This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Thanks for the Info IATCG. I've seen a few things with the as is sticker on them on one of the clearance end caps. I always assumed something was wrong with them (including a socom bundle that looked fine). Maybe there was nothing wrong other than the fact that someone had returned a clearance item.
Actually, my still sealed and by sealed I mean perfectly sealed(there wasn't even ONE nick in the shrinkwrap)copy of FEAR 2 went from $24.98(price I paid) to $12.48(the price it was at the store I returned it too).

But they DID slap an as-is sticker on it.
It must be YMMV because I return things quite often, and they never put an AS-IS sticker on things. They often don't even bother to put a new price sticker on the returned item if it's lower (which is why I returned it).

Well, thing is I removed the clearance stickers from all three games I bought from one Target and then returned to a different one, so that may have been WHY they did it.

I mean, I understand it's probably going to be a huge YMMV, but you just never know.

Most likely those purchased clearance items that were returned were being marked with as-is stickers because they had already been worked out of the system. We don't end up with many as-is stickered items at the store I go to, but the items that do end up with them are normally either opened items or very old stock that you wonder where it came from.

Like the copies of XBlades for PS3 that just popped up outta nowhere for friggin' $41.98 a copy last night. I mean, the other local Target had them on clearance and they dropped to $15 a copy(I think) and then they were gone.

Then again, my local Target stores NEVER seem to be up-to-date on pricing or sometimes don't have the same games on clearance as everyone else I see mentioning this title or that.
I've seen the as-is sticker on a bunch of stuff(GPS systems, portable HDD's, etc), so I guess they do do it for everything on clearance that gets returned.
Thanks, I think I'm going to have to try and make a visit to my Target this weekend and do some more in depth searching. I have this little feeling that I may not have found the true stash of discounted games yet, especially now that you mention the As-Is sticker, I've never seen one at the Target I go to. I also go to the clearance game end-cap when I'm looking for a game, but have noticed that something things I check show up with a different isle number, since they recently changed everything around, I was just thinking they had it marked wrong, so that is where I will start. Maybe I will get lucky and discover that my Target isn't so bad after all :bouncy: Man, there are so many times I've wished Target was a 24 hour store :D

just picked up Warhawk on PS3 with Jabra bluetooth head set for 20 bucks. X-Blades was 30 and Dead space was 24$. this was the target in Van Nuys, Ca.
I found out about a neat little trick from a Target employee tonight while asking where the hell they dug up 2 copies of XBlades for the PS3 from, since it clearanced already at one of the local stores, but this store never had copies in during that period.

Anyway, they told me(and I paraphrase here): If you buy something on clearance and then return it, it gets bumped up to 50% off and gets an 'as-is' sticker put on it.

This 'trick' may be useful for those of you waiting for the SOCOM bundles to drop in price, as you could potentially return/rebuy after buying one for $41.98(only price I've seen for them).

Only problem is, some stores may wait 24 hours before putting back out stuff that's been returned and restickered with an as-is sticker. This was NOT the case with a copy of FEAR 2 that I bought at a local Target and then returned to a further away one(which already had the 50% pricing in effect making it $12.48 no matter what).

I ended up rebuying it as it was coming from the returns desk to electronics with the new 'as-is' sticker on it.

I wonder if this 'trick' works with new stuff that's returned too or just the clearance items?
as interesting as this sounds, I dont think it would work for really high priced items like TVs idont know i could try it?
Actually, my still sealed and by sealed I mean perfectly sealed(there wasn't even ONE nick in the shrinkwrap)copy of FEAR 2 went from $24.98(price I paid) to $12.48(the price it was at the store I returned it too).

I'm willing to try this little 'trick' I was told about earlier today and if indeed it works, I shall exploit it immensely to get the games I want down to the price I wanna pay.

If it doesn't work though, then so be it, since I'll have returned the game and got my money back and they'll still have a product to sell someone else.
FYI,

I think this instant bump to 50% off may work if the clearance item is not past the 50% mark already. I bought Hawx when I was out of state for $15 plus tax then when I returned home, I saw it reduced to $15 as well and since my state's sales tax was 50% less the tax where I bought my first copy, I purchased it and returned the out-of-state one (actually only save about $1 - yep I'm a CAG). Then later a friend is looking for Hawx so I go back to my store the next morning and fiind it marked with an As-Is sticker but the price is still $14.97. If they put it at the 50% point, it would have gone up to $30 so I guess it makes sense that they only mark donw to 50% if its not already below that.

the targets around here are way to conservative on buying games for the department. They get like 5 copies of games, and they usually sell out before it hits clearance. On the off chance they do have it go to clearance, it usually sell at 50% or higher.

I would consider the return/rebuy. But I don't live close to a target to work this.
Just thought I'd mention that the Target at the Irvine Spectrum has like not games past the 30% mark.
That seems to nearly always be the case at the Spectrum. They have such a high amount of foot traffic I barely ever check there myself. I'd be interested to hear if people that work at the Spectrum or visit quite often do find deals...
Does anyone have any opinions on Sonic Unleashed :ps3: I played the demo on PS3 and liked it, but I have read so many reviews saying it is so much better on Wii, so I was planning to get it on Wii. However, at basically half price for the PS3 version I don't think the Wii would be that much better. Plus, my Wii collection is huge, whereas my PS3 needs help.

