So, they gave the "odd couple" the tag belts AGAIN?

Nobody ever goes by Jim Cornette's 7-year maxim any validity, but it's fuckin truth, yo.
The whole "I hate you but we're tag champs, so let's work together. Oh wait I'm not going to tag you in" story line is so stale and boring that it fits in perfectly with everything else WWE is doing.

Remember the whole " I love you and we're tag champs so lets work together. Oh wait I'm going to tag you in when I am crawling across the ring and you are hopping on the ropes " thing that used to work? I wish that could come back.

The 6 Man tag in general is overdone. You can guarantee a 6 man tag on RAW 3 times out of the month.

Once again, after watching Raw, I'll be extremely pissed if Jericho isn't put right into a title program right after they finish off this HBK feud.

I'd second that, but mainly I'd just second him being put back in some sort of pants, the underpants look just doesn't work for him.

Is anyone else just watchingECW for the Dirt Sheet?

EDIT: Grisham just called Chavo "Eddie."

It is one of my favorite parts of present WWE (aside from Santino, of course). I cannot believe they kept it as a WWE.com exclusive for so long.

I just finished watching Raw last night, my thoughts

- I ended up liking Adamle too. Seems odd, they almost had him as a "face" GM. The setup where everyone makes mistakes, and he wants to grow from them. Seems odd though that he'd do that, and then send Cole out the week before to get slaughtered. My only fear is, there has been only one face gm that worked for any length of time for me, and that was Teddy Long. Foley wasn't horrible, but got annoying over time. I hope Adamle has a heel streak in him from time to time.

- Dissapointed there wasn't more Santino/Beth, but every storyline can't be prominent every week. It got a mention, so it was fine (Santino is also halarious, wanting to be woman's champion).

- Is there even a tag division anymore? It's funny, for the first time, I actually cared about Dibiase and Rhodes. At times in the match, they looked like they actually belonged with Cena and Batista. They could have gotten a clean win if Batista walked out, it would give Batista some heel heat (though, the anti-Cena crowd would love him, and he's already a bit of a bitch for whining about Michaels retiring Flair for so many weeks). This would have set up the proper heat for their match, made Batista the de facto heel in the match, gave Dibiase/Rhodes a great rub. Everyone wins, so obviously, no one does that.

Now there is no tag division at all, the tag champs are going to explode.

But, there is one way I think you can fix this, and make you care about the tag championships.

Right now, you have 2 guys on Raw that conceivably could be in the title pitcher, but aren't (Jehricho and Kane). Both have interesting subplots going on with their characters. You need a tag division.

So, for either Kane or Jehricho to get a title shot, they must work together, and become tag team champions. If they don't, they both falter.

Week 1, they go up against a week team of 2 people, and crush them, but have them don't get along. Week 2, same things (this time, the other one gets the pin).

Week 3, have them go up against a somewhat established team (Jesse & Festus maybe), and lose when they can't work togehter. Eventually, get on the same page, and roll to the championships.

Not only does this give them a storyline to work with, it'll make people care about a lesser title, the team maybe an odd couple, but they won't turn on each other for mutual benefit, and it gives them a slow build to a title shot, helping by default to give a rub that the championship is truely the ultimate prize.

Just ordered my tickets for Unforgiven. Row 10 lower bowl, a bit angled off hard camera side. I've got a bit of a bad feeling about the thing being only 3 weeks after Summerslam, but hopefully we'll get some good continuation/blowoff from the event. First PPV here in almost 5 years and the first I'll get to go to, so I figured why not.

The Dirt Sheet didn't do much for me aside from Miz and Morrison's fantastic intros for themselves - the rest of ECW ruled, except for that Braden Walker match. Striker was awesome on commentary, putting over the talent (especially Evan Bourne), the reasoning behind some in-ring techniques, and the dude mentioned Brad Rheingans!

