This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Stopped at three Targets, two of them were basically completely wiped of all clearance games, the third had a bunch of Wii stuff, along with two copies of Cars Race O Rama for $19.98. Decided it wasn't worth it. I've got two more stores I can try tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath.

Hahaha, that target scan in the other thread advertises clearanced games. Sigh, they were gone before that scan even was put on CAG.

Exactly. The report button is there for a reason. If you count all of the active threads on this forum, there is NO way for us to police, or "walk through" every single one of them on a daily basis, let alone several times a day.

If there's an issue, report it. Don't just whine about it hoping one of us stumbles upon it.

I got a few point cards today and finally found Mini Ninjas (360) for $12.50.

My Target also somehow got a 360 Wireless Microphone for $20 because it somehow got in their store though it wasn't in their system and made a price for it. :)

The Target I work at was cleared out monday. Even the two copies of Section 8 were gone. I think people are just buying anything they find that's cheap anymore, regardless of what it is. I finally broke down and picked up a copy of RE5 for me and my friend. The rest of my money is going to Steam throughout the next two weeks. =D

Yeah I have a feeling that it will be a little bit here after the holidays until the clearance section is revitalized for everyone.

The coupon is in the electronics section on the second page.
It expires the 26th so act fast. Just went to a target to pick up star wars force unleashed (wanted to pick up assassins creed but they didn't have it). I just brought the microsoft points, game and coupon to the register and they didn't ask any questions. They just scanned it and I was out :bouncy:

when in doubt just go to SD and use the search bar (something CAG should have)

the name is "xbox live points with hardware"
I found the above post in 15 seconds using the "Search this thread," and I'm pretty stupid. So I would say CAG works well.

Uh, you mean other than that big box at the top of the page that says "Click here to search cag, games, prices, and more!"?

the search here is pretty specific, and doesnt leave much room for error. If you dont put pretty much exactly the thread title, you'll end up with squat. For example, I was typing in "target microsoft 1600 points card coupon", and variations of...but came up with nothing closer than the target clearance thread.

Sorry I'm late to the party but Target is giving the 1600pts cards out with game purchases? And they just scan the game the point card and then the coupon, in that order? This seems entirely too good to be true.

It's not always that easy ... but that is how it's done.

The coupon actually states "XBOX Hardware" but some people have had luck in using it with clearance games without the need for an override.

Using the CAG search bar typing in "Target 1600 points" doesn't bring up anything except that one deal that says 1600 points for $15 (or whatever the price was) and games that have the word Target in them..

On SD it searches the WHOLE forum and posts the most recent and relevant unlike the CAG bar because I know that there is a thread that includes these words. As much as I love CAG this whole "search bar war" belongs to SD

Yes, but searching IN the target clearance thread would have given you the link because the other thread is in the graveyard (which I realize you probably didn't know).

Also, simplifying the search can help. For example, I just typed "1600" using the "search this thread" and was able to find the post with the link. A post made within 24 hours of your query, BTW.

That's what I was wondering, about the hardware aspect. That is just vague enough that it should cover anything from controllers, to battery packs to consoles. I am surprised that it works for games but I guess its worth a shot.

Actually if you use hardware, it will REQUIRE an override, with games it does not. Silly I know, but that's how the programmers at Target programmed it. ;)

Some of these stores just seem to be oblivious to it or don't care enough to fix it. Between this and the Best Buy B2G1 glitch, there's been a lot of screw ups lately.

I sort of regret not using this coupon before. I'm headed out to Target to see if they have some good clearance games at lunch and see if I can score one.

I tell you what with the last month of coupons at Target and Best Buy it has been CRAZY!!

- Buy 360 game get 1600 pts free (pretty awesome considering most of us have had plenty of clearance games)
- Buy PS3 Hardware get PS3 Remote free
- Buy ANY Blu-Ray get $5 off (combine that with manufacturers coupons of $3 to $10 more off)
- $1 off 12 pack of Pepsi
- Free Swiss Miss with $1 off

Then Best Buy has had some uber screw ups on coupons lately:

- FairyTale Fights PS3 and 360 FREE (some people got like 20+ copies)
- Saints Row 2 PS3 for $5

Then there was recently a Best Buy Logitech mouse screw-up that yielded you endless $25 mice for $1. ;)

I went back to customer service and was able to have the expired $10 off 2 games reapplied to my purchase that was originally denied by some red shirt dork. Got $10 off Ghostbusters and Mini Ninjas. Also for $5 off the District 9 BluRay, which was great, too.

I can't figure out the deal with the coupon. When I first started using it, it seemed obvious to me that it was misprinted or badly worded, as the coupon obviously applied to both hardware and SOFTware. A pretty simple oversight, right?

Now, a couple of days later, I've found out that you need an override if you stick to the explicit wording on the coupon and combine it with a hardware item (controller, charger, hard drive, etc.). A friend of mine tried to use it with a charge kit and was told it only applies to new consoles, which doesn't make sense-- the season is bursting with insane bundle deals, a $20 points card with a vanilla console purchase is a really lousy incentive. Just look at Walmart, which offers a $50 gift card even if you buy the $199 arcade.

Further, this pal of mine (down in Orlando) was told that controllers, charge kits, etc. were ACCESSORIES, not hardware. Pretty funny, I always thought of stuff like faceplates, game guides, carrying cases, etc. as accessories. Controllers and memory cards and other obvious system devices are hardware, and consoles are... well, consoles.

At any rate, the coupon is nebulous enough that I don't feel like I'm pulling a fast one by combining it with games. There's been a huge amount of buzz about it in bargain hunting communities like here, FW, and SD, and if the chain thought it was a serious liability, they would have cancelled it ages ago, like they did last year with the $10 off $50 toy coupon that actually had no minimum.

