This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Please please please have this in Memphis.

Picked up Wolverine:360: at the Target in Estero, Fl for $14.98 today. I've been waiting for the price to drop from $29.98 on that for almost 2 and a half weeks.

i used a upc code from half.com for fallout 3 360, and checked the scanner it came up as 13.XX, to bad theres was only one copy, i would of got 2 with the $10 off coupon

Buy something else then return it. They split the coupon in half with 5 on each item. You'll get 5 off the game you want. I did it just fine.

There's a way to enter a UPC code on those scanners they have mounted on the wall? I thought you can only just scan them.

Take the return fraud to another site...not here...
back to SD/FW with you ...
sad sad post for a newbie/trainee to make

donut, i'm completely against return fraud. What agent orange is talking about is NOT return fraud.

Target just assigns a "return" value that splits the coupon in half.

So if you by a game for $20 and another for $30 and you use the coupon, if you were to return either game, you get $15 or $25 bucks back depending on the game. This actually protects Target from return fraud.

I actually did this today with a game that I hastily thought I would like but then decided to not keep it but I want the other game. I looked at the receipt and it said "refund value $8.98" for each game after buying them both for $13.98 and using the $10 off coupon. Returned it today with no problems at all.

This. Believe it or not, Target is one of the few retailers who takes these steps to ensure things such as fraud don't happen.

Actually, I believe the refund is dependent on percentage. In your case, the $20 game is 40% of the total price of the two games, so you get 40% of the $10 discount = $4 off. Therefore, the return value of the $20 game is $16. Similarly, the return value of the $30 game is $24. I hope this makes sense.

You need to calm down. This isn't even close to return fraud. This is no different then when they do a B2G1 free and charge you $40 for each of the three $60 games. Target splits a package deal discount among ALL the items to protect themselves. It typically says right on the reciept what the return value of EACH individual game is.

Seriously. Dude. Relax.

I think donut might have misunderstood what was going/what the CAG did, in donut's defense. I actually did the same thing after finding out that GC would have red faction guerrilla (sp) for cheaper price than Target had on clearance, even with the coupon. Ended up just returning it and saving roughly $5 by buying it at GC.

Crap if I knew I could have returned one of the games legit I would have jumped on the game I wanted and returned the other. Too late now.

I would have used the $10 coupon when I picked up Dead Space last week had I thought their return policy. Not fraud at all. I returned one of the Arcade cards when they ran the B1G1 a while back. Reciept assigns a return value to each item, so that says to me (and to customer service) that each item is returnable under their policy.

If I find Wolverine Origins for $14.98, I will NOT buy any new releases coming out this week. That is the deal, and hoping that fate will intervene and let this happen b/c I've waited a month for that wolvie to drop!!

lmao...hypocrite through and through...
I would think you would be writing to Target immediately, perhaps in their forums...oh, maybe this isn't a stock you hold like BestBuy....

and splitting hairs about fraud or not, receipt or not...
the ten off is for Two games, buying an extra with the intent to return is not remotely what Target intended...if so, it would just be $5 off one game...
my issue was, if it works, it works...but no need to highlight and encourage others... abuse may motivate Target to change or pull it....and no one wants that...!

Wii Virtual Tennis 2009 207260396 $9.98
Wii Dawn of .... 207260390 $12.48

PS3 Up 207240236 $9.98

confoosious...confused...
fraud (def. act of cheating), intent...again splitting hairs... it is a fraudulent (def. deceptive) act to buy the second game with the intent of returning it to return and retain the $5 off the other game

I could care less about the ridicule or that you tried to be nice (that's your issue) but object to someone posting and encouraging another member to go back and buy an additional game to return.

You know, I tried to be nice. But you are a goddamned idiot.

If you have the receipt and you bought it there, IT'S NOT RETURN FRAUD.

Haven't you been ridiculed enough in one thread?

Maybe it's time to get off your high horse. Maybe pull that stick out of your ass. I know you secretly want to be a mod, but they realize you're a moron as well.

(oh, fyi, the expression is "couldn't care less." could not.)

Where is the $10 coupon you sly devils keep talking about?

Why is that every thread has to turn into a flame war? Everyone just shut up and go back to talking about Target deals.

Let the mods decide what is considered fraud and what isnt.

I agree with everything this guy here says. It's not return fraud and that guy complaining about it has no idea what he is talking about.

there is a God! FINALLY!