Striker (and others) quotes -
Grisham - Bam Neely, the hired bodyguard of Chavo Guerrero.
Striker - Chavo Guerrrerroo…
Grisham - Gotta roll the Rs.
Striker - Yes, it’s proper.
Grisham - Evan Bourne has mad ups, as they say.
Striker - Is that what the kids say today?
Striker - Ricky Ortiz is charismatic, but he needs a haircut.
Grisham - Bam Neely, a former border control agent…
Striker - There’s a joke there, but I’ll let it go.
Grisham - Please do. He’s from Minnesota - perhaps he worked the Canadian border.
Striker - Neely‘s from Minnesota, like Brad Reighnans and the Road Warriors.
Grisham - There’s Evan, who was airborne!
Striker - Here’s a fun fact from your teacher - Ricky Ortiz is the only WWE wrestler to play in the XFL.
Grisham - I did not know that.
Striker - Chavo uses everything available to him - I noted that Ortiz needed a haircut, and Chavo grabbed a handful of it. All’s fair in love, war, and ECW.
(on Bourne)Striker - Coming from someone who wrestled him and lost to him - I can’t help but respect him.
Knox - I’m not here to explain to any of you why I did what I did. I’m here to expose the fraud THAT IS FINLAY! (clip airs of “Romance” ad from Summerslam) It’s okay to laugh - IT’S APPROPRIATE! HE USED TO FIGHT EVERYONE IN THIS COUNTRY AND EVERY OTHER, AND NOW HE JUST DANCES WITH A LEPRECHAUN!
Grisham - In case you’re wondering, it’s Hornswoggle on the right of your screen and Finlay on the left.
Striker - Yes, I’m able to tell the difference between the two.
Finlay - That was a funny clip, but you know all the things you’ve heard about me - they’re just the tip of the iceberg, Fred.
Knox - MY NAME’S MIKE!
Finlay - I don’t care if your name’s Mike, Fred, or Rufus!
Striker - Rufus?
Finlay - TAKE YOUR SHOT! But you better knock me out, because if you don’t, you’ll find out if I’ve gone soft or not!
Fan - HIT HIM WITH YOUR PURSE, KNOX!
Grisham - Matt, you’re a skilled wrestler.
Striker - Thank you.
Grisham - A trained boxer.
Striker - Keep going…
Striker - The betrayal of Delaney on Dreamer was almost Zbysko-Sammartino esque tonight.
Striker - Estrada was on his way to the unemployment line until that JUDAS Colin Delaney cost Dreamer the win.
Striker - James Curtis, trained by Savio Vega, looking to get his first win on ECW.
Striker - Walker with a suplex straight up and down, like six ‘o clock.
Striker - Curtis, also a licensed boat captain - he’s a nautical man.
Striker - Braden Walker makes an IMPACT here!
Morrison - I am John Morrison, and I was offered $15 million by People Magazine for pictures of me as a baby, and I passed.
Miz - YOU DID!?
Morrison - Yes - JOHN MORRISON IS NOT FOR SALE!
“Atlas” - Hip hop, hippity hop, this makes no sense but I NEED MONEY!
“Henry” - EATING MAKES MARK HENRY STRONGER!
Morrison - No, it makes you fat.
Morrison - LOOK AT THESE ABS, if you had abs like these, Mark, you wouldn’t need a belt extender to get the ECW Championship about your stomach!
Atlas - I ASSUME THERE BE SOME TYPA MISUNDERSTANDING!
(after “Hardy” speaks)Striker - Why does this sound like Forrest Gump?
Grisham - I…don’t know…
Hardy - It’s good to see that you’re real big Conan ‘O Brien fans - it must’ve taken you FOREVER to come up with that! Nice scarf, cowboy. I loved you two in Brokeback Mountain.
Miz - HEY! THIS SCARF COST A LOT OF MONEY!

Screens -

Okay, visually, the dirt sheet was awesome.

Nice to see that they're trying to hide the fact that Foley is threatening to quit or let his contract expire. Which it expires in a couple weeks and Summerslam is expected to be his last event if he doesn't renew.

I saw Genocidal's post and wondered what pre-sale was going on, but then the Q sent me an email and I just got my tickets for Unforgiven. Pretty nice that for the $25 seats I'm in the lower level and straight across from the entrance ramp which is where I wanted to be.

Botchamania was a great, fun series. Each episode has been a tickle massage with release. So much release that I had to build a pool just to house all my love. There are sea monkeys in there now. Floating.

"American males! American males!"

No, but really, I would like to see Botchamania continue past Episode 50. It beats most of what's shown on television; everything on CW and UPN (if UPN is still a channel).

