(Part I) The Target clearance thread

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

I saw a lone copy of that for the xbox 360 at the target in pasadena it was for 14.98 i believe.

Found Final Fantasy CC Echoes of Time for $9.98 at Target A and the SOCOM bundle for $14.98 at Target B. All 3 Targets I check still don't have Dead Space on clearance. Still rings up $29.99. Yes I checked the PS3 copies.

Well I have seen my arch nemesis(s) at Target, and know why every good clearance game is gone at the below 25$ price. 3 guys in the twenty something age bracket with inventory guns working at target in the Toy/Electronics department. This in conjunction with low inventory my target keeps, example for 360 big games name games GOW2 (3 copies), no halo 3, batman maybe 5 copies, dirt 2 didn't count but only a few copies...

Maybe I'm a little late to the party - was 360 PoP clearanced across the board? It looks like most of the Targets in my area have them in stock and I've been looking to get that on the cheap. I've just never seen it on the clearance endcaps.

Yeah, I had gotten it for my birthday (July 4th) for the same price... I'm surprised... The only good deals I've gotten lately were Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce for $10, Peggle DS for like $3, and there's one PS3 copy of Riddick left, which up here, PS3 items don't go too quickly, so I'm hoping it'll stay there or possibly even drop. Not much else worth mentioning, really.

Technically, the bundle at 22.50 is a better deal, but what would I do with a third guitar? Plus, the way these music games go (and how many I already have to play, I can probably wait until KMart or Sears clearance it and get it for $5ish eventually.

Far Cry 2 360, Ratchet and Clank, Motorstorm, and Uncharted have all done this in the last several months (ie: get clearanced out and then return as a budget game). They usually get marked back to their correct budget price (usually $30) pretty quickly so run, don't walk if you want it for $15.

Picked up NBA 2K9 for PS3 today for $20.98 :) but it might have been on clearance because the upper right corner on the front of the case was chipped. Now to get rid of my PS2 copy from Target for $6.98 a month ago...

Actually, isn't the 360 guitar in two pieces like most of the other ones? That would make shipping it less of a hassle if the people wanting it shipped could do without the original packaging.

Even with the original packaging, it could be shipped Parcel Post. It really wouldn't cost all that much. Then again, I haven't shipped anything that big in a while now and the rates HAVE gone up, so I don't really know 100%.

But still, the response you gave was really uncalled for.
 
Honestly, I don't understand the negativity. If someone requests something, and another CAGr is willing to do it, I say good for you. But if you're not willing to do what the other CAGr is asking for, then rather than rain on the parade, just ignore the request and move on. Some folk will do almost anything for a stranger, I wish I was surrounded by those types of folk. Karma does come around.
 
Just got Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason for PC at Target for $15 clearance. It was the last one in the Lanham, MD Target.
Also got Prince of Persia 360 for $15, which is the normal price now.

$14 seems like a good price for a bluetooth headset and Socom. I'd say go for it if you have any left.

If your into this type of game you might be better off buying that gh5 bundle or another similar deal. I'd grab one and ship it but after shipping it is no longer a deal.

I'd guess the cost at about $40 or so to buy/ship this. Not worth it really.

Thanks for the support guys. I have (and would still) done these kinda favors for people on the 'net before and never had an issue. Especially when you're part of a site like this where scamming would be pretty difficult to get away with. I've been on eBay for over six years and never had a single negative feedback. I've shipped things all over the world and paid tons of sellers. There isn't a reason to doubt anyone here until you start acting like a jerk.

At any rate, $40 still wouldn't be bad considering the same bundle is $60 at Gamestop. No big deal if no one can help. I'll probably just pay the $60. Thanks again guys.
 
Yaahoo!!! I just hit the jackpot!

So I spent nearly 2 hours driving around all the Targets in my area last night.(yea, i was bored) Came back with nothing. Not even a 9.xx game.

Just now, I decided to try my luck at a Target next to my work(which I had also visted last night) to see if they have anything new for a Friday. Lo and behold! They had a stack of SEVEN GHWT+1guitar bundle for PS3 labled clearly at 22.48!!! I promptly picked up 2 for the extra guitar. lol!

Yeah online only items get marked 75-85% off sometimes when returned in store. I scored a Juicer for $9 like that.
 
Just got back from Target and returned Monsters vs. Aliens, they couldn't adjust the price since it was clearance and wouldn't do a return and rebuy. No big deal, shouldn't be a problem finding it for much less anyway.

It is a good thing I decided to pick up:

because when I went to pay (oddly enough they took me at the service desk since the lines were long) because I had used my Visa Giftcard to pay for Monsters originally, I told her I wasn't sure if they could have money put back on them, but she said it went through. So, I went to pay for the game and she keeps telling me the card is declined (she didn't remember me) and I explained she had just returned the game and put it on the card, showed her the receipt, etc. So, she had to get a manger and redo everything and just gave me a giftcard. Not that big of a deal since it was caught quickly, but I'm glad I didn't find out a couple days from now since it may not have went as smoothly. Don't know if I will keep the game, but it saved me $26, so I'm happy :D


Apparently I'm very easy to forget as well. She didn't remember the return when I went back to the service desk, okay, I was gone for a few minutes. But, then, when she had to wait on a manager she had me go to the kiosk and fill out a survey, so I did it. When I was done I went back to get my stuff and she forgot me again and I told her I needed my game, she had put it in the return cart instead. Normally, it wouldn't have been a good situation, but the people that work at customer service at this Target are always great. We were all laughing by the time I left, so it was funny anyway.

At the Target I work at, we had copies of Final Fantasy PSP remake for $3.49. I grabbed one of them today and with my discount and a couple bucks I had left on a gift card I only paid a buck fifty for it. Nice.
 
Finally found a copy of Madworld hidden under a shelf. I only noticed it because I saw the top of a white case sticking out. I also saw some new drops.

couldnt find any GHWT left
but I did find final fantasy (psp), I scaned the game and it show up as "no longer in the system" (?)
what does the cashier do in this situation?
