This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Anybody willing to trade my brand new copy of Saints Row 2 on Xbox 360 for either a brand new copy of Left 4 Dead or MK vs. DC on Xbox 360? Can't find those 2 games in store.

Here's a question, is the L4D a universal target drop? I saw a store last night with 5 non GOTY copies, I asked the guy to open the case to get me a price and he was like it's $59.99 without even scanning.

I did get Afro Samurai 360 for $14.xx and the PoP are still at $14.xx with about 10 copies left, been sitting at that price for 3 weeks now.
 
Pimpster, the L4D i picked up last week was hidden behind a bunch of GOTY editions priced 59.99. I asked the employee to scan it and it came up as 12.xx. Keep in mind that Target clearance prices are YMMV, though.
 
still very interested in a copy of left 4 dead. pm me if you can sell me one. ive looked at all 4 targets in my surrounding area and came up with nothing.

It was probably 12.98 you should have him scan it. The employees sometimes don't know about the price drop that or he knew and did not want you to get them (probably for himself). Most people posting here are from various states so i'm pretty sure its a drop in price almost everywhere.

If you're looking to trade Saint's Row 2 (based on the last sentence), you should reword your post. Otherwise it looks like you're asking for it.
 
You know I think it is pretty shameful that you guys go into these sales and just buy up all the copies to try and trade for a profit. I understand it, but it's still damn shameful. I have went to 4 different LV area Targets as soon as I hear about these deals and they are all always gone, so whoever the CAG is in Vegas who keeps doing this, can you do a guy a favor and PM me about possibly getting a copy of Gran Turismo Prologue, I think I have checked every Target I can check and they are all gone.

one cag was generous enough to buy me one and ship it to me.
 
I was just at the Skyview Road Target in Kansas City, Missouri. I saw Fear 2 for $25.98 with a red clearance tag underneath it. Just thought I would let you guys know.

Touche, I'm not saying that every CAG does it, the you guys that was bolded should have said "some of you guys". It was also meant as a jab to the hoarders on here, but like I said, I can understand, first come first serve when it comes to the deals. I just wish that Target advertised these deals so we could get Wal-Mart to match them. Also, on a different subject, why does Target even do this? They seem to clearance games rather quickly.

I think it is pretty shameful that your begging for a game. Again when you assume its a Cagger and not someone else buying every game thats a deal in LV thats lame. No one ever said being cheap would come easy.

PS3 games get clearanced less quickly than 360 games for two reasons:

1) There is less new releases for the PS3 from week to week
2) Most Targets have two cases dedicated to the PS3/Blu-Ray

Shelf space is directly proportional to how often a platform's games get clearanced. For example, you'll rarely see worthwhile Wii games get clearanced and that's because the Wii has at least three (sometime four) cases dedicated to.

Every Target only ever has one case for Xbox 360 games, couple that with a lot of releases every week and you'll get A LOT of 360 games being clearanced.

Target has very, very limited room for games... I think out of all the major chains, Target has zero display room, especially at the stores I've been too. 360 gets a case, PS3 gets a case (some Target's I've seen only give it half a case!!) while Wii and DS generally get multiple cases.

It seems if a game underperforms at Target, especially for PS3 / 360, they are very, very quick to clearance it out to make room for the multitude of new games that come out week after week.

I too have noticed that they are clearancing recent games pretty fast.. I mean, Riddick? Already?
 
I've been to 4 Targets in the LV area and found clearance stuff in every one. Not a lot but they weren't exactly cleaned dry of games. But in every one of them, none had Gran Turismo Prologue. Lots of other games though. One Target I went to had near 2 dozen games on clearance, and it was the middle of the day.

FINALLY Got a $12 copy of LIPS at my favorite local Target.

Been watching it there for a few weeks now, and it had NEVER been red tagged as a clearance item (even as of today). So when I went by there today, I picked up one (the last one), and scanned it out curiosity, and BAM!
It scanned for $12.48!!!

I happily bought it... just for the wireless Mic's!
Now, if HMX would just get off their asses and patch Rock Band 2 to support it....
 
I just saw about 10 to 12 copies of FEAR 2 for $12.48 at the Target in Woodland Hills on Ventura Blvd.

Just a side note on Gran Turismo Prologue. The game was not actually on clearance but rather a price mistake. After couple of days the price was corrected. Secondly, this "price mistake" was widely advertised in other broader forums e.g. FW SD. I actually got one because one store did not update the price tag and still showed $9.99 rather than $29.99. When the lady scanned the game it rung up as $29.99. She went back to look at the tag and gave it to me for $9.99. Last copy too and they were out of rachet & Clank.

Yeah, just realized they don't always put them in the case. When I looked right after someone posted they were all gone. What's weird is how they clearance the original version just to stock a greatest hits version.

Today, I finally scored a deal on Wheelman for PS3, it was under the LOTR conquest label instead of a Wheelman label asked the guy to scan it and after quite a while, he finally scanned it for me. It rang up for $14.98, I found some of the other games listed here, but they didn't scan up like Wheelman did. There happened to be another CAG in the store and he bought the other one, not sure if the clerk was a CAG cause him and the other guy seemed to know each other and the other guy said he used to work at the store and that store was very good about putting the clearance prices on the games, but when it scanned, it scanned for $14.98 so I bought one and the other CAG bought the other one.

Went to another store but wasn't able to find any of the other titles. They did have a FEAR 2, but it rang up at $29.98, not the price some other markets are going for.

You probably got lucky, when I went back to the same store I was at a week ago, they had re-stocked both titles as "greatest hits" and the labels for the older versions were gone. They seemed to clearance both of these titles to stock the greatest hits labeled versions.
 
Picked up Fear 2 (XBOX 360) for $12.48. just and FYI if you happen to want to trade it in at gamestop and have 5 other games to trade also (GS tiered trade deal) you get 22.50 trade in credit for it.

Do the "greatest hits" versions come in a different case? The one I bought had a red sticker on the plastic wrapping that was thrown away with the plastic. Other than that the game looks like a regular title?

Why would I take offense ? Because you wont get every game that hits clearence at the magical 75% off . You are obviously a wise newbie and you are correct every game I get to hoard has been hidden in the ladies under garment deptment and if you your self would like to find it by all means please start searching every target you may find . Its SD trolls like you that came here in the BB boom that makes me not post my location or how many copies of xx game I find . Other than being ignorant and arogant your correct ! I also saw 50 + copies of GH III at 4 targets I bought them all and plan on making a fort out of them so your sol if your looking for that game . Beg harder and Ill think about it . :D

Yes. Greatest Hits are in a red case iirc, as opposed to a clear one.

Well to answer my own question, I got a copy of L4D for $12.48. For anyone else in the Chicagoland area, there were 6 or 7 more copies located behind the GOTY editions in Niles, IL.
