This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

I live in SoCal too and most of the cheap games I have found were the ones that were marked with a small discount, but scanned for significantly lower. Like Left 4 Dead was marked $34.98 and came up $12.48 and FF:CC Echoes of Time marked $27.98, but rang up $9.98. Things like that. The worst part is that I usually see TONS of copies of those kind of games, but don't know that they're marked incorrectly. When I find that out, they're usually almost all gone, but miraculously, have one or two left.

Picked up Dead Space for ps3 for 14.98, but saw that someone got it for 7.48, what store was that? Going to hold and return if I can find it cheaper, if not might just return it anyway.

Under ten would be excellent, and they did not mention where? Got a clue on what of one of these 247 pages?

Decisions, decisions. Do I return the copy of LOTR: Conquest that I picked up from a further away Target and hope my local store had it for 75% off or do I keep it for $20.98?

:whistle2:k:whistle2:k:whistle2:k

I'm thinking return and forget about it until it's much cheaper and I can get it used for $5-7.

I got it for $9.98 at Target two months ago, so I'm surprised they're still charging that much for it. Honestly, I'd have been pretty unhappy if I'd paid any more than I did for it. The game play gets pretty repetitive and relies too much on quicktime events, it lags when there are a lot of enemies on the screen, and the "announcer" voice is one of the most annoying things I've ever encountered in a game. I haven't tried the multiplayer, so it might be better (but I'm not counting on it). But overall, I'd say return it.

My local target FAILS.

All clearance games are 20.00+ some are 40.00 (wrestlemania legends). On top of all that , i know for a fact that 2 employees snatch up all deals as soon as they come across. I have never been one to hide merchandise, but I feel like I have to so I can have a fighting chance!

Actually, Prototype suffers from some of those problems as well(lag, being repetitive), but I enjoyed it ALOT.

Thing is, that game also tends to ramp up the difficulty in the much later end of the game levels that I was like 'wtf am I playing the same game?'.

As for them charging more for games around here, they seem to be woefully slow when dropping stuff. The excuse I've been given every damn time I ask 'why the hell are your prices different from X or Y store in Z town down the line' is that 'we're in a different district'.

I'm definitely going to return LOTR: Conquest though, since I have too many games as yet unplayed already. It's too bad I didn't realize this game qualified for the $5 sale @ HWV when I found a lone used copy for PS3 just after I found out about the sale, since I'd definitely keep it for $5.
She said usually they drop prices on Electronics on Mondays. But I have seen that same store drop prices on a Friday. So go at the beginning or the end of the week.
i can sorta confirm this

i work in the back and our price change schedule on sunday nights includes electronics and entertainment

which is why all the new clearance games appear on mondays

not sure if its different for other stores

another nice thing about working in the back is sometimes you may find unexpected clearance floating around

like an asus ee pc 900 for 74.98 =)

There's a game at my local target which I suspect is mismarked. It has a tag of 24.95, but i think that the actual price is 7.48. When I scan it, the price isn't found. If I remove the tag, what will it ring up as?

Is this unethical?

unethical!!! I don't think so, they won't sell it to you for 0.00, but they will either figure out the last known price, or if you sweet talk them, enter the price you say. Replacing the tag with another crosses the line, but removing the tag just resets the price to whatever "They" say it should be. If you leave the tag on however they will enter that price.
There's a game at my local target which I suspect is mismarked. It has a tag of 24.95, but i think that the actual price is 7.48. When I scan it, the price isn't found. If I remove the tag, what will it ring up as?

Is this unethical?
Just have someone with a hand scanner double check the price, let them know you heard it was cheaper or somethng and it is ringing out of system in the self scan. You could even go to customer service and have them check too I believe.

If the price doesn't rind up they will check the system to see what the last price was regardless of the sticker tag (at least at my target) so you don't have to do all that.

I found a Fable II Collector's Edition in the clearance section with a tag of $49+ and it didn't scan with a price. They checked in the system and sold it to me for $17+

They didn't say they were going to replace the tag with another one though. I ended up removing the clearance stickers from the copies of the games I returned to a much further away Target about 2-3 weeks ago before even going into the store.

Then, even before going to the return desk, I stopped at a price scanner and checked the prices and the only one to be lower was FEAR 2.

I still returned all three, but rebought FEAR 2 when it was coming back to electronics in a cart full of returns from that department. It had a nice shiny new 50% off sticker marked $12.48 on it.:D

I personally wouldn't say it's unethical, as long as you're only using it to force them to look it up in the system rather than just quoting back what's on the tag, and not attempting to defraud them in some way. Just be ready to accept or decline whatever they quote to you when they look it up, and don't try to argue for something that's not in their system (as that would put you on more questionable ground).

