This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

I found one of the twin packs of the Clancy PSP games last night for $7.48, but since I don't have a PSP I didn't pick them up. The same store that had them also had about 35 copies(estimate) of GH 3 for 360 which were also $7.48 each.
whats the difference between L4d GOTY edition and the regular?
The DLC (which is free to download via Xbox Live Marketplace) is already on the disc.

saw Guitar Hero World Tour (disc only, obviously) for PS3 for $41.98 in Glen Burnie, MD today. only saw one copy so this might be ymmv or just sold out. thought I'd pass it on just in case

Disc only means just the disc; Game only means just the game, no peripherals.

The only $12 title I could find at my nearest Target was Need For Speed Undercover for the 360, but I don't think I want it. Anyone got an extra Left 4 Dead they wanna trade?

I bought two Pokemon Emerals's from the South Plainfield NJ target for 24.98. I was ok with the price since Gamestop sells it for 39.99 used. They had one left as well as 3 sapphires
are all versions of L4D on clearance? i thought it was just the regular.
Just the regular. The GOTY edition was on sale last week at Target for like $45 or something.

F.E.A.R. 2 has dropped to $25 is anyone is interested. The PLano TX store has a TON I mean at least 15 or more. There will probaly be a lot left when it hits $15.

Not to nitpick but it will go down to $12.48 if it is $24.98 now.

It's been $24.98 at the Target here for over a month now. It usually keeps dropping with a few weeks.

Picked up only copy of Saints Row 2 and Loco Roco 2 on clearance yesterday. Not sure if I really want them, wish I could find a copy of MK vs. DC for Xbox 360.

Picked up Left 4 Dead at the Orange, CT store. I got all 3 copies that they had. Keeping one, but I'll sell the other two for $21.50 shipped via PayPal to the first two CAG veterans that PM me.

Gone.

Also, for what it's worth, they had some copies of Pokemon Emerald ($24.98), Loco Roco 2 ($4.98) and a TON of copies of Guitar Hero 3 for 360 ($7.48).

Just picked up Fear 2 (360) for $12.48. In Germntown, MD. There were 3 other copies I think. There were also a bunch of Guitar Hero World Tour PS3 for $30.
Oh I understand that comletely. I usually grab it when it hits 30% or possibly 50% then hang on to the receipt. Then do a return/rebuy if I can time it right. Either way, 30 and 50 percent off are better than retail... and you still get it before it clears out.
How are you guys doing this? Our Targets will only give you the current price on a return, even if you paid more, which kinda makes sense. It's part of the whole risk/reward of putting items out on clearance.

New drop:

PS3 Endwar bundled with bluetooth headset $39.98 (207-24-0205)

Target return policy says that seasonal clearance can only be returned for the current selling price. Seasonal merchandise should only include things like Easter candy, Xmas decorations, etc. It sounds like your store is interpreting all clearance as seasonal clearance and that is why they won't let you get a full refund. I'd raise hell if they told me that. They tried to charge my wife more once when she was exchanging sizes on some kids clothes she bought on sale, but went back to regular price when she tried to exchange...they wanted to charge the difference because they treated it as a return and then rebuy. Everything depends upon the people you deal with at any particular store.

Really ??

Isn't that illegal, surely if you return something they have to give you the amount listed on the receipt back for it.

i've noticed its usually the beginning of the week like you've noticed.

Something add to the main list:

:ps3:
29.98
[207-24-0162] Guitar Hero World Tour (game only) (added 06-26-09)

Saw this at Edina, MN, Target
Didn't FarCry 2 use to be on clearance? Finally found a copy to day and it was 30 bucks.
It was clearanced a while back until it went out of their system. Then they reordered more to sell at $29.99. They did the same with older clearance titles (Lego Indiana Jones, BF: Bad Company, The Club, etc.). This time they messed up and the game was scanning at the last known clearance price until they recently fixed the price in their system.
How are you guys doing this? Our Targets will only give you the current price on a return, even if you paid more, which kinda makes sense. It's part of the whole risk/reward of putting items out on clearance.
Wow, that sucks. I usually buy, buy another after next drop and return the first multiple times, as long as I can still find them ... I love the 3 month return policy. Plenty of time for drops to happen in that large a time frame.

Already posted I got it for $13 on monday.

Yes, that 90 return period has been quite a friend to me. I always keep my reciepts. I peel up the clearance sticker a little and then place the reciept under the sticker on the front of the game. This keeps the game and the reciept together. I also purchase games individually, instead of all together, so they can be on different reciepts.
that's what i was thinking too! :cold:

Target return policy says that seasonal clearance can only be returned for the current selling price. Seasonal merchandise should only include things like Easter candy, Xmas decorations, etc. It sounds like your store is interpreting all clearance as seasonal clearance and that is why they won't let you get a full refund. Everything depends upon the people you deal with at any particular store.
Exactly - I think it depends on your store and the CSR that you deal with. If you know 1 is a stickler then try another one on a different day/time. I agree that I think that situation is indeed mis-interpreting the policy and if you asked the store manager or even had them call corp then it would get resolved. Store is prob just trying to minimize the return of a clearanced item.
Isn't that illegal, surely if you return something they have to give you the amount listed on the receipt back for it.
I don't think it is illegal if that is the store policy and they tell you that policy before the purchase (on your receipt or posted by the registers / customer service area). Other stores like Michael's Crafts and Old Time Pottery I think do the same thing. I'm not 100% sure so don't quote me on that but I've heard my wife complain about the same situation at other stores.

