This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Here in Salinas we have an endcap in the back of the store near the DVDs with all the clearance games. Sometimes it's in the back of the games or another endcap in electronics, just walk the back aisle and you should find it.

Picked up two Henry Hatsworth's at the MB target. I work nearby so I went back to work as I grabbed them. As my shift ended I was getting ready to open one of them only to find out that it was already opened and the game was missing!

It had been about two hours since I bought it so I figured I would have a tough time returning it. Surprisingly, the girl at the register told me to grab another one. There were a total of four when I first went but when I came back there were none . She called a sup over and I could tell he did not believe me and was trying to brush me off. He offered me store credit, which I would've accepted but when I asked if they would get more HH in stock he said yes. I confirmed eventhough it was on clearance and he just kept nodding his head. I could tell he was BSing so I told him I didn't believe he was taking me serious. He told me I could take it to another store and get it exchanged there; that bugged me even more and he had one of the cashiers print out an inventory listing. He said to have the store call their store to confirm it was ok to echange it. Not wanting to go through the hastle I saw a congragation of people wearing red with nicer looking pants...they had to be managers...which they were!

I explained the situation and they all apologized and issued me an imemdiate refund. They were also upset at the guy who told me to go to another store and I could hear them telling him that is not how a customer should be treated. Serves him right for brushing me off. I hope the asshole who stole the game originally gets his comeupance, too!

If it had a price sticker and you like the price then take it to a register and they will just punch in the price (most of the time). If the sticker has a 50 or 30 on it, tear it off. They are going to try to sell it to you for that price.

Now, you can either take game through a checkout and tell the cashier what you want to pay for it (believe it or not, this has worked) or find someone with a hand scanner and see if they can look up the last known price.

They may sell it for that price or they may just say that they cannot sell it and they have to send it off.

Go in Monday morning (or whenever your store updates prices) and find the people with scanners, and ask them nicely if you can see what the last price was, because it scans as 0.00 on the store scanners.

They can't sell it to you cause it's already been salvaged. I had the same thing happen to me with an extra copy of FEAR 2 over the weekend.

Not true. It depends, and it's always YMMV. If you find a person with a hand scanner, they can definitely tell you what the last price in the system was. Yes, they can refuse the sale, if they want, but most of the time I get what I want for the last price in the store/system.

It's good to attempt this during slow times, instead of a busy Saturday afternoon. The reason being that folks with the scanners will likely be more cooperative and/or easier to find.

I found a copy of FEAR 2 that was missing the outer cardboard sleeve (it also didn't have the clearance stickers). I'm wondering if someone was up to some shenanigans and put the sleeve over a different (more expensive) game.

Does the cardboard have it's own UPC or does it have a cutout that shows the UPC off of the case?

The cardboard indeed has its own UPC (I have a fear 2 right here with me). So it is possible someone may have tried the swapping. Who knows if they got away with it hahaha but yeh when I bought it they had them in the sleeves with plastic cases so there was no chance of them switching on me.

I don't know how the hell they got that sleeve off in one piece...I had to rip mine open to get it off. I thought they glued it on, but it was just super tight.

Some Targets, in high shrinkage areas, will single stack the games in the case and you have to ask to see them (until they are $14.98 or less and then they are end-capped, even then sometimes not). The Marietta- 41/Cobb Pkwy store does this and it makes me furious. I can't blame them though, I front pocket my wallet in that store the regulars are so bad.

Just came back from Target and most of the games are one markdown behind. Madworld was gone and did not have a shelf tag, so I don't know if they sold out or if they are moving them. There were a few new wii games on clearance, including Sonic Riders and Call of Duty 3.

The only good deals were Riddick for the PC for $10 and Crazy Machines for the PC $2.48.

Yeah mine finally just dropped to $11.24 after probably sitting for 3 weeks at $22.48. Still had all 5 copies that had been sitting there for 1 1/2 months or so too.

I went to Target near North Points Mall, GA around 12:15 today, and nothing dropped yet. The clerk who scanned the PS3 versions of Riddick and Fear 2(both still above the $20 mark) said today the clearance games are usually marked down. Guess I will try again after work(fingers crossed). I did see, however, Motostorm @ 7.xx and Pacific Rift at 14.xx.

Didn't see any significant drops but it seems like my local Targets finally started catching up with putting some of the more recent clearance games out... (PS3 Bionic Commando, Tomb Raider, Blood In The Sand, 20 copies of Dead Space, etc).

