This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

I got this information from the electronics manager that I see every Monday:

Contrary to popular belief, a lot of clearance items do not hit that magical 75% off price. If this was the case, the stores would be filled with nothing but endcap clearanced items (so if you feel you're getting a good deal on something, you might as well grab it).

At a certain price point, certain clearanced items become considered "salvage" (in the scanner and/or price checker). When this happens, it goes to the back of the stockroom. It is then processed to either go to the "big Target in the sky" (I assume some kind of warehouse) or back to the manufacturer. In certain cases on discontinued items, it goes back to the stockroom and has to go through the whole clearance markdown process all over again. This is why you see 20 copies of something magically disappear or an old clearanced game reappear on the endcaps.

Targets are very YMMV on pricing, however if CAGs in other regions are reporting, lets say "GTAIV at $7.48 or $4.48", it will drop to the price point sometime at your store. Now, you're biggest problem would be if you can wait that long (and if there will be any copies left).

Them selling anything to you which is discontinued/out of the system is YMMV either way (however, they are not suppose to, even at the lowest price point on the sticker). They have no idea why an item was discontinued or OOS (could be a manufacturer's defect, recall, etc) and they could put a consumer's life at risk and the company can get sued (this has happened before).

Bottom Line: Like at other stores be nice to them and they will hook you up.

Wolverine and GH Metallica finally dropped to 14.xx in NW Florida--- i hate being 3-4 weeks off the clearance cycle. Their value on ebay has gone from ~40-45 to ~20-25 in that time period. NBA Live 09 and Fifa 09 were both 13.xx for ps3. Would have been worth it last week with the 10 bucks off, but ehh now.

Found Guitar Hero WT Full Game Band Bundles clearanced for $83. They had 2 PS3 and 1 360 version. Anyone seen these lower? My local Target is usually SLOW on the markdowns.
 
I picked up a couple of PS3 titles last night at the Super Target. NHL 09 for $7.48 and Dirt 2 for $29.99. I have a feeling Dirt 2 will drop again to $15 but I didn't want to risk it. I got the last copy.

Really? Go back to your SD. CAGs often only find clearance games to keep or trade/flip not make huge profit of it off resales. Your behavior hurts the community. But I'm glad you have slower clearance updates therefore you aren't making much off of the nice people on this site.

Yes, the GHWT Band Bundle for PS3 is down to $60 here in IA, they have 2 left and it's tempting but I have all my GH downloads on the 360... :roll:

It's common knowledge that Ebay/Amazon prices for known clearance games tank as people sell them off right away to make a quick buck. And sometimes it is literally a buck...

if anyone wants GH metallica in the reading PA area i'm going to be returning it this saturday (bought it at target for $29.98 but got it at best buy on black friday for $19.99)...so it might be there at $14.98 later this weekend. i'll let you all know which target i return it to once it's done, but it'll probably be 5th street...
 
This isn't related to clearance games, but I found it sad that somebody was actually buying that new Tony Hawk Ride game when I went to Target on Black Friday. $119 for a crap game.
 
This was posted a couple days back but maybe some of you missed it. The $10 off coupon is still working. :shock: I had an extra one on me and decided to give it a go this afternoon and lo and behold it scanned with no issue. The coupon of the year just got better. :applause:

I was at the New Britain Target (I assume that's the one you mean when you say West Hartford) and also Newington like two weeks ago and they didn't have ANYTHING for PS3 below like 40 bucks, was a big let down when I see some of the deals people are finding here at other stores.

Reminds me of me. I do exactly the same thing, but sometimes, I'm glad I did left the game behind. The worse part of it all is that if and when I did change my mind, go back immediately, and don't see it there.

Yeah, technically, though it's right up the street from West Farms and everything, so I consider it West Hartford.

It's gone now, but yeah, the one on the Berlin Turnpike sucks; I don't frequent it enough to find any good deals there, but their stuff takes FOREVER to drop.

I get to check the New Britain one every other day, so I usually can get most of what I want there.

Cool I'm right near the NB Target but I don't get over there as often as I'd like so it's nice to know someone else is checking and posting what they find at my local store!

It was $14.98 at my store last I checked, but my store had 6+ copies and PSP games always sit around for a good long while at my store. I usually wait for $9.98 or $4.98 on PSP games - but of course YMMV.
 