I agree. 90 days to be able to hold a sealed game is plenty of time for the price to drop from 30% to at least 50% if not more. Of course you tie up your $ longer by buying and returning. Also it depends on the store and how they return / restock stuff. I've never had a problem going in, even close to the 90 days, and having them do a return/rebuy on the spot. Of course, I only do it when the item isn't in stock anymore. Otherwise I'd just do a normal return and then go get the thing I want at the new discounted price. I think one time it was a $40 price difference and the lady was like "WOW, good deal". I think it also is how you present it and what story you use (if it isn't in stock).
Not to nitpick but it will go down to $12.48 if it is $24.98 now.
I saw the following info here on CAG once a long while back but would it be benefitial to add it to the current OP for those (few) who venture there? I'm not exactly sure if this is accurate either. Pleas let me know of any corrections. I know some stores will make up their own price structure all together.

Target Clearance Price Structure
-----------------------------------------------------
| 100% | $59.99 | $49.99 | $39.99 | $29.99 | $19.99 |
-----------------------------------------------------
| 30% | $41.98 | $34.98 | $27.98 | $20.98 | $13.98 |
-----------------------------------------------------
| 50% | $29.98 | $24.98 | $19.98 | $14.98 | $ 9.98 |
-----------------------------------------------------
| 75% | $14.98 | $12.48 | $ 9.98 | $ 7.48 | $ 4.48 |
-----------------------------------------------------

What normally comes after 75% off? 85 or 90%? I rarely get a game when it is that low so I can't remember.

Also, the last 1 or 2 digits in the price tells you a lot too. I can't remeber all the reasons but the most common are:

$xx.00 - Special / temp price cut
$xx.99 - Retail / MSRP
$xx.98 - 1st level Clearance / Sale
$xx.48 - 2nd level Clearance (lowest price most ppl see)
$xx.74 - Final (lowest) Clearance.

I really think the xx.48 and xx.74 really depend on the initial value of the item. I think all this info was in the very original Target Clearance thead w-a-y back. I'd have to research to make sure.

Well im on my way to my Target, wish me luck! If i see any Left 4 Deads or other games, ill buy them and ill sell or trade them to any cags who ask... Ill report back here to let you know!
Add HAWX for 360 and NHL 09 for 360 to the list. Both @ 41.98
Thanks for the update! I'll keep an eye on HAWX but I just got NHL 09 in on a trade.

I'm sure people are going to ask so I might as well post it....

:360: 207-22-0242 - 014633155822 - NHL 09
:360: 207-22-0251 - 008888524144 - Tom Clancy's HAWX

Small typo in your chart: 75% off $19.99 is $4.98 rather than $4.48.

So I went back to the Target today at Broadway Mall on Long Island and found GH3, Clank, FEAR 2, Riddick, 50 Cent, PoP(1 copy and it was in a random basket by the clearence stuff), Ninja Blade($30), Loco Roco 2(I'm debating weather to get it or not), Basketball Shovelware 09, Wheelman(1 copy), RB2, GHWT, Wall-E, and Tiger Woods 09

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but the Targets in my area are dumping Afro Samurai. (360) I believe the current price is $14.99. Not known to be a stellar title, but then at that price it might still be worth having. I find a lot of Target clearance purchases are like that.

I picked up Prince of Persion $14.999, Guitar Hero 3 $7.98, and Loco Roco 2 $4.99 recently. It's always hit-and-miss, but Target has become the go-to store for video game clearance bargains.

Bah, dont be stealing my deals. Nah, just kidding man. I go to the hollister in that mall i was there today, normally i check when im there which is every other week but i didnt today, i can only drive so much with a permit. I want riddick and mirrors edge.
Riddick is still $41 at my Target, it seems to be a couple months behind on the clearance prices. :(
I know it seems like months, but it is weeks, really. I haven't found Riddick cheap either, the ones here that still have it are also $41.98.

There are some games though that defy these rules, I mean, some 59.99 titles drop to 12.48 or 9.98, which would be about 80% to 85% off. Its a good chart overall though, just a few exceptions that seem to through it off.
PSP

LocoRoco 2 4.98
Secret Agent Clank 9.98 I was happy XD
Exactly what I picked up yesterday at my Target.

Found rockband 2 on my shelf today. Last copy. I was shocked that it was properly stickered at $14.98 but no one had picked it up yet.

Finally picked up Star Ocean Second Evo at 9.98 today, came out of nowhere so I'm pleased. Stuck at 27.xx at another Target I frequent.

YES!

Found one lone Left 4 Dead at my Target for $12.48

I was walking around and saw Wheelman(PS3) for $41.98 but when scanned it read $14.98. I was contemplating getting it and walked around the store picking up a couple of other things. Finally went back to the DVD aisle and there was a employee stock cart and there I managed to spot the Left 4 Dead and picked it up right away leaving Wheelman behind.