That being said, keep in mind that they might take a different view on the matter, and if you're seen doing it by an employee or on a security camera, you might be in for some trouble. In some states, I believe that removing a price tag before you've purchased an item may even be illegal (couldn't tell you which states right off, though). So it's definitely an "at your own risk" sort of thing.
I saw the Guitar Hero World Tour Guitar Bundle for $22.48. I know it was this price for PS3 and 360.
I'm torn on this one. I'd like to get World Tour, and this is the cheapest that I've seen it for the 360, but I so don't need any more plastic instruments sitting around. I wish they were clearancing the game-only version as well, but I've only seen that for the PS2 version (which was $7.48 when I saw it yesterday, but I don't have PS2 instruments).

They had GHWT game only for the PS3 on clearance for a while now so they might all be gone already.

Yeah, I'm looking for the 360 version since that's what all of my instruments are for, and for some reason the game-only version of that is still on the shelf at $59.99 here. Oh well, I'm sure it'll turn up cheap eventually, if not at Target then somewhere else.

Trade the instruments in to Gamestop or Gamecrazy if they take them? Knocks a few extra bucks off of the game's price and no extra plastic clutter.

For the people that saw the GHWT on XBOX 360 for 22.98, are any of you in the Bay Area? My local store still has a ton of them at 45. I'd drive a bit to get it for 22.98.

Picked up Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce PSP for $9.98

I saw both the GHWT guitar bundle and the GHWT twin Les Paul guitars bundle for $44.98 each. What's the difference between them?

Man, you are lucky! I've been trying to find the NPC games at Target on clearance since it was first posted and have never found them on sale. All the stores I have checked still have it at $29.99 and the store closest to me sells a couple here and there, so I'm figuring by the time they would drop the price I won't be able to get a copy.

I've never played Pikmin, so I'd love to give it a try and for $7.48 you can't beat it. I'm not so sure about Donkey Kong, but for $7.48 to $14.98 it is worth grabbing in case.

May head over to Target tonight and search for the NPC games and Peggle, but I'm pretty sure I will walk out empty handed

I figure it's a wash between big city and small town bargain hunting. In the big city, you've got more people (i.e. more bargain-hunting competition and hoarders), and a higher cost of living that skews perspective on what constitutes a bargain (so people buy too early in the clearance period). But you've also got more stores and more stock (for example, I have 6 Target stores within reasonable distance of me). I can still usually find 3 out of every 4 titles I want at around the $15-20 price range; I just need to be diligent and grab them the first day or two they hit those price points.

i can confirm the ps3 fallout clearance at $42. but i dont think its worth. if you waited this long, you might as well wait for the Fallout GOTY edition with all 5 dlc packs. they're trying to sell each dlc pack for $10. so 5 x $10 = $50 for dlc alone.

Yep. Waiting on the GOTY. A great value.. but I hate these damn GOTY games. Always makes me first purchase of the non-GOTY seem like utter shit especially since the GOTY are always cheaper than the actual price I paid for. Never making that mistake again and waiting on Fallout 3 GOTY.

Just went to the Targets on Millitary Highway in Chesapeake VA.

I got Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for Xbox 360 for only 7.49 (Not a bad deal, and they had like 10+ more 360 copies, No PS3 though)

They also had...
Guitar Hero World Tour Bundles for 44.98 (One guitar i think)
Wheel Man for 360 for 19.98
Warhawk, Advanced Warfighter 2, and Rainbow Six Vegas for 13.98
Rock Band 2 for 24.98 (360 only)
And a few other games i didnt check, and for some reason they arent dropping the prices, everything has been the same for 2 weeks (Except for Force Unleashed, which wasnt there last week)

Target in Akron, OH had >10 copies for $42 as well. Might be worth it for someone if they drop down to ~$20.

One of them has the GHWT guitar, the other has two wireless Les Paul guitars. I vastly prefer the Les Paul, but the GHWT guitar has the (I think) touch/slide neck for linking solo parts.
Saw about 20 Shaun White Snowboarding at the Cerritos, CA Target. Also saw 3 copies of Dead Space for $14.xx. Worth a pick up at $15?
I got it for $60 and it was way worth it .

West Farms, CT Target had Riddick: Dark Athena for $20 PS3, Dead Space $15 PS3, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand for $35, and Socom w/Bluetooth headphone bundle for $30.

Lucky!

I've been slinking around my local targets looking for these exact titles to no avail. I hope you enjoy them!
Anyone happen to see GRAW 2 for cheap in the Santa Clara area? Thanks.
I'm going home to Sunnyvale in about two weeks. Maybe we can help each other out then. :)

I would love Motorstorm PR for 15, but its all gone from the local targets. Dead Space dropped to 15 and Socom bundle is down to 30. I may bite on Socom.
