This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

PoP is on clearance at Sugar Land, TX Target also. I also saw Scene It Box Office Smash with controllers for I think $20. If you have movie buffs for friends then it's a great game at any price.

I stopped and checked today and it is definitely the original release. They have the GOTY edition behind glass for $59.99, the original release is $34.98 on clearance ($49.99 regular). As another person posted, the DLC is free, so it's kind of funny that they're charging $10 more for the GOTY edition now. I was at Best Buy and noticed it there too, $59.99 for GOTY and $49.99 for the original.

Since the GOTY edition has been out for less than a month, I'd be highly surprised to see it on the clearance racks already. Though as has been noted, it doesn't contain anything you can't download for free with the old edition anyway.

True, although some people prefer having all the extra content on a disc as opposed to downloading it. Of course, with Left 4 Dead 2 coming out in November, I suspect both versions of the first game will drop in price pretty quickly.

I would then be one poor, but HAPPY CAGer. :lol:
 
I went in for the B2G1 PS3 games today and happened to notice the clearance section had disappeared and in its place was a TV. I also happened to see Wheelman back in the PS3 section for $60. I figured they might have done that due to the sale, but that wouldn't explain why the XBox games, etc, were gone too...

Sometimes they move it around...did you check the endcaps by the DVDs? or further down in the toys section? (assuming yours is laid out like the ones around here)
 
One of my targets had, on top of the regular game clearance shelf, a %30 off shelf. Picked up one of the walkman MP3 players that'd built into the headset for $35; they also had Loco Roco 2 at $13-14ish.
 
Cleveland Area:

Picked up Prince of Persia for 14.98 and GTA Lost & Damned for $9. Both behind the glass. Must have been around 10 POP left as of yesterday afternoon. This store tends to do their drops on Fridays.

They had a few copies of L4D at the Marlton, NJ Target last night for $35. Not the GOTY edition, since that was still in the case. I picked up a copy and grabbed all the extra content online.
 
i just picked up guitar hero 3 for $7.48... just wondering do you guys think that's a good price to jump on or is it likely to drop lower?

ya 9 times outta 10 at my local sears their "clearance" games are regular retail price everywhere else.
 
Once a clearance game reaches the 75% discounted price, they just get rid of them huh? I hit up my Targets for the first time in a couple weeks and the selection was minimal.
 
I remember picking up Ratchet and Clank: TOD at target clearance for $24.98 few months ago.. Lucky to grab the final copy.

Usually they get snapped up. In the rare case that they aren't, it might go one of several ways. They can hit the elusive 90% discount. They can be sent back to their warehouse. They can even be taken out of the system while they're still on the floor.

How it works at the targets in my area, if it doesn't sell at 75% off, its taken out of the system and donated to the local goodwill. depending on the goodwills pricing, they will try selling it at the same price or mark it down a few bucks more. for example I saw 2 copies of singstar: ABBA in goodwill with target clearance stickers prices at $5 each,half of the lowest clearance price. So check the closest GW to your target location, it might end up there

thanks for pointing that out - i'll see if it's the same story at my local sears..

is 15 likely the final drop for POP? that's 75% off right since on the clearance tag it was listed for 60.. even though they've had non clearance (retail?) prices as low as 30 for it.... also wondering cause some stores seem to have a lot of copies
 
From a previous Target employee in electronics, never believe the sticker you should go scan it at all times because sometimes corporate or whoever is in charge of our prices change at mid week and do not get marked til Mondays. Even then some employees get lazy and leave the last tag on there. So, I would say Price Check the games for sure because it could be cheaper than what it says.

P.S. if this is said in this forum im sorry I was not going to look through all 100+ pages lol

Yeah - had never seen that at my local stores... but today, I scanned POP and it was 15, even though the sticker said 29.99. No luck on MK vs DC or WWE. And the last copy of Afro Samurai was gone, so I'm sure it hit 15 today.

I had a big 'wtf' moment at my target today, since they had an endcap full of mis-ticketed clearance MK Vs DC (6+ copies) not more than a day ago, all showing $60 with 0% off. I knew they were at 50% from scanning them so I left them, along with 1 copy each of LOTR and Need for Speed. What do I find today? The same copies of NfS and LOTR, but NO MK vs DC. What the hell? I checked other end caps, no dice, so either someone bought them up or the electronics team pulled them.

I had them scan PoP when it said $30 and it still came up as such. I don't want to drive down there and check, but I know calling is suppose to be bad. But there were 5-6 since the last time I checked. I work near one so was able to check nearly every day.
 
I saw the 50 cent game on clearance today for $41.98 (207-22-0319)

no other drops though. I got a question though. I saw the price change lady go by scanning things and nothing changed. Does that mean that the prices won't change at all for the rest of the week? I know some stores got different days they do things but wasn't sure if since I saw the price change/check lady go by electronics today, meant that it wouldn't be done again through the entire week.
 
picked up PoP for 14 and change. saw DC vs MK but it was at 30+ still. another month or so for the magic number of 19.99 or below