I did manage to snag a Motorstorm: Pacific Rift for $14.98, but only due to a mixup-- the clearance games at one store are all in the plastic cases and the clearance taggers have gotten lazy and just put stickers on the plastic case, not the game itself. Well, PR was in a case tagged $14.98 so I went to pay and it rang up $29.98. The guy remembered me from last week asking if it had dropped (since someone had moved it totally away from the clearance area and I wasn't sure if the clearance team had dealt with it) and just sold it to me for the $14.98 as mis-tagged. (I know that's law/policy but it was cool he didn't even bat an eye) So lucked out there, especially since PR refuses to drop at my stores (it was $41.98 for 1 week and has been $29.98 for over a month, not that it's selling!)

I found a lone copy of HAWX priced at $14.98. When I picked the game up, I noticed that the plastic seemed loose. I checked the y-seal and it didn't look right but the 360 security sticker on the side seemed intact. I held the case up to the light and looked through the bottom end and sure enough, the disc was missing. My guess is that someone bought it and took the disc out. Then they resealed it and returned it. |

I'm not sure about keeping Motorstorm since I can pick it up used at GS for $10.49 (after PS3 coupon + Edge). Actually, I had meant to pick it up for $7.99 when it was the used deal of the week but I forgot. #-o

FFCC:Eot was still at $27.98 but I guess they sold 2 copies since there are only 2 left. Who the hell is buying that game at 30% off? WTF?

I didn't see many copies of WWE Legends of Wrestlemania at the Targets in my area so I may have to go the return/rebuy route when it hits 50% off.

Just picked up Motorstorm (7.xx) and Motorstorm: PR (14.xx). I'll never have time to play them, but I couldn't help myself.

There were alot more of both of them (clearance rack is by the tvs). Also copies of riddick for ps3 and lotr conquest. They were 20-30 i think.

Just left my local Target in SoCal. They had a few copies of Fear 2 (PS3) for 24.98, one copy of Motorstorm for 24.98 (!), a ton of SWTFU (PS2) for 9.98, one copy of Chronicles of Riddick (360) for 14.98, and one copy of Madworld for 14.98 (which I picked up).

There was an employee changing the prices when I showed up and I swear he was the SLOWEST person in the world! OK, maybe not the world, but he was pretty slow.

At two of my local targets in Co Springs I found one copy of HAWX for 14.98 which I took up and about 10 to 15 copies of Rock Band 2 for about 24.98 I think it was and about 10 NCAA Football 09 for 20.98 too

Went to the two Target within 1 mile of each other in Tustin/Irvine. Almost no new drops at the Tustin one. Disappointed because I really wanted Motorstorm: Pacific Rift. However, I was luckier at the Irvine branch. Picked up F.E.A.R 2 at 75% off (there was still about 4-5 left)! Here's the kicker though: I think some employee found a hoader's stash of Pokemon Sapphire games.. because though all of them sold out last week, there was a sole copy left at 75% off marked at 30%. Snagged it real quick. Will probably sell it on Craigslist because I sold my other copy for $30 even. Woot.

I haven't noticed a Sunday drop in my area but it seems like others have posted what seem to be Sunday drops. The thing is that we don't know if Sunday drops are early or just real late. The latest I've seen a Target do it's clearance game drops is on a Thursday.

In the two/three short weeks I've been keeping up with my Target, it seems that they do price drops on Monday. Can't say for certain, but it definately seems that way.

Anyway, I just came back from my Target and got a copy of Pikmin for $7.48. I must have lucked out because there was a pretty big crowd surrounding the clearance endcap, and the copy I grabbed (the last one) was labeled $20.98. There's no way it would have still been there if it was labeled right.

Motorstorm: PR finally dropped to $29.98, but that's still more than I'd pay for it since I'm not a huge fan of racing games. No change in FEAR 2, which is still staying strong at $24.98. I was really hoping that one would drop this week since I'm moving to a different town for college on Sunday and won't be able to hit this Target regularly. The one in the other town had a pretty good selection when I checked last week, but it doesn't have FEAR 2. Bah.

YMMV, really depends on the store itself. Most will have the price changes done by lunch on Mondays. Some start earlier; like the weekend before on Saturdays and Sundays. Then again, some stores take another week or two for those same prices to trickle-down. You'll get a good feel for each store once you visit them enough.
