This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Drops are usually weekly.. my Targets usually do them on Monday. I head over in the day or the evening and games are usually cheaper by then.

Just keep it. It's one thing if you notice in-store or even in the parking lot but once your home, you would have to go out of your way to correct their mistake/laziness. In the long run, it's such a minor thing that you shouldn't worry about it. The cashier would also get in trouble and (in my experience) sometimes the manager/cashier will even be annoyed that you have brought it to their attention.

Been stuck on $29.98 for weeks at my local store. I am getting annoyed.

I think my Target drops prices at random. I have seen drops between Tuesday and Saturday. I can't figure them out but I think there might be certain employees driving the drop dates and taking advantage of them. There will be stacks of games at $41.98 for two weeks. I will check on a Monday and still the same. Check on Wednesday, same. Saturday, almost gone, Other times the pattern is totally different. I have seen price changes between Saturday and Monday.
 
Checked yesterday at my local target:

Riddick still $41.98
Ninja Blade still $27.98
NHL 09 still $41.98

50 Cent dropped to $14.98
Bunch of crap Wii games (aren't they all, sorry but my wii is a great dust collector.)
No Endwar Bundles

I dont get why Riddick, Ninja Blade and NHL 09 are still stuck at those prices. They obviously check the endcap because they add to it and adjust the price on some. I know that it depends on the district (territory) that your in on the drops but my Target have had the same amount of the titles listed above at several targets and have not sold a single one. Frustrating!

Me too. I am about to give up and just buy it where it's at. Still cheaper than anywhere else, but man the inconsistency everywhere is annoying as hell. Oh well, could still be $60 I guess.

Thanks to this, and other posts like this, I picked up 50 Cent as my 50% off game. This game is a blast, so glad I put back Ninja Blade for this. Thanks for putting me on a fun game that I would have passed on.

Here's how it worked:

Got Riddick 14.98, got 50 Cent 7.49. I made sure I payed up front away from the huge sign that says "regular priced games 14.99 and up." The computer automatically game me the discount. I'm happy.
 
So I'm pretty sure my Target has a copy of L4D regular edition stuck behind the GOTY editions, but the guy wouldn't open the case and check when I asked him last night, even after I told him I thought I saw one back there. I'll be over there again Sunday and hopefully a) it's still there, and b) someone else is in there that WILL check.

Just to check though...I saw about three GOTY edition spines, but the fourth or so back, all I could make out was that it looked like the red spot with the "4" in it was further down the spine. That's a regular one, right? I figured it'd be further down the spine since they don't have to put "Game of the Year Edition" after it.

Believe me, I would have pursued it further if I wasn't on my way to work at the time. He insisted that all they carried were the GOTY editions though - wasn't rude about it or anything, but still ticked me off.

Just tell the red shirt that you want L4D and when he opens it just say you want the one in the back.
 
I havent read this thread in a while, so dont know if someone posted this yet. Last night I went to my Target and they had 3 50 Cent 360 games for 14.98 and 1 Riddick 360 for 41.98. Lastly if anyone wants it, they had NCAA 09 PS3 for 7.98. They had a few I beleive.

Problem is I'm not exactly sure if it IS one. I can't see it clearly since there were three or four cases in front of it, but I'm pretty sure I caught a glimpse of a regular edition in the very back.

you're the customer... they can open the case and browse through and if it not it no big deal.

Don't know if this has been said, but check the '4' on the spine also. The '4' on the regular edition will not line up with the '4' on the GOTY edition. That's how I spotted a few.

That's what tipped me off. I noticed that the red spot with the 4 in it was further down the spine on the back one.

Should be going over to Target tomorrow to pick some stuff up, so I'll just ask to look inside the case, pretend to be looking at a couple games, then just so happen to notice a non-GOTY L4D in the back. :)

Fear 2 for the PS3 is now on clearance at $34.98. I've never seen this one before (only the 360 version.)

F'ing HAWX and Riddick were till $41.98... Ninja Blade at $19.98. I am waiting for NB to drop to 9.98.

I dunno why but I picked up another EndWar PS3 in case any CAG wants it. (PM me) I swung by target after dropping off a EndWar at the post office for another CAG. I dunno, EndWar at 22.48 is too damn cheap to pass up.
 
How often do you guys find your Target's have the game prices reduced but don't mark them? There are a ton of games on this list I want, but the actual games my Targets have clearanced is terrible. They either have no games that are good, or they have games priced higher on clearance than I can find them elsewhere at full price.

My store has a lot of these games still, most of them in the case. I was going to try printing out the UPCs to see if that works, but wasn't sure if it is worth doing.

Also, do the printed UPCs usually work? It seems like everytime I print anything with a barcode the store always has to enter them manually.

