Thanks to Skube and Oxidative for this coupon. Important things to note-- this will make games ten dollars or under free, but it's advised to buy another item, such as a pack of gum.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday. Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction."

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store.

Checked to see what's new for today and it seems like they put more educational PC games on clearance. Still a good number of Halo's and Boogie hogging the clearance racks and not sure why they put it there but all the clearanced Spanish music CD's.

As for Bigg's...at my store it's $20.98, same with Harry Potter. My Target store does weekly reductions on clearance for PC's but not for console games unfortunately. So, I know Boogie's are cheaper at other stores...but it's been like $14.98 for over a month now. Still saw a few NHL, NBA Street and NCAA basktball for the same $14.98 price.

The only one I saw that I want but waiting is the last copy of Bleach for the Wii. $39.99...not much of a clearance but hopefully that game will go down soon...maybe $19.99. Has anyone spotted this game as well at their stores for clearance?

But all in all, nothing new that is worth getting. The good news is that we still have a good month and half for this coupon. So, hopefully we get something good....

Depends on the store and how good their price change team is. It might take some stores until Tuesday (or longer) to get the Monday price changes complete. Typically the team comes in very early, like around 4 am. So they could be done by the time the store opens but YMMV.

Forgive my ignorance on this but I think the board needs a definitive answer. Given that managers are in charge of the clearance stock and the pricing thereof, would hiding a game in another part of the store (if it were the last copy) be counterproductive. That is, the store wouldn't even know the game is there right...so they'd never drop the price in the system?

Some have said they have secret stashes of games, but if those were the only copies, the price isn't ever going to change, is it? Thanks to anyone who can answer this.

Yes and no.

Yes, if the drop happens, the game hasn't been scanned and hasn't received the price drop.

No, You can always ask someone to scan the game for you, this way the price drop will occur. This is provided they use the hand scanner though.

Don't be afraid to ask them to scan it either. I just use this logic if they say no, You have been wrong before, please just scan it for me.

There are no definitive answers when it comes to a retail chain of stores - each store has it's own priorities and turn around times.

Also, even though someone may hide games, they'll still show up in the store's inventory.

What SirMikael said is right. Definitely YMMV. It depends on the Price Change Team Leader. There was/is a way to activate the drop on an item that has not been scanned. Say you've hidden the last copy of Barbie's Horse Riding Adventure. That 1 copy of Barbie will still be in the inventory system. The Price Change Team Lead can ok that clearance price but it has to be done manually on their LRT. Not all Team Leads will do this. This is why it's always a good idea to get something scanned. The item may have been clearanced w/o being red stickered. However, getting someone to scan the item at a register will not necessarily activate the new price. In fact it may even bring up "Item not found" if the Price Change Team has zeroed out that item because they could not find it.
Quite the conundrum eh? Do you hide something and risk it never getting lowered or do you wait patiently and take a chance at someone else grabbing the item?
Personally, I choose not to hide items. It's disruptive to the process. Giving other folks a fair chance at something and still snagging it is half the fun of bargain game hunting, IMHO.

Vader, thanks. I'm not a hider off games but I've read a bunch of posts talking about it. I was curious as to whether that might be preventing games like lair and oblivion from dropping at my target.

I definitely don't want to miss the opportunity to pick up that special Barbie game for a low price! lol

I'm not saying hiding game is wrong but it doesn't always garner the wanted results. If there are multiple copies of a game left, you'd be ok hiding one copy, until the out-in-open copies are gone. Sadly every Target is different with clearance items. Target HQ (in MN) sends the price changes to each store. The decision is based on what is selling in that particular store, etc IIRC.

In my experience, hiding generally doesn't work, anyway. I'm not a hider either, but I used to try it. By the time I came back (always less than a week), the item had been relocated or purchased (never truly hid them, just stashed behind other merch). In retrospect, I'm glad I didn't get them, because hiding was just wrong; I'm not the only customer of that store, and there's plenty of people who spend more there, and are more deserving of a better price than my cheap ass.

I don't know WTF is with Oblivion; it's kinda weird. My local store still has it for $29.99, but it was gone up until 2 weeks ago (was at that same price forever). Same with a few other games that are on both PS3/360.

I don't know what happened at one of my two local Targets (south Indy). There was a huge rack of clearance games last week, mostly at 50%... and all of a sudden, this week, *all* of the 360 and PS3 games with two exceptions (360 Virtua Tennis 3, PS3 The Club) are back in the case and labeled at full price. wtf? In addition, the Guitar Hero 1+2 double pack is now off clearance as well. Glad I got it when I did!

The former game clearance rack is now stuffed full of Labtec brand webcams and a bunch of Tracfones. The handheld and PC stuff got moved to a small endcap by the assorted compilation CDs. The only notable games (i.e. not Dancing with the Stars, Cheetah Girls, and the like), were:

GBA Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team (207 04 0287) - holding at $14.98

PSP Jeanne d'Arc (207 20 0263) - holding at $14.98

Oh, and there was a platinum Gamecube (207 13 0005) that finally got the 50% markdown to $49.98.

They also had a GPS with turn-by-turn navigation on clearance. I wrote down the info, PM me if you want it; I don't want to clutter the thread if it's undesired.

A good majority of the time, the prices are remarked. However, it also varies by store. The stores that are on top of their game will remark them Monday mornings on the spot with the "correct" prices, while other stores will not get to them until Tuesday and sometimes later. At that point you need to scan the items with the scanner provided or find an associate with a hand scanner and ask them too politely check the price for you with that or the register. Personally, all of my Targets seem to be pretty on the ball when it comes to remarking the items on Monday but occasionally I do find things that are not correct on the tag but scan correctly.

Nothing else dropped, except a PS3 Logitech keyboard (was 41.98, now 29.99) and some really ancient strategy guides.

The Conker's Bad Fur day strategy guide is now $6.48. The N64 guide.

Oh, all the PC games looked like they dropped by half again, too. Most are $4.98/7.98, including Civilzation, Evidence, Jewel Quest, and a buncha kids' games.
