This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

For some reason, most of the wacky stuff in the Deals forum always has something to do with the Target Clearance thread. It's like the Sun rising every morning.
 
i cant stand that it always seems to be the xbox version of everything clearancing and why are the ps3 wheelmans around me on clearance at all? ill have to scan one maybe they just havent been stickered
 
finally found l4d for 12.xxx and prince of persia for 14.xx in austin,tx. went to two stores and nothing had dropped to 75% off, everythings been 50% for all of june. Tried a store a little further out and saw many of the same games, 360-riddick for 41.xx, 360-ninja blade 27.xx, 360-monsters vs aliens 12.xx, ps3 guitar hero world tour 41.98, 360-high school musical 3 dance 9.xx.

i also saw about 2 asus eee pc 9 inch netbooks at each target for 209.xx from 299.99. i doubt it'll reach another drop though.
 
My local Target (Taunton,MA) never has anything good. The only thing I've found are the $30 copies of PoP which I noticed behind the glass.

did you have them scanned?? the ones i purchased were labled 29.xx its quite possible that they would have come up as 14.xx
 
Totally lucked out and got Star Ocean: Second Evolution for 9.98 and Loco Roco 2 for 4.98 at a Waukesha, Wisconsin target. Both were the only copies left.

One of my local stores finally marked it down to $14.98 last week. They had marked the PS3 version down to that price over a month ago.
 
My chances of grabbing that left 4 dead deal are dwindling by the minute... Any reason I shouldn't trust the online stock locator from target.com? It says a few stores have em, but I don't wanna drive all the way for nothing. also isn't the rule of thumb to never call? (funny too cause I went yesterdday to a target that said they had some in stock, but only saw 1 copy of the goty edition behind the glass... Think they are hiding them in the back? Checked the stock locator today and a few places changed to "not in stock while the store I went to still said limited quantities available...)

Well I was able to score a copy of Left 4 Dead for $12.48. I had to go to four Targets to find it, but once I did, the feeling couldn't be any more satisfying.:applause:

Haha, I know the feeling. CAG is awesome, but damn it has me spending too much money, as I end up compulsively buying games whenever I find a good deal, and there are a lot of those here! :lol: That being said, though, I look at it like this -- I could have bought one new game for $60, but instead I spent $75 and got seven games that are still relatively new (as in recent, not condition, obviously). You really can't beat that.

But yeah, I'm still spending way more than I should -- need to learn to keep that cheap game buying compulsion in check!
 
One of my local Target's had :ps3:RB2's in the stock room last week and were scanning at $29.98. I was hoping they'd surface at $14.98 this week and sure enough I scored one this morning! :):)

The stock checker isn't always 100% reliable, but I would say it's MOST ACCURATE in the morning before the store opens. This is because it's had a chance to update and not sell out because it will not check the inventory throughout the day.

I've been waiting for :ps3:RB2 for a few weeks and one of the local stores had "limited" stock (only 1 copy) while another was "available" but none were on the shelves (they were in the back). When the stock finally made it onto the shelves, there were 4 copies.

If you really want it, I say make the trip ASAP because IIRC, "Limited Availability" means there are less than 3 copies in stock - so it could be 1, could be 3. If there was only 1, it's very possible someone already snagged it, or has stashed it.

EDIT: Yeah I see the one on the first page, but it says their system is down. Ugh! Awful timing. Is it working for anyone else?
 
Don't know the ASIN numbers but can tell u if you go to target.com mobile type Left 4 Dead and both versions will come out.. After that just put ur zip code for the "Find it at a target store" and u should see it that way.. Hope this helps.. If ur on a comp just google target.com mobile...

So, got lucky and found wheelman PS3 ($12.50) L4D($12.50) and actually found Burnout Paradise PS3(GH version) down to $14 (30% off the $20 price).

Makes up for the disappointing Amazon GB day yesterday

wow, thanks for this. wish I knew about the http://sites.target.com/site/en/spot/mobile.jsp before, the ASIN lookup link hasn't been working for me for a while now.
 
went to 2 different targets in the cincy area today.

at one i got the last :360: Afro Samurai for $14.98
at the other i got :360: NBA Live 09 for $9.98

at both they had copies of ratchet and clank AND star ocean for $10 a piece, but i was more concerned with finding 360 games. and is it just me or does target seem to hide their clearance sections in a lot of their stores? i've been to 4 different targets in the past few days, and only one of them was very easily found. the others were meshed in with pc games or hidden in the farthest corner in the electronics as possible. oh well.

