This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

I'm noticing more of the stores in my Houston area are getting cleared out, but I did happen to find the Rock Band Country Track Pack (PS3) for $7.49 & Cars: Race-O-Rama (360) for $20.

Likewise..I dont live in Houston but once a week for work purposes Im there and depending on which way Im going, I usually hit a couple of Targets close to opening. The one thats on 290 inbound, sorry dont know specific road names for the most part, use to have luck at that one.

The one on Westheimer close to Fondren always has a decent sized stashed but the quality of the games vary. Last week the only thing of interest was Dead Space at 14.98..it shouldnt last much longer after I saw it.

The one on I10 @ Gessner usually doesnt have much so I dont hit it that often....

Every once in awhile the one in Katy has had stuff...mostly Wii stuff I got for my gf.
 
Saw Champions Online for $12.48 at the River Park Target in Fresno CA.

All of the last tier clearance items are nowhere to be found though (Wolfenstein, Mini Ninjas, Section 8)

I hope the PS3 version of Race-O-Rama hits the clearance shelves soon. My three year old son is bigtime into Cars so I'm sure he'd enjoy it.
 
Stopped by another Target in my area today and got:

The Wii game was an impulse buy, but I can get behind arcade-style hunting games :D
 
The Target in the western hills shopping center (Cincinnati, Oh) has about 20 copies of The Godfather II for 14.99.

I know this might not be the right thread to ask, but as there is no general Target thread, this is likely the most knowledgable group of posters on the topic.

I was wondering if I return an XBox360 to Target, do the serial numbers have to match? I just bought a 360 from Target, but I was told that I'll be receiving a system for the holidays. Can I return the gift 360 to Target?

^^that wasn't necessary!

@GardianE: I don't think you can return the console other than the one purchased. Almost every retailer scans the normal barcode on the box, then prompted to match the serial number. It's almost guaranteed that they will match this up as it is clearly printed on the receipt.

Found :360: Ghostbusters and Mini Ninjas, but the Target employee I went to denied me using the expired coupon for them restating twice that it's not allowed - even it should work fine. :roll: Might just return them.

Nope. Though the reason I have to buy a new 360 is in fact because my launch 360 just RROD'd out of warranty.

And right on cue. It doesn't hurt to ask, and considering the administrative nightmare that many of these large corporations are, there's a strong possibility that they would take the return anyway. So GuardianE, what exactly do you think returning a console with a different serial number is?

The answer IS obvious. It's return fraud. It's actually worse than coupon abusing or flipping. It's actually one of the two things that CAG frowns upon. It's probably the only one that's illegal.

(For the record, I didn't care that it was OT. I very much enjoy OT diversions in these threads. So suck on it.)
 
Sorry for possibly asking a wierd question, but i was curious if someone could post a link to a scanned or atleast normal sized coupon for the Free Xbox 360 1600 point card with Hardware purchase? I keep getting the thing saying i have printed my limit, and the only links i can find are way oversized or cut off.
 
Couple Chicago area stores cleaned out big time. One store had books on the clearence cap red tagged(3 shelves of a kids book, didn't check the title), but I did see a Bad Company 360 stashed in the greatest hits section for 14.98. The other store had a Planet 51 for 24.98 and a Bionic Commando for 29.98, both 360. 1 copy of each. They did however have an entire shelf of Guitar Hero DS, the 2 game bundle, for 41.98. At that price the soccer moms ain't even touching it. A good 25 of them there, and that's the only game left. My cheapness wanted a free 1600pt card anyway, so I was gonna cave and get Sonic Genesis collection for 19.99 but got denied at the register cause it wasn't hardware. Oh well, worked out earlier in the week. Tried finding the most dumb cashier I could find who wouldn't read it, but skewed too dumb and picked the one who couldn't READ it and needed a manager to read it for her, who promptly said I didn't have a system with me, so no.

Picked up Dawn of War II :pc: for $9.98 today at the Fairlawn, OH Target. They had one or two copies left after I grabbed mine.

Also, the Niles, OH(Eastwood Mall) Target completely removed their clearance electronics section. I couldn't find it and asked an employee and he said they got rid of it. :(

Often for space retailer will stuff there opened stock/clearance product into the back room. I use to RTV items for Bed, Bath & Beyond and we would have carts full of stuff back there because they needed all their end caps

Ha! I work at the BB right next to the Target on 290 you're talking about. That's where I found Cars. The one I normally get the better deals is the one near 249 & Louetta.

I never go to the one near Fondren so I may have to check it out. Thanks for the tip!

Seems like it's like this around Christmas every year. Soccer moms and grandmas scoring great deals on cheap games for their kids/grandkids before CAGs. They'll drop $30 on that game and be out the door while we're waiting for that $15 price.
 
A lot of the Targets around even refuse to clearance some titles at all....

Wolverine and Red faction are still full price on the shelf....

Out of curiosity, do most Targets cut their clearance prices weekly? If so, anybody know what day they do?

Well at Gamestop, I saw a lot of these "soccer moms" and "grandmas" buying MW2 at full retail and Wii fit.

And return fraud is perhaps the most contested definition on the entire forum. If it were so obvious, it wouldn't be considered so ambiguous. Regardless, unless a moderator tells me otherwise, I'm completely unapologetic to offending your arbitrary interpretation of the law.

So remind me ... are we going to see new drops tomorrow or Tuesday? I know it can vary ... but I'm curious and want to hit a couple Targets bright and early on clearance day

It depends on the target....

Usually they will have it done by lunch on Monday.....
 
I was told by an electronics employee at the Chapel Hill, OH store that they update their clearance prices on Mondays. It is all YMMV on which store does what though. Some do it Tuesday, some Monday, some Thursday.