:360: X-Men Origins - $14.98
:360: The Bigs 2 - $9.98
:360: TC: EndWar - $7.48
:360: GH: Metallica - $14.98

Combine that with some coupons, and you get some pretty nice savings ($5 for 2 EndWars - Stay away El Hordorado's!!)

Actually, I'm inclined to agree with donut. It may not necessarily be as extreme as to use the word "fraud" but I mean if YOU as the consumer are EXPLOITING a loophole in a return policy then that is just as bad.

The promotion is that you buy 2 games in order to get the $10 off. If you purchase games with the explicit intent to circumvent that, you are cheating the promotion.

It doesn't matter that Target assigns a return value to the games (that's the fault of their ignorant marketers). But it does matter if you are the type of person that commences in and condones cheating and exploiting. In which case, donut has every right to call you out on it.

LOL, I got X-Men Origins and Endwar at those prices, and forgot the coupon. I went at lunch and got them again with the coupon. Guess I need to use El Hoardo as my avatar.

I'll return the original later today. I bought them at the Camp Creek Marketplace in GA but will probably return them at Peachtree City.

hahaha!! nah, just being a CAG I guess..
Why, oh why Secret Agent Clank are you never marked down? For over a month now there has been exactly one copy of you left in the store. The official list on this thread says you should be $4.98. But I keep scanning you and you always ring up $19.99. Why? I want to buy you, I do.
One of the ways target does mark downs is by quantity the lower the quantity the slower the mark down. I know this because i worked at target for far to long. It was also told to me by a friend recently that they still have this practice.
Found a stash someone was hiding in the stereo section and I have to say if I wasnt looking at the speaker box I would never have seen this hiding spot. Apparently the person stacked the games against the wall on top of each other so it will look like it was part of the display. Not sure why someone would go far for what they hid tho (Section 9, Wolverine, Bioshock and Fable 2 all 360). I took them out and put them out for everyone too see in case someone was looking to buy any of them.
I agree 100%! That is a priceless story right there.

Just came back from Target and there were no markdowns yet, but most of the clearance games were in a shopping cart near electronics so they might have been about to adjust prices.

Nothing like going to the register with 2 copies of god of war for psp and paying 0 dollars for them. Yup the 10 dollar coupon worked like a charm. Also managed to score 2 copies of bigs 2 and 2 copies of fable 2 all for 16 dollars. So I got 6 games for 16 dollars and flipped to toys r us for 58 dollars. Pretty good day
Not to make this tangent go any further, but the coupons / return values on the receipt are weighted so that the more expensive of the two is actually worth less than you paid for it if you return it depending on how you look at it (i.e. if you imagine the coupon applying evenly to both games)

For example:
Wolfenstein :360: - 29.98
Wolverine :360: - 14.98
- 10 for coupon = 44.96 (before tax)

Refund value of Wolfenstein: 23.31 (paid value is 29.98 - 5 (coupon) = 24.98 + tax)
Refund value of Wolverine: 11.65 (paid value is 14.98 - 5 (coupon) = 9.98 + tax)
Total refund value = 44.96 (before tax)

So you actually lose a little money if you return the more expensive one, and make a little money if you return the less expensive one. When the two games are of equal value the coupon is evenly split.

Not taking a side either way (as I don't care at all), but there's a little more data for folks to mull over if they're concocting a scheme.
Just came back from Target and there were no markdowns yet, but most of the clearance games were in a shopping cart near electronics so they might have been about to adjust prices.
i've been seeing this too, its like they're not working fast enough! Next time, don't let this discourage you, just grab them out of their cart and scan them yourself. Just b/c they haven't physically changed the sticker, doesn't mean they didn't drop for the day.

@handsomepete: what exactly does the refund value entitle you to?? Is it like in case you lose your receipt?? I thought there were no exceptions w/ no receipt...and if not, if you were to return something, why wouldn't you get the full price you paid?

So it's not really much of a deal, but I noticed that Gamestop is having a deal where if you trade in two games from their list you can get halo odst, AC2, L4D2, or one of the other games listed for 20 bucks.

The reason I mention this is because I purchased 2 of The Bigs 2 for 13.xx each, used my employee disc, and the coupon to get them down to 17.21.
So 19.99 +17.21= getting ODST or AC2 etc for about 40 bucks. You also avoid the bfriday mess. Now if you can find two of the 9.xx bigs 2(360) that makes it 10 bucks for the two and 30 bucks altogether.

Sorry for the winded post.
