This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

I just got it to work with assasins creed. On my receipt it says that the refund value of it is $6.98. So if I return it, it's basically half off xboxs whihc works for me.

If it works on the cash register, it works. If you don't want the employee looking at the expiration date then just use a marker to cover it up or just tear that part off & have just the barcode intact.

don't they find it weird that you buy something then return it like 2 minutes later? I agree that cutting off the expiration date is wrong, but their defense will just be that they cashier didn't look at it anyway so it wouldn't have mattered lol.

There's nothing left in Target clearance I'm terribly interested in right now so I'm not going through it as much lately. Any guesses what might hit clearance next? My bets are:
- Dead Rising (before February - they seem to always clearance games that have a sequel coming out. seems counter-intuitive.)
- Planet 51
- Tekken 6 and/or Dragon Age and/or Borderlands by mid-year

Standard edition Infamous should hit clearance soon. I heard that it'll be one of the next greatest hits titles.

Unlikely. Sony just dropped the MSRP down to $40. That's still $10 above their GH price pattern. I suspect this one won't clearance until well after the holidays.

Been waiting for them to clearance Halo Wars and Prototype. Halo Wars seems due since its been out for almost a year now.

retuning one item so u can basically get $5 dollars off one game isnt against any unwritten rule, actually its on the target reciept, right under the item purchased/price, it states "return value", for this exact reason, theres no fraud, theres no broken rule, its stated on the reciept to cover target and so u know (that u cant get the full value of the item when returning)

cutting off the expiration date is another story....

You cut off the expiration on the coupon, that's what is bothersome to me.

You guys that have been waiting for Halo Wars and Prototype -- ME TOO. For sure I thought Prototype would be on clearance far beyond now, seeing how it's a single player game -- and single player games normally don't stay at MSRP for very long. The replay value just isn't there, for the most part. But games like Prototype and Batman: Arkham Asylum are breaking the mold.

Hell, I figured Prototype would have been on clearance way before Red Faction: Guerrilla -- RF:G has online replay value, Prototype does not. But eh.. breaking the mold, I guess.

I would not be surprised if Prototype hits clearance shortly after the New Year, though. Maybe late Jan / early Feb.

It's not fraud if the system still accepts it. As far as anyone knows Target extended the coupon date, which seems to be the case.

Prototype isn't all that great a game either. It's fun at first don't get me wrong but the lasting value of the game isn't there. I borrowed it from a friend, got the 1k in it about a week or two later with little playing, and gave it right back.

Not to mention the wide permanent price drops shortly after release should have justified throwing it on clearance sooner than this...

Game has to be on the market 10 months to qualify. Infamous came out in late May, so still about 4 months to go before it even could be a true GH.

I used unaltered coupon yesterday, the employee looked at it, scanned it, and $10 was subtracted.

1. Did I know the coupon expired? Yes
2. Did the employee check the expiration date? No
3. Did the coupon subtract $10 without an override? Yes
4. Will the employee get in big trouble? No
5. Do I feel any guilt? No

If the coupon didn't work, I wasn't going to make a big deal...I was just hoping it would work.

Did someone per chance hide the last copy of Wolfenstein for 360 at the Chapel Hill, OH Target? The computer said they had one, but it wasn't in the case(the lady checked behind all the 360 games) and wasn't on the clearance endcap.

I failed to check the panty section due to having some pride remaining.
