This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

I thought it was an unwritten rule here to only buy at 75% off. I too am waiting on a $12.48 Lips to replace my Idol mics. Boom Pods sitting at $13.98. Wife's asking me what I'm waiting for. I've seen so many though that I think I'll have no problem getting more than 1 at $4.98.

Use a price scanner instead. Either print out a UPC, or enter a DCPI number. Not too familar on how to use those.

That would be a great plan if everyone who ever set foot in Target, not just people here, followed it. Since that's not the case, though, and sitting around waiting for 75% will often result in things disappearing before you can get them, it's a much better rule to buy the game when it hits the price you think it's worth to you, whatever that might be.

That being said, most of what's getting clearanced is only worth it at 75% off to me anyway. However, if they had something that I really wanted at 50% and were down to a couple of copies, I probably wouldn't hesitate to just go ahead and grab it.

The only rule I follow is to pay only what I'm willing to pay for each game. Yes, it happens to be 75% off for most titles. But damned if I'm going to wait for Star Ocean: Second Evolution to fall to $9.98. I'm snatching that up the minute it hits $19.98!

The Target in my area that marked down PoP to 14.xx on Monday has most if not all of them still. I hit at least 2 targets every morning and the stock of PoP @ this price isnt going anywhere fast. Now AS is gone..

If they haven't done the weekly updates the hand scanners COULD show a more updated price.. but if they've already done the markdowns, the self-scanners are the right price. It's probably not worth tracking down someone with the scanner if everything else looks marked down.

So I wandered by my local Target Seattle, Northgate. Off in the computer section on an endcap facing away from the front of the store, hidden away was a small clearance section.

In this section they had various video games. Mostly PS2 and DS games. They had a few PSP games. What I ended up walking out with was Xbox 360 games.

Specificly;

- Farcry 2 - 27.98
- The Incredible Hulk - 14.98
-X-Blades - 29.98

They also Sonic Unleashed, MLB Head Office, and something else I cant remember.

Might be worth a trip to swing by your local Target, see if they have anything.

Your store is very slow with drops. I just picked up a second copy. It was out of the system already in my store but I got the lady to give it to me for $7.45

Wow, and I thought the Targets here were behind the times on the clearance price drops! I picked up Far Cry 2 for $9.98 and X-Blades for $14.98 weeks ago.

Banjo 24xx
Secret agent Clank 19xx
WWE Smackdown 19 or 24, i forget

I want afro to hit 15 so I can buy it, but the piles are shrinking at 30 and they will probably sell out there which is a shame.

I'm going to have to wait as i'm sure i'll beable to pick it up for 20 or under down the road.

Picked up PofP 360 in Cape Coral, Fl for 14.98. The odd thing was they had MK vs DC 360 marked down from 59.99 to .... 59.99!? They were stickered and on the clearance end cap and all.

Went to the North Spokane, WA one yesterday and got GTA: Lost and the Damned 360 for $9.98 and Prince of Persia 360 for $29.98. Now, I picked up POP because it seemed like a good deal and I wasn't really aware of the average online price; but some have seen it for 14.98. They only had 2 copies, so I doubt it would last that long, but if it did go that low, would they refund the 5.00 if I went back with the reciept? It sounds like a stupid question, and I probably already know the answer. The real question is should I open it, or do you guys think it'll go lower in the future elsewhere? I could always take it back and use that $ towards a used copy of LBP or Resistance 2. Is POP any good? I mean, it's all a metter of personal opinion, anyway...

EDIT: I'm sure the GTA L&D is extremely YMMV. I hadn't seen it on shelves for months, then it just pops up on the clearance rack, haha.

If you are like me then you have a huge backlog of games. I'd keep it sealed until next Monday and see if there is another copy and/or price drop. If so, buy and return on your old receipt.

Target doesn't allow price adjusts on clearance items, the best that you can hope for is they'll still have a copy left whenever the price drops again. You could try to do a return/rebuy but they'll probably refuse to let you rebuy it.
