally items may still at a percentage without being dropped the next week. Different store volumes etc. are on different markdown schedules. So something could be 70% at one store and 30% at another. After awhile you normally can identify which stores get the drops first it always the same stores since the schedule seems to be store volume based. Super Targets normally are the on the tail end of the markdown period. For the last 2 years the 90% markdowns are normally pulled from the floor completely, but you occasionally find things they missed. Some stores don't take care of the markdowns as well and its a bonus for the people who know whats been markdown. Just because you don't see a red tag doesn't mean it hasn't been markdown. I take the dpi #'s over to the scanner and check for myself all the time. Most of my best finds have been items not marked, including a little tikes climb & slide 50% off last week for my daughter. Nice find to go with the 70% little tikes table/chairs and 70% off push buggy I picked up for her during the july/august toy clearance last year.

As for the recent drought of electronics markdowns this time of year you normally see large markdowns in areas like toys, clothes, baby merchandise, etc. Electronics will start picking up normally in sept since they will need to clear space for the christmas season.

I know this information has been posted in the past by other people and myself, but I figured it was worth a refresher...
 
So, is it really not worth checking Target at this time of year for games? I might hit them up after work, but it's sounding like a waste of time (and nobody does good clearances like the ghetto Target near my school :D )
 
Today I went to Target and saw 2 copies of WarRock (PC) for $7.48. Also, I picked up the Guild Wars: Eye of the North Prerelease Bonus Pack for $.99. It's always so funny when I buy a prerelease game at Target because the cashier will scan it and then look at it funny because they can't believe the price. :)

It's worth checking, especially if (as noted in the post above yours) something known to be clearanced went unnoticed and did not get a red sticker. As far as frequency or volume through, I wouldn't bother more than bi-weekly or maybe monthly until you start to see threads like this heat up.

The Olentangy Target in Columbus, OH was pretty sparse. I picked up a 10-pack of DVD-Rs with slim cases for $2 and they had a few more. They also had TMNT PC for $4.98 if that does it for someone.

Charlie Brown isn't bad. I picked it up for $10 before Christmas.
 
Wow, tons of games on sale at My Target. Most of them are still at crap prices though.

There were a bunch of others but they were all jumbled in a cart and I really couldnt tell what was there.

Also, I found a VOTC SW Bosk for $2.98 :)

It was clearanced at SOME stores this past spring and I think it's really doubtful that you would find one there at this point since they would get snatched up at the lower prices or by this point they should have dropped to the point where Target sells them to Goodwill. Of course, sometimes stuff falls through the cracks. When that batch of 360 games got clearanced at some stores, only Kameo was clearanced in my area and even then only at one store, maybe two out of several that I check. Out of those games Chromehounds and Condemned received permanent price cuts to 15 chainwide eventually, so maybe more of them will get that, too.

It is still 16 at CC and is getting hard to find.
 
I did a price check on the Warhammer 40,000 DoW expansion pack and its still coming up as full price ($30) in my area. But I did see plenty of War Rock for $7.48 at the two Targets I went to.
 
I figured something as old as Jak 2 would be clearenced but the aisle price scanners had it rang up as $19.99

If anyone is interested though the Sherwood Oregeon had several discs for the Little Leaps play set marked down to $3.99. Picked one up for the toddler, although he still hasn't sat still long enough to play it. Or to get the concept that you only need to hit the button -once- to move on.

Sorry I took so long but Darwinia is $5 at Circuit City and all of the stores in my district have it in stock!

Yeah I just picked up at step 2 bistro grille playset for my daughter. Original $109, now $27.98.
 
I noticed much of the toy area seemed empty. They had those "Making a better store" signs all over the empty shelves.

Curiously, do the bicycles ever go clearance?

Thanks for the tip, it was still labelled 20$, so no wonder no one was buying them.

I could swear somebody has asked this before. Weird. :)

I'd try in the fall, or just keep an eye out over the weeks ahead. I'd have to imagine that they're going to clear out some stock before winter hits.
 
What's funny to me, working at Circuit City, I have been asked "Hey print me off one of those $40 off coupons!" from people trying to close a sale. They still have no clue how I always know the best deals in our own store.

How is a company like Circuit City who is in threat of being bought out by just about anyone going to go after someone who brought in a bunch of sales to them? I think there's more of Sony than Circuit City here.

Tivoli Audio hasn't been touched and it's on sticker number two, if sticker three hits this week we might have a deal.
 
Dunno if this was just a one-off thing or a sign of things to come, but at the Tomball, TX Target they have A BUNCH of stuff on clearance (like two end caps worth) at 30% off. Xbox, PS2, PSP, DS some X360.

No exaggeration when I say they probably had 60 different titles out on clearance....

This started Thursday...dunno if this was just one dept manager making a decision, or if this is a sign of things to come and this department manager just got a headstart (usually games get marked down Monday)....

I haven't installed it yet. It says "Linus' security blanket is missing and it's up to you and the Peanuts gang to track it down. Play as Charlie Brown or Lucy. 9 minigames within the game to discover and play. Age range 4-102"

It doesn't look like the most engrossing thing for older gamers or adults, but I bought it for my 8-year old.
