This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Since we are talking about hoarding, can we talk about hiding games next? We need like 5 more pages of silly arguing back and forth. Nothing makes this thread harder for lurkers to find info.
Do the "greatest hits" versions come in a different case? The one I bought had a red sticker on the plastic wrapping that was thrown away with the plastic. Other than that the game looks like a regular title?

Yes. Greatest Hits are in a red case iirc, as opposed to a clear one.
The typical greatest hits cases are red, but I'm guessing a rare few regular cases are "converted" to greatest hits cases by adding the red sticker. That was the case with PS2 greatest hits, at least. I bought a couple clearance titles at Target that just had the red sticker. It's easy to notice if you look at the case from the side.

Personally I like the women's underwear section approach. What guy is going to go in there to look for games? :p

PS - im not a hoarder , I mean who can afford to buy 100 copies of Fiffy's BOTS to turn a profit ? not me thats why I have a job , but hobbie is right it is a free country and people can do as they please . squaking with a SD lurker is silly . I could move to LV and go hoarder just to drive the nestle's orge bonkers , but the time and effort isnt worth it when I can just go and hide in the ladys under garment section at target ( yes I have decide to hoard myself ) . At this hour I should just take the day and hit up target ! Still not a hoarder but I crush alot . :)

For any CAGs in the San Diego area, I just came back from the one in Santee and 1 L4D non-GOTY behind all the GOTY copies in the case. Got a price check on it and indeed it is $12.48, but I didn't buy it.

So there's a single one there, definitely none at Mira Mesa.
anyone see any L4D in the So Cal area, I've been looking for a couple weeks now w/ no luck. Thanks
Was just posted on the last page:

I just saw about 10 to 12 copies of FEAR 2 for $12.48 at the Target in Woodland Hills on Ventura Blvd.

Why are you still posting

How about less e-fighting and more on topic. Thanks. Anyway. All the Targets in Irvine have no games worth to mention.. except for a bajillion copies of FEAR 2 at 50% off..

haha next it'll be in the baby section and then the cooking isle. Seriously people hiding games? its great to find a deal especially with some of the games on clearance, but eventually these games will go on sale at some point. I wish I could find a copy of L4D but it probably won't happen. Anyways happy looking to everyone and people probably shouldn't gloat if that's happening in these post. Its just sad. :bouncy:
Why would I take offense ? Because you wont get every game that hits clearence at the magical 75% off . You are obviously a wise newbie and you are correct every game I get to hoard has been hidden in the ladies under garment deptment and if you your self would like to find it by all means please start searching every target you may find . Its SD trolls like you that came here in the BB boom that makes me not post my location or how many copies of xx game I find . Other than being ignorant and arogant your correct ! i just hid a stack of L4D in the woman's panties section as well by coinciendce LOL, i'm waiting for them to drop to 12.xx then i'm gonna buy them all so the sd trolls can't get them!

I demand that if you go after stashes in the panties that you slobber profusely and proclaim out loud I'M LOOKING FOR TREASURE when retrieving everything.
Nothing wrong with hoarding and flipping. It's a free country. First come, first served.
Well if anyone bothered to read my first post, they would have noticed that I said that. It is definitely first come first serve and that I understood. I was not assuming anything either to whoever said that. My comment was triggered by actually reading through the previous 10 pages and the CAG's bragging about how he bought 12 copies or something like that of L4D, sorry if I offended alot of you on here that was not my intention. However, to whomever it was who said I was ignorant and arrogant, some of the Veterans are very rude and seem to think that because they heard about this site before some of us others that they have a right to be rude and self centered. Think of it as the cool people who listen to a band first and then the band gets big and they continue to bash others because they didn't hear about the band until the got a little airplay. Either way, I'm not condeming hoarding, have at it, your right, it's a free country and you have the right, I was not trying to take away your rights as American Citizens.

And to all the Veterans, thanks to the ones who are courteous and to the others, remember, you reap what you sow.

Wait, do you guys really hide it in the panties o_O What happens when someone actually wants to buy the panties and they find them, lol

the only time I ever hid anything was Last Remnant for 360 behind some pianos (smaller kind that came in a box)

two weeks later it still hadn't dropped though and when I finally checked again another week or two later it was gone

Either way, hoarders are scum.

Ive hidden one thing, Far Cry 2 and it was found. Luckily whoever found it put in in the wrong place and I found it by accident.

I'm a little late to the party, but if someone can get a new copy of Left 4 Dead from Target and is willing to ship it to me for $15, I'd be grateful. Just PM me and we'll set something up. I checked 3 Targets in my area and no luck.

I enjoyed reading that.

Also, lots of Prince of Persia in the Target in Eastlake for 15. But their Live 09 is ringing up for 25 for some reason. Didn't check for L4D though. FEAR 2 still going for 25.