Like I noted earlier, this coupon and the $5 off blu-rays coupon has kept me going back to Target again and again and again for a solid month. I used the points coupon again today (found another $7.49 :360: Bad Company) and will probably use it once more if I have time to steal away to another Target store before work tomorrow and can find a game I want to combine it with.

Controllers and memory cards aren't accessories? I've been living a lie all these years.

Can we please just stop all this discussion that has nothing to do with deals? Nobody cares about how you have justified using a coupon that says you get a free points cards for buying Xbox hardware on software. If you really are so convinced that Target wants you to be using the coupon for things other than a console, you wouldn't be giving people tips on how to confuse a cashier into not looking at the wording. This thread is supposed to be about informing people of new clearance items, not repeatedly scamming Target or bragging about how much free stuff you have accumulated.
I suspect Target may have more clearance games coming in or in the back. Should be interesting.
My Target apparently has 15 MW2 Hardened Editions in the backroom but I don't have access to that area of the store. Just checked via the PDA, and the PDA states it's "discontinued" and has an NCF tag. Meaning it could be on clearance.

While I highly doubt that they will be part of this clearance sale thing being advertised, I hope that they put them out sometime soon, 'cause I've been holding out on MW2 and the $39 sale is highly tempting for the standard edition.

Got 3 x 1600 point cards with the coupon. Bought 3 games, but had to dig through a cart of restock items that hadn't made their way back to the shelf.

Missed out on a few titles this time around, but there's always Goozex.
Currently in Southern California on a Disneyland trip. Had time to visit the surrounding Targets. Gathered the following:

:psp: Monster Hunter Freedom Unite $7.48
:ps3: Sonic Unleashed $9.98
:360: Rockband 2 $12.48

Also saw :360: Bionic Commando, Resident Evil 5 for PC and Godfather 2 for :360:, and Buzz Quiz :ps3: for $29.98, $12.48, $14.98 and $29.98 respectively. These were at the Cypress, Seal Beach and the Disneyland location Targets.

Haven't had the time to use the coupons that everyone else used but would've been nice.

I found this post quite amusing, seeing as these are some of the targets I clear out on Monday every week, glad you found some snippits, I've been focused on 360 games all week building up my collection of points cards. I'm on the fence about hitting up two more targets today, I'm actually a little fatigued, the IL2 Sturmovik, actually trades at 19$, so it's a good flip to make the 1600 points card 100% free. I flipped mine this morning at TRU and bought the 50% off Tony Hawk POC, I just couldn't resists 1 more plastic peripheral that was almost free after all my target flips.

I am in the same boat. I didn't even know Target had the hardened editions. I think I am going to risk it and wait to see what happens.

I've been checking one target for a month trying to get a $12.XX Rock Band 2. The previous monday they had six copies $24.XX. I go this Monday afternoon all copies are gone. I think I got horded oh well. Target seems to be doing some odd stuff tho on my travels I pass a few here and there and I've been seeing clearance items scattered or moved.

The RB2 copies used to be out on an end cap then were moved to a case then vanished.

Ugh

That would be awesome to find the hardened edition on clearance

Its not going to go on clearance anytime soon, your store just got a shipment that was ment to be an online item because we don't carry really any special edition games. Basically that means its going to sit there for a while until someone sends it back or tries to push it (which wont happen till weeks after the new year). Also there's no secret stash in the back, trust me ive looked, cause it was my job to fix up the electronics stockroom at my store from the holiday madness. The only chance is if some get mixed in a truck (which by the way are coming nearly daily until a few days after christmas)

went by today, only a few games left, tried the 1600 pt coupon but wouldn't work, they have caught on, said you had to buy a system to get it, I told them to keep it then.

So is Target bringing out clearance games out everyday since the Trucks are coming in daily, or is what's left of the clearance game is it?
so coupon is dead for the 1600 MS points?
Coupon is NOT dead until 12/24. Stacking it with a non-hardware is YMMV and this is probably what was meant by the cashier refusing to scan it for the above poster's transaction.

And we all know what happens at one target, happens EXACTLY the same way at the others.......
only game I've been seeing worth a damn is :360: Bionic Commando for $29.98 so it's not really worth using the coupon with.
don't think of it that why, just buy a game that you want to play and the pts coupon that expires after tomorrow is an added bonus. I have the vision camera now so I can send my friend's the finger online as a video message.

Just get a $19.99 game to play, you still win if you get the points.

Well the way it works at target is basically when corporate decides its not going to buy anymore of a product and no longer stock it, you put your stock on clearance (this is why/how games at target hit clearance faster then GS or other places because target doesnt really have room to stock many new games so once it stops being worthwhile to stock it it hits clearance or if it was a top game itll go on that endcap at like $30, also the way the item sells dictates how fast the item drops on clearance. No one buys itll hit final clearance in 2 weeks, if everyone buys it can take as long as 3 months -seasonal stuff not included in that rule-). Now sometimes randomly you can get a few games later on that were just left over in a warehouse somewhere or something but its not usual. And yea basically all targets are broken into small groups, thats why you'll see how some targets even have the same layout. Since there actually advertising their clearance games... I dont know if there specifically getting more or something because they dont tell us whats on the trucks until they get to the store but so far I seen my store randomly generate a Ghostbusters, a Section 8 and 2 Ironman games that we clearly didnt have before.

Over two days, went to 4 Targets and found nothing worth buying, including 3 stores that were completely wiped out of all clearance games, but at the 5th and final store, I found two copies of Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 tagged at $20.98, but scanning at $7.48. Two seperate transactions, and now I have 3200 points, too. Thanks to everyone who contributed the information necessary. I only printed two copies, so I am done hunting. Merry Christmas, Target shoppers...