I think my Target still had a copy or two left when I was there the other day, so I'm thinking if it is a good game I might pick it up for $15.

Thanks!
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, get this game. If you're a Sonic fan, get rid of your preconceived notions (if you have them) that current-gen Sonic games are horrible, and you will likely have a blast with this game.

I bought the Xbox 360 version for $50 back when it came out. I wasn't planning on it originally, but I saw that the game's reception within the Sonic community was surprisingly positive. I was not disappointed with my purchase at all, and it actually turned out to be one of my favorite games that year. The amount of heart and soul put into the game has always surprised me, it has a lot of character and is very well polished.

I think that the reviewers did not "get" this game, or rather, they didn't even consider giving it a chance. In fact, it was sometimes rated even lower than Sonic 06, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I just think it's sad a game like this was treated so poorly simply because it carried Sonic's name.

By the way, the reviewers may have preferred the Wii / PS2 version, but I can tell you that's not the case with die hard Sonic fans. The 360/PS3 version has at least 1 (I think even 2, but I'm not sure) extra world in it, which turned out to be a fan favorite. There are also the hub worlds in the 360/PS3 version, which is where a lot of the character comes through if you don't mind a bit of slower-paced "chill time"

My biggest complaint is that they used the name Eggman instead of Dr. Robotnik

Thanks a million. I'm planning to head over there tonight (need to restock on my Ultra Violet anyway :D ) and when I checked with the online thing last night it was showing up. Regardless of which version is better, I'm going to get it for PS3 if I can find it because I have so few games for the system. Like I said, I've played the demo and I thought it was awesome, I've played it so many times I've lost count. But when I've asked on other boards I was told that was the best level and it starts to go downhill from there, so I was a little nervous.

Do you have any opinions on Sonic the Hedgehog (I think that is the name) for PS3. I seen on here that it is on clearance as well, don't know if I can find it, but I wasn't sure if it was any good.

The only current-gen Sonic I have is Sonic and the Secret Rings :wii: which I really like (I had Sonic Rivals :psp: but just traded it because I couldn't get into it) I'm planning to get at least one of the other Sonic games for Wii.

Thanks again for your reply!!

A difference in opinion...

I rented the game to play with my g/f who is a big sonic fan. We enjoyed the levels where we ran all around superfast like classic sonic... but the levels where you turned into a monster/werehog at night totally put us off and caused us to stop playing through the game.

just IMHO of course.

I wouldn't say the game goes downhill after that level. I will say that it gets a lot harder. The demo level is a pretty straight forward speed-fest if I remember right, but as the game goes on, you start to have to do more platforming / precision timing stuff. It can be a little frustrating at times, but what game isn't?

The Werehog thing is something you should be aware of. A lot of people would have liked the game more if it was just the day-time normal Sonic levels, but I myself didn't mind the Werehog. I actually thought it was a nice change of pace, as the fast levels in this game are... well, FAST. The Werehog gameplay is more of a brawler / platformer type thing. If you aren't interested in that at all, then you might not like it too well. Though let me just say, I was one of the guys saying "What on earth is Sega thinking?" when the whole Werehog thing was announced, but when I got the game, I thought it was pretty clever in terms of story and gameplay.

All that I can say about Sonic the Hedgehog (06) is what I've gathered from the demo. It seems like it was less based on speed than Unleashed, and the controls are WAY too touchy. It's hard to just move around on a platform without falling off the edge. I think Unleashed has some similar gameplay elements, but it's heavily refined. In the demo of StH I always felt like I was fighting the game itself just to play it, but I never felt that way about Unleashed. It also seemed to lack the polish that Unleashed has.

In the end, I'd say if you liked the demo of Unleashed, and wouldn't mind more difficult levels... and can get past (or even enjoy) the Werehog, $15 is a steal. If you're still unsure, look up some gameplay videos on youtube of the later Sonic levels, or any of the Werehog stages. Here's a video of one of the harder levels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDbwDTMEm2c
as interesting as this sounds, I dont think it would work for really high priced items like TVs idont know i could try it?
If I had the cash at the moment, I'd try it myself on that Sony Bravia that I saw the other night at the one local Target, since I think it was only 15% off of retail at the $350 price.

But I'll definitely try this if any of the clearance games last till next week at my closest store, though the employee who told me about this 'trick' also said his store waits a day to put stuff back out once it's been returned.