Each store's Clearance and Price Cuts are per store not nation wide and the reason why you see most people hit 3-4 stores in a day to find what has been marked down.

Thanks. I guess I will try a few and see what happens. My two closest Target stores are about a half-hour apart and I don't usually have enough time to go to both of them and even when I get to one it is usually on the weekends.

I'd love to snag a couple of these deals, something about playing a cheap game makes it feel so much better ;)
 
My Target had a whole bunch of Out of System Prince of Persias, mistagged at $29.98. When I tried to get it for 10%, they offered me the sticker price. I asked if I could get it for 10%, as I heard that was the policy for Out of System merchandise, and they said no. I told them that I just bought this game last week for $14.98 at this Target, and they still said no. And then they told me that the game will simply stay on the shelf until it's sold for the sticker price.

I went to two cashiers and a customer service rep. Is there any official store policy on this?

Probably not, when it is OOS, your out of luck unless one of the employees just feels like giving you it for the 10%.

if you see a person with one of those hand scanners.. they will usually be able to scan the last listed price in the computer with that thing... i've done it before and haven't seen a time where something ALSO comes up OOS on a handscanner... even real old clearance that magically turned up months later on the rare occasion... you should be able to get it at least for the last marked price (15 most likely altho some have reported 7)
 
If an item rings up at 0.00, they'll just entire the price tag that's on the front. I picked up a game for $14 that way, although considering how new it was, I'm thinking someone accidentally flipped the 1 and the 4 making the price tag.

You'll be really annoyed when someone buys the last copy for $29.98. FEAR 2 was a decent price but never dropped at my store. But people who don't do the CAG-type bargain hunting just see that FEAR 2 costs a lot less than $60 and pick it up.

BUT, you need to be SMART and realize that 'feeling good' for YOU might mean getting someone written up or FIRED in a case like this which in the end is going to make you feel like crap anyway.

If you just walk in there all high and self-righteous you are litterally throwing up a red flag saying 'LOOK AT THIS DUMB CASHIER GVING ME SOMETHING FOR FREE!'

In today's economy do you think these stores will look at that lightly with so many other people out of work and willing to be cashiers too?

NO.

The ONLY way you may get around this is to go back one day when you SEE the cashier and let them know what happened and ask them if there's a way to fix it without them getting in trouble.

They will most likely feel a little embarressed but will be totally willing to 'sooth your conscience' and getting this fixed without them getting shafted. They will problably thankyou happily that you didnt screw them over.

Because Target losing out on a clearance item isn't going to kill there profits.

However that cashier (since you dont know their situation) might end up getting fired and it'll start a whole negative snowball effect on their lives over a POS clearance game.
 
thanks to the op and the people that keep updating this thread, was able to pick up a couple copies of 50 cent for $15, prostreet for $13. I keep seeing endwar for the ps3 mentioned, happen to see the bundle, but they wanted $63 for it. After getting it scanned, that was the real price
 
Riddick has been $30 for weeks now. I decided just to pick it up today along with another 360 game for 50% off and be done with it. By the time it drops someone else would have probably got it first anyway. And even at $30 it's a good deal.

Seriously, they take FOREVER to get their pricing down. I think 3-4 weeks after I heard of Far Cry 2 for $10, I found it there.

Ummmm yeah . I wouldn’t point out the cashier who did it obviously , but just say it was not rung up . I had to return a shirt today and asked if I should bring back something that wasn’t rung up and she was like if you want to . She acted like it wasn’t a big deal so I will watch my back for a pissed Fiddy wanting his scrilla .

The only game of note I saw today was Riddick (X360) for $14.98 at the Target in Rosemont, IL. Only one copy left...the biggest shock was that there were only two total 360 games there and probably around 15-20 PS3 games. It's usually the other way around! :p

Same for me. I have found stuff in the clearance section (which consists of three titles at the moment) that is still at full price.

I'm still trying to find a Target that has good deals :cry:

Most likely the employee bought the game after you left and it's now on Ebay.

Not that I'm cynical or anything.

I have seriously considered doing the same thing, but sadly I can't find another game I would even pay 1/2 price for. I see several 50 Cent games for $15 and considered it, but I am far from a hip hop fan and the thought of having to listen to that music through the whole thing turned me off. Nothing else there looks interesting. Dangit!

I picked up 2 copies of 50 cent BOTS got the other half off. The target by my house got all of their end war bundle bought out. There were at least 6 when i saw them on Tuesday. The target by my work still has them at 44.98 only 6 bundles.
 
Anyone know of any good deals in the Mass area? Framingham and Milford targets have pretty terrible clearance, like maybe 7 titles total and nothing even interesting.