Yeah, that is the key logic there. My debate yesterday was "Either I can buy a new copy of Fight Night tomorrow...or buy L4D, Loco Roco 2, LotR Conquest, Secret Agent Clank, Scrabble, Tiger Woods 09, and Saints Row 2 combined for about the same price".

Suffice it to say, it wasn't that hard of a debate. :lol:

I think the game is going be hard to locate by now. There was a mad scramble for L4D copies since Saturday in my area.
 
Picked up FEAR 2 for $13 and MK vs DC for $15 at Germantown MD Target yesterday
They had plenty of FEAR left. Last of the MK(stowed it away waiting for a drop)

Very well said, arcane93! I have about 60 Xbox 360 games and the only game that I've paid full retail for is Gears of War 2. For me that was a must have title. Otherwise, I can wait a few months and get the game for $30 or less.

Heck, I even buy my clothes from the clearence rack (and I'm a very astute dresser) and I get complimented on my suits, ties, and shoes all the time. I very, very rarely pay full price for anything...ever!

Yeah, I found one after visiting my 8th Target lol. The only thing I didn't find this time was Lips and I just wanted the mics. Maybe GS sells them separate?

Nah, they don't sell the mics separate. It is $39.99 used and the SKU is 952391.
 
question....

if a game is on clearance, do all targets put it on clearance. Albeit at a higher price, like what my store has done with l4d and fear 2? Because I saw a bunch of SvsR 09 ps3 and 360 in the display, but no clearance.
 
I found a Target that still had L4D copies in stock, when I got there they where all behind the glass case and still listed at full price. All their clerance games where in the case as well and non where below the $24 mark.

Did you check the price with the DCPI# or with a scanner? Did you have them check the price for you?

If not, you probably just missed out on a $12.48 copy of Left 4 Dead, my friend. The copy that I purchased yesterday was in the case marked as $49.99 with no clearance sticker. I checked the price using the DCPI# and the price came up as $12.48! The CSR did a double take at the register after he scanned the game.

I really hope that you make another trip up to that Target and are able to score a cheap L4D.
 
I didnt see any copies of L4D left at my store. but i just did the online stock checker and it says there is some.... so i might go again and check the DCPI. maybe they are behind the GOTY version in the case.

I did check. The electronics guy was putting the new price of Ninja Blade ($27) when I checked. This is the same Target that did not have GT5/P and Ratched cleranced out at $9 and $14, like every other Target did. They also had The Simpsons game listed at $30 long after every other Target in the U.S.A. had disposed of them at $5

This Target really sucks for clerance prices, but I took a chance because I want a L4D at $12, heck I'll take it at $20

I was able to score the last Monsters vs. Aliens (360) for 12.48. (Sweet!) I'm waiting for FEAR 2 to hit that price now.

Well at my local Target they have 4 shelves at the very end of the movie section. So you reach the end of one long aisle of movies and there are the clearance games. They also have games that are cheap, but not on clearance, on some shelves next to the glass cases full of games.
 
I'm new to this and will be visiting the states later this week.

I guess my best bet is to try this next monday?? as I will be in the Vegas this friday for a week and a half visiting some family.

L4D will prolly be picked clean by the time I get there and check out a target.

Haha, the answer to this question should probably be included somewhere in the OP so that it doesn't keep coming up. ;)

The location of the clearance section varies greatly from store to store, so it's pretty much impossible to say where you'll find it at your specific location. Some will have it on an endcap in the video game section. Others will have it elsewhere in the electronics. One store that I check regularly has it over with the DVDs, and I've seen it with the books. Some stores keep it in the same place all the time, others seem to move it around with great regularity and no rhyme or reason. Basically, you just have to take a tour of the whole electronics and media section to find it. It will, more than likely, be there somewhere -- I've yet to encounter a Target that doesn't have a games/electronics clearance shelf of some sort.

If nothing else, I'd suppose you could ask an employee in the electronics section where it's located. Asking about specific deals is generally frowned upon (don't do it!), but I would be surprised if there are any electronics employees who don't know that they have a clearance shelf, so I don't see why that would be a big deal.

Heh, I tried Monsters vs. Aliens last night. It wasn't awful, but it got very repetitive very quickly. If I were hurting for games to play, I could probably manage to get into it, but as it is with my backlog it'll likely collect dust on my shelf. I think it's probably going to end up as Amazon trade-in filler toward a DSi.
