This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

im confused...u bought 2 tv's (from store A and B)and the 450 tv(from store B) tv u returned to the store where u got it for 225 (store A) and got back the difference???...then return back the 450 tv back to the store????

There are two Targets, A and B.

A has it for 450 and in stock.

B has none in stock, but their scanner showed 225.

He went to A, bought it, drove to B, and did a return/rebuy there to get it at the lower price.

Not to deride his accomplishment, but that's still a YMMV thing. Strictly speaking, Target employees aren't supposed to do this, since it's essentially price matching a clearance between stores. Technically they are supposed to accept the item in question, refund the money, and then put it back on the floor to be sold again. Yes, it will be at the lower price at that time, but that doesn't mean the person who returned it can instantly buy it again. But sometimes you just get nice employees who know their customers could always stand to get a better deal, and sometimes you get assholes who tell you to piss off.

It's always worth a shot, and good luck to all those who attempt it.

I was lucky. I had the same person at guest services who had called on my behalf Friday night to try to get the other store to lower it to 225. Honestly-- the best customer service I have received in a long time.

Aye sometimes you get a clerk that knows you should be right about it. But since policy says different and they deal with enough crap, they will be stoic and not budge. Gladly most the staff employed in the electronics area knows whats up, and are more willing to give some leeway to the customer.
Then there is Best Buy, where everyone seems bitter.

When I was at Target last night all the stuff they had on clearance was the same price. I.e. Bigs 2 $19.98, G-Force :360, $24.98, Hannah Montana $19.98 and several others.

However, I did notice quite a few games with clearance stickers still in the display, which my store rarely does. I can't remember all of them, but I believe Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs $14.98 (this one I can't remember for sure if it was on sale, but I know one more recent game was marked and I'm 98% sure it was Cloudy...) Grand Theft Auto $24.98, Little Ninjas and $34.98 and several more, but that was what I remember off the top of my head.

My store really restocked the Wii games for the Buy 2 Get 1 sale, they had about 25% of the case empty and what was there had little left. Now, they have all the areas filled and a lot of them have a lot of copies, so hopefully some of those will drop soon too

Oh, and on a side note, they actually put a game over in the clearance. It was a hockey game and was way too high, but at least there was a PS3 game over there, first time in about a month I believe.

Target in Oro Valley, AZ had a few games of interest... "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" (Xbox 360) for $29.xx, and "Ghostbusters" (Xbox 360)/ "Section 8" (Xbox 360) for $41.xx

I picked up 1 copy of Wolverine, but there will like 6 left, along with about 10 copies of "Ghostbusters", and 3-4 copies of "Section 8".

damn... and ah! ghostbusters on the clearance list! i knew i should of held off picking it up for 20 at gamecrazy just a couple weeks ago! haha rats... but its okay they always get cheaper over time anyway so i should of known better

cool to see fallout 3 on there but once again im not sure how worth it is even at 75% with the GOTY out and all the dlc for that

i also forgot to mention i've seen Wolverine drop to $29 or so (50%).. waiting for the 75% on that and fable 2

I used to think that was happening at my store--- games would drop to $41 then disappear. Then I found out that someone was there every Monday when they opened (this is when drops could occur on Thursdays) and drops were shifted ONLY to Mondays. It turns out that the person was getting there when they dropped and picking everything up.

I imagine your area may have something similar.

I printed out a UPC for the Vizio TV and scanned it at the machine in the aisle but it says the item is not found. Then I had a clerk scan it with her scan gun and she said it was $450 (clearance price is $225, retail is $550).

Does that mean that the item exists but it still hasn't made the full drop? Or does it mean the item isn't in that store since the scanner in the aisle couldn't locate it?

Essentially yes. The item is on clearance, but it's not made the second drop yet. $450 is the first clearance price. If a store sells out of something on clearance the item will never drop in their system, as I understand it. I've found a lot of items end up not being in the aisle scanner - usually when that store has clearanced out an item and it's been sold out.

Same thing in my area of Socal. I have yet to see BS/PL on clearance. It might have been one of those YMMV clearances (like Pikmin NPC).

I ing hate idiots who buy up games at $41 clearance. You must be retarded to think that is a clearance price. Last week there were still a few copies of GH Metallica. According to one of the employees I spoke to, someone came in and actually bought a copy at that price. There were just a couple GH Metallica left so I picked one up at $29 before they run out. If that last copy is still there in a week or two when they drop the price further, then I'll return my copy and purchase it at a lower price. In the meantime I'm forced to not play the game in the hopes that I might be able to find it or get it for the cheaper clearance prices. I'm really worried with the holiday season/BF that those copies will probably be bought up. ugghh.... it really sucks for games to go on clearance around this time of year. Also, I also saw a couple Wolfenstein 360 on clearance at the reported $41. That was quick. I hope that it manages to make it through the holiday season/BF and to drop further down in clearance price so I can pick one up somewhere around the $10-20 mark since I'm definitely not buying it at $30 like GH Metallica. I also saw the Red Faction drop that has been reported at $27. It might be time just to purchase a copy since there were only 2 left and I rented and loved the game.