"American males! American males!"

"American males! American males!"

Sidebar, I used to like the American Males. Shut up.

I saw Buff Bagwell get arrested once.

Anyway, I read that Foley was not on this week's SD tapings in order to sell his injuries. I'm watching my tape of ECW now, and Matt Striker is filling in for Tazz. Does that mean it's Tazz with J.R. on Smackdown this Friday?

LOL! The first WCW show I went to was a Saturday Night TV taping in May 1998- a full 2 years before I saw Buff Bagwell arrested at the same arena. I was in the mezzanine area, but I made a brief TV appearance when Disco Inferno made his entrance. I was doing his dance. I wish I had a way to transfer that from the VHS to my computer and YouTube.

EDIT: Why does Braden Walker suck so much? He was good in TNA as Chris Harris, but he's so dull on ECW.

If this truly is the end, then I'm really gonna miss Botchamania. I bt if w try hard enough, we can get Maffew to keep pumping them out until at least 100 are out.

Tazz wasn't on ECW so they could put him on SD again, possibly for the long haul (Striker working ECW tells me that they have enough faith in Tazz to once again put him on SD again, but don't have enough faith in Striker to do that at least right off the bat), as Foley may not re-sign. Vince was rough with him on commentary (which he is known to be with all of the announcers) and Mick took it very seriously.

Mick's known as a sensitive guy, and this could be the end of his present run in WWE. If it is, I think it'll at least hurt the Cell match's commentary in the short term, and in the long term, it'll break up the best commentary team in wrestling today, although I am looking forward to hearing Tazz and J.R. on SD this week.

There's a bit more on the situation here - http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/6295/105/ and a lot more on it here - http://www.prowrestling.net/artman/publish/WWE/article1002343.shtml

If Friday's angle was the last we've seen of Mick on WWE TV for a while, he sure went out with a bang (bang), as that was one of the best segments of the year, and the best "money" segment either WWE or TNA has had in a long time.

Also, Kennedy's out for a few weeks after he suffered an injury in a match against Shelton - http://www.prowrestling.net/artman/publish/WWE/article1002358.shtml

Kennedy was finally back on track and in the U.S. title picture again, so hopefully they keep going in that direction when he comes back. Fortunately, a U.S. title match wasn't scheduled for Summerslam, so it isn't going to lead to WWE falsely advertising a match for the show, and since the feud built up in the background of the show, it can easily just start back where it left off when he came back.

Hot damn, the AWA had Mr. Hughes' AWA debut, DJ Peterson's return, Nikita Koloff coming out to "In the Air Tonight" and Larry Zybisko losing a 2/3 falls match to Nikita. Very enjoyable show today.

So what kinds of things was Vince saying to Foley? I actually thought Foley was great. WAY BETTER than Cole, who has been with the company 10 years now, and he still sucks complete ass.

Vince, speaking to Mick Foley through the headset: "I want you to describe their glistening bodies! I want you to detail their muscles and the way their veins protrude from their skin in such a delectable fashion! I want it bigger! All of it!"

^the scary truth

Well, Foley has some improving to do. But, one thing I liked about Foley was that he actually injected humor at some points in the match. It really feels like he's a fan watching the match, and putting in what he thinks. I think he's a great fit with JR, who genuinely seems to like working with him, and is good enough to pull his side of the show. Give Foley 6 months, and I think he'd be a fine color man.

Plus, even though I'm not planning to buy Summer Slam, they almost need Foley to announce that match (even if he doesn't resign, sign him to color that one night). With the setup, if Edge/Taker have it in them to have a classic Hell in the Cell match, Foley's commentating has the recipe to have a match that can be talked about 10 years from now.

I like Foley for the same reason I liked JBL on the mic: as former wrestlers (at the time for JBL), they can inject ring psychology into their color commentary. When a guy takes a serious bump or hard shot, they can speak from personal experience and let you know what something like that feels like, and if they're calling a match that features a former rival of theirs, they can let you know first-hand what's it's like to be in the ring with them (while not technically color commentary, the Foley segement from SD last week is a prime example of the kind of man you have to be to survive against The Undertaker).

Very few anouncers are able to call a match on that level.