I made a mistake once of hiding a clearence game in one of those baskets in the world section. I figured it wouldnt sell. I never found the game, i sure hope no one walked with it for free or set the sensors off :[

So you are offering $2.52 to cover sales tax, a padded envelope, shipping, and my time and effort.

Post in the trade thread, not here, Capt. Generous.

The store doesn't need to scan a copy of the game to lower the clearance price on it? Do they just do it in the system or something? I never bothered because I always figured if you hid the last copy of a game it'd never drop because they do it manually (just assumed this because all my Targets have diff clearance prices, maybe I was wrong.)

Edit: Didn't read OP, nevermind.

Don't forget the .74 in PayPal fess, which leaves you only $1.78 to cover the sales tax, mailer, shipping, delivery confirmation, time and effort.

Back on topic, not much new at my local Target only new thing I saw was Tomb Raider PS3 for $20.98.

Last time that happened, I went home with a pair of panties AND a cheap clearance game. Nothing wrong with THAT. ;)

I'll try that next time but i think i already had enuf woman starring at me wondering what i was doing in "their" section of the store but if i get arrested i'm gonna use my one call to ring you up and you'll have to be the one to bail me out!!!

PS What are some other good places to hide games?

Until this morning, I had not checked in on this thread for a while mainly because lately my Target's have been selling the clearance games before any substantial drops. Went on my lunch break to check for L4D and happened to spot one regular edition mixed in with the GOTY editions in the case. Scored it for 12.50. Great deal. The look on the employee's face was great as well, as I could tell he was annoyed checking the price...

Thats who I saw... at the Hempstead Tnpk Target....

only on a few occasions that i have ever hid games anywhere. I usually go to the baby section and hide them in with the baby seats (the ones that are on display).. lol the wife thinks i am little crazy!! but i am not a hoarder just looking to get me a copy. However yesterday on a lunch break at the levittown target a grabbed 2 L4D that i am looking trade. (one of them is already gone).

I am not trying to go against people flipping and stuff. But hiding games is scummy.

If you want to flip and buy out all copies of a game, and you beat me to it, than fine. But turning this into a treasure hunt is classless and unfair. Oh well. Kids these days, haha. Just kidding. But seriously, hiding is fuck up.
Anyone know what the discount is if you open the Target Credit card?
10%... not worth it unless you're buying something big, IMO.

Almost a total bust today. Went to 7 SoCal targets today and was ready to leave empty handed. At my last store I found GT 5 Prologue scanned at 29.99, but the tag on the shelf was 9.99. The cashier called the manager and she had no problem overriding it because it was marked on the shelf. Gas used was about six dollars.
All the targets I went to; FEAR 2 was coming up 24.99 or higher.
Please mods have these stashers posts deleted. We don't wanna hear it. You do it, we can't stop you but keep it to yourselves.
WORD !

I dont know whats worse , doing it or bragging about it .

Oh and ICEE's are .99 cents Whhoohooo .
I just saw about 10 to 12 copies of FEAR 2 for $12.48 at the Target in Woodland Hills on Ventura Blvd.
My girlfriend just went to that target today at 1pm and couldn't find FEAR 2 in the clearance section or in the display case. She even asked the clerk if they had clearance games in other sections of the store and somehow managed to find a lone copy in a shopping cart (hopefully not someone's cart but one filled with random junk). Some hoarder must've read your post last night and decided to buy 10 copies this morning and hide one but it was found by an employee and decided to toss it into a cart. Damn hoarders!!!

OK I decided to try this out and got some startling results..... I had some old lady tell me she had some treasure in her panties. :puke:

Oh well at least I have a date for the weekend....just dont let my wife know!

on the flip side nothing else dropped on my side, especially in the womens undergarments section, but I promise to keep tabs on it!
I agree. And I'll one up you and say that flipping is scummy also.
id rather have someone hide a game and buy it with the intentions of playing the game. than for someone to buy games just to let gamestop to make a profit on it. come on 2-5 bucks flipping a game is so week when someone would die to have it in there collection

Yeah, God forbid CAGs can help their fellow CAGs out. I know there are those on this forum who represent that kind of generosity, so I won't hold your behavior against them.

Secondly, since this is a Target only deal, asking a fellow CAG to pick up an extra copy here is appropriate.

Finally, if you can acquire a new copy for me, tell me what you think is a fair price. This is Cheap Ass Gamer, not Sarcastic Ass Gamer.

I'm always hesitant to mention locations because of just this reason. I figure most caggers are like me and make the rounds of their local targets so it makes it unneccesary to state which one you found what at. I only do it when someone specifically asks where they can find a certain game in the SFV or SoCal area. Glad you at least got one!