That's probably what happened with the copy of Silent Hill Homecoming I bought from an out of state Target and returned locally. Now I know WHY it never made it back there, since it was $30 when I bought it and that was 15 or so percent off only, so it must've bumped up to 50% off and some employee bought it.

wow big surprise last night...
Returned a couple 360 clearance games did not want.
Sauntered back to the game endcap not expecting anything...
A few copies of Peggle (this store and the other nearby had no copies hit clearance)...
no price sticker and scanned $0
Really nice gal at Customer service was stumped...call electronics..cool young man came over...said if it was at $0, they were "begging" someone to please buy it...so ring it 95% off...ended up with 90% off..and I am not complaining...
whew had this in my Amazon cart for DOTD but failed to pull the trigger...
lucky me, and yes this was a Very isolated incident...
now in a few weeks if only PS3 Dead Space, Pikmin, & Madworld will appear! lol...

Same thing happened to me as far as the game not being in the system, but it had a price tag of $4.98, so they said that that was the lowest they'd go.

Thanks tripleoptic and Viper45. I think I'm definitely give the game a try when the price drops. I just like Sonic in general, so another game with him would be nice and since platforming and side-scrollers are my favorite genres, I'm always happy to add another one to my collection.

I just got back from my Target and was once again disappointed. Two of the games I scanned (Motorstorm :ps3: and Peggle :ds: ) show up on the scanner as being available. So I head over to the games and check, can't find them. So, I find a very nice lady working electronics and ask her if they have either game in stock, she checks and says they are both sold out and they won't be getting any more of either game. So I decide that those two games are out, neither one were really games I have to have, but for the price I'm more than happy to get them, so it wasn't too hard to deal with.

So I checked around in the electronics to try and find the isle that keeps scanning for several of the games and the isle doesn't exist, but I did manage to find some more clearance games on the other end of the electronics (and just now realized I forgot to check in the movies again to see if they have anything there) they had a lot of games, mostly games in the $10.98 and $13.98 price range and a lot of PS2 games, but nothing of interest.

So I went back to the normal clearance section, find a copy of Sonic Unleashed and grab a couple other games to see what they are pricing. Everything comes up with the price they are marked, most of which is a drop behind. Sonic is still at $20.98, since my overall backlog is so large, I'm going to take the chance and wait for it to drop some more. What is really frustrating is that most of the games that I see are pricing the same as everyone else is finding, except for the games I'm most interested in. The games I actually want to get are at least one drop behind.

Obviously this was not a good trip and I didn't manage to get any of the games I wanted. Since I was there I decided to scan the games just to see if any drops were down the regular isles and I see something that I found especially interesting. While this store can't seem to keep up with the main pricedrops, they oddly enough decided to update the price sticker for Marble Saga (whatever it is) :wii: to $7.48. Now, I've been looking for this game for a while, it was the first game I started looking for when I became a CAG. At that time they had the price tag in front of where the game is listed at $20.48 (or around there) When I went back the second time for the game I asked someone about it and at that time they confirmed the game was gone (despite the scanner for me saying it was there) and they weren't getting anymore. Now, I go back over a month later, the game hasn't been there since and they still have not removed the tag for the game, but actually decided to update the price.

So once again, another disappointing trip to Target. And believe it or not, couldn't get my Ultra Violet again. This time, however, they didn't even have bottles. I have had about as much luck getting pop around here as game deals. Every time I go it seems like the pop I want is sold out.

Would it be considered crazy to fly home to Ohio from Florida to look for games and pop

Saw DS Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of TIme for 9.xx
Picked up wii madworld 14.98 and ps3 motorstorm 7.48. Stopped at 2 targets this week and were games were usually at endcaps all clearance games were back in the cases.neither store are in bad areas either anf these are the same games I saw a couple weeks ago on the end caps at higher price. Wonder if Targets changing it's policy here in CT.

Target in Olathe, KS actually had some PS3 clearance for a change. Here is what they had:

PS3:
Bionic Commando - 41.xx
Chronicles of Riddick - 27.xx
Rainbow 6 - Vegas - 14.xx
Resistance - Fall of Man - 20.xx
Socom w/ Headset - 40.xx

Wii:
Mad World 20.xx

I know they had a few more but my memory sucks and I was in a bit of hurry.

For the people that are looking to pick up Socom: Confrontation. There will be a patch on tuesday that will fix some of the annoying bugs and such. So hopefully it will play much better. check out playstation blog or socom.com for patch details.

yeah I had pretty much written it off after reviews like:

if that patch does what it says it will there might be some promise

The Mountain Dew isn't on clearance.

The $2.75 is a YMMV sale price.

Honestly, when I rented the game shortly after release, there didn't seem to be THAT much wrong. It froze up on me once in the 7-days I played. Guitar Hero: World Tour on PS3 has frozen up more.

(SOCOM dropped to 29.98 at my store. I'm tempted to return-rebuy, but...maybe after one more drop haha)

And is Sonic Unleashed a new drop or an older one just re-surfacing?

Yikes. I had no idea it was so terrible. Too bad I've already opened the box. Oh well, I have a habit of misplacing headsets so another backup will come in handy, no doubt.

If you are willing to try the Target in South Philly, you can find some of the PS3 games mentioned. I was there last night and saw copies of Ghost Recon 2 ($20.xx), X-Blade $(25.xx) and Monsters Versus Aliens (didn't check the price). I think there might have been a copy or 2 left of Socom with headset at $42.xx, but I was just doing a quick stop.