I tried to use it today and the cashier said it expired so I could not use it. I think this should be labled extreme YMMV. If you have a friend of a dumb cashier you are in luck.

I saw Dirt 2 dropped to $30, several $10 skate 2 , and several $30 Wolfensteins.
 
Brutally hard until you get the hang of it.

Getting the hang of it takes quite awhile.

I wish I hadn't paid $30 for it at launch but at clearance prices it might be worth a try.
 
Came across a couple WT bundles for 83 also...anyone think these bundles will be cheaper in the upcoming weeks?
 
Targets around me are all worthless. Only PS3 games around are Harry Potter for $35 and old sports games for $30. I don't have a 360 but games for it are almost as bad price wise, but there are a lot more on clearance such as Ghostbusters for $41, Wolverine for $41. I get frustrated when I get on here everyday and hear about you guys finding games like Skate2 for $10, when at my Targets it is still in the glass case and "on sale" for $40.
 
I was about to get Call of Juarez $14.98 PS3 and MLB 09 The Show $13.98 PSP and used the coupon but when he was ringing up The Show I noticed the packaging was a little ripped. So before I walked away I pulled it open a little in front of him and NO UMD inside! Only reason I checked was I read here some people were getting home to find no game inside. I was almost had!!!

It might be hard since the games that you're getting on clearance might have little value at Gamestop. Also, you can't trade multiple games during the 6 game transaction. I would just get the games and enjoy them.

On a unrelated note, i did pick up GH Metallica for $14.98. It's pretty good.

Yea if the cashier is paying attention then you are SOL with the coupon. If they scan it though it will work. It is definitely worth a shot though since it is still scanning in their system.

It is funny how there were reports in the thread of cashiers denying people from using this coupon prior to the 25th because it was a "copy", which makes no sense considering it is an online coupon. Now the coupon is still working after the expiration date. Crazy how Target is all over the board with this stuff. Oh well, as long as it is benefiting CAGs I'm not too concerned. ;)

They always continue to work after the expiration date, it's just a matter of the cashier not noticing the coupon has expired. You'd think they'd fix the issue at some point. . .

PSP games are actually one of the easier platforms to avoid getting scammed on. The clear case and plastic packaging mean you can easily look through the side to see if these UMD is actually in the case, even if it has somehow worked its way loose off the spindle.

You must live in my area then, since the Targets around here are utterly worthless when it comes to clearance pricing. I rarely see games last on the shelves past 30% off and many of the same clearance games people are finding at their stores haven't even dropped onto the clearance shelves around here.

Not to mention that at least 2 seperate Target stores have a shelf tag for Uncharted for PS3 marked $14.98, which still mocks me, since I've been itching to get a mint/complete copy to replace the nicked/scratched copy I bought locally just to play.

Yea, I'm pretty surprised that this one is still scanning. I do remember previous ones scanning as well. Can't believe they overlooked this again. How hard could it be to fix this in their systems? I mean, this is one of the largest retailers in the U.S.

That said, time to make another Target run... ;)
 
So, who raided the Monroeville Target last night? We had about 8 copies of GH:Metallica and 4 copies of Wolverine around 5pm (I just straightened the clearance endcap). I was going to grab a copy of GH on my break at 6 and they were all gone. And Target's BS policy is that we can't hold games for ourselves, even if we have massive amounts of a given title. The funny thing is, I work in electronics and didn't even see who grabbed them all. Funny enough, they did miss one copy of Wolverine, which is now mine.

I'm looking at you, Glock. ;)

Haha, not me. I never make it out that way. I usually stick to the Cranberry/Gibsonia/Harmar Targets since they are close to where I work, Monroeville is too far of a hike for me.

Ronin317 is usually out that way though, so I'd blame him! :lol:
 
just came back from the target at decatur and 215 in North Las Vegas, picked up ghostbusters xbox 360 for 14.99. They had about 5 more when I left. Also had a copy of wolverine origins x360 for 14.99.

It was me. I drove the 5 or so hours from the northeast corner of the state to Pittsburgh to raid your stores. :razz:
 
The Target at the Bergen Center in Paramus NJ has two WT bundles as wells as a whole bunch of Rock Band 2 games. I think most of the old clearance games dropped, but not by much. Also, for the older clearance games, the price on the games are the prices they ring up for.
