The Black Cena Wrestling Thread

I don't know where the ECW invading TNA story line is going but I hope they don't screw it up.. it still has the potential of being good story telling and possibly even some decent wrestling.

Also.. I'm not sure if this has been posted before but MTV is giving wrestling another shot, specifically MTV2 is hosting a new show called Lucha Libre USA. The first episode just aired and I'm watching it now.. it's pretty good so far, but then again my opinion might be worthless as I actually enjoyed WSX. :]

I wonder if the reason both Layla and Kelly Kelly were wearing leggings is because of Maryse's wardrobe malfunction at Fatal Four Way.

They have always wore those so its nothing new.

So I'm watching the first match of Lucha Libre on my DVR. And it's pretty good. A little sloppy, but there aren't any awkward "uhhh... what are we supposed to do?" moments. Thing is, they don't explain the rules of how to win a match. My lucha expertise is limited to what Jericho talks about in his book, so I'm not even sure of who needs to be pinned to win a team match.

I thought Lucha Libre USA was pretty boring. Perhaps I shouldn't have watched TripleMania XVIII a day before this, but it still looked really low-rent and the lack of PEOPLE IN THE CROWD really hurt it. Plus, the commentary was pretty awful. Good to see Alan Funk back in action.

Actually they did explain to win the match you had to pin the captain of the other team. Also, once one of your partners' hits the floor another can continue in the ring without being tagged in.

Watched the Lucha Libre USA show today on my DVR... not bad. it was at least as good as the WWECW and I watched that every week. Hope it does well. The announcers need all kids of work though.

ah man I wish we were near 500 posts, because Mongo just got selected into college football's hall of fame!

The Steve "Mongo" McMichael thread needs to be done!

I agree with this, just so somebody can say "LOOK AT THIS VENUE HERE! THIS PLACE IS APROPOS AND THAT DON'T MEAN YOU'RE DIGGING AROUND IN THE DIRT WITH FARM IMPLEMENTS BABY"

Former ECW Star Attempts Suicide

- Former ECW star Chris Hamrick reportedly attempted suicide on July 13th at his home in North Carolina. On his Facebook he wrote, “BIG announcement tonight. Stay tuned. It’s to die for!” Then later he wrote, “Hey world I just took 25 sleeping pills. Goodnight.”
Hamrick also reportedly sent several strange text messages to friends before authorities were notified and sent to his home. Hamrick is reportedly getting the help he needs from friends and family.

.....Seemed like a huge attention cry if anything. He knew what he was doing. If he really wanted to kill himself, he would have just took the sleeping pills and went to sleep.

I guess in his mind he felt jilted that his body was (probably) gone and he didn't have many friends and blah blah blah and wanted to see if anyone would care if he left the earth.

I don't even care that he wrestled in ECW....

The writer calling him a star implies that people might actually know who he is. Never heard of him. Looked up his picture and I've never seen him before.

Can't remember anything about him or what he looks like, just that his nickname was "Confederate Currency" Chris Hamrick.

He was in a 'stable' in ECW with EZ Money and Julio Dinero, I think.

I have no love for anyone who wears the confederate flag proudly. Shame he didn't kill himself.

SHIT! Chris wrestled in APW for a bit and I know him. He is a hilarious guy and damn friendly. I haven't talked to him in a few years since the promotion went under so I totally hate to hear this.. I' going to call some of the APW guys I STILL am in contact with and see if we can visit or something.

agreed

Kind of funny too considering how pissy myke gets if you call something gay.

Say something is gay, YOU ARE THE WORST PERSON EVER
Wear a confederate flag, WHY ARENT YOU DEAD YOU PIECE OF SHIT

He's actually surprisingly PC.

Myke is the capo di tutti capi of, at least, the pro wrestling threads, and one of my favorite people in this community.

So, the Money In The Bank PPV is tonight. Anyone care enough to propose any results?

Well, in a perfect world, the winners would be:
Drew McIntyre
The Miz (although I'd be content with anyone but Bourne, Morrison & Henry)
Sheamus
Swagger
Layla

Don't really care about the other matches. I'm guessing the faces will win those.

Oh, and did anyone find it odd that CM Punk continued to shave his head, despite supposedly being ashamed of being bald? I mean, he's worn that mask for like two months now, so his hair would've grown a decent amount.

Kurt Angle's hair hasn't grown back after 8 years.

Well, there was that period in TNA where he let his hair/beard grow, and you could see just how much he's lost over the years.

Yep.
Kurt Angle's hair hasn't grown back after 8 years.
I believe he mentioned that Karen had wanted to see the hair go and that he didn't want to be one of those guys who covers up that his hair is going.

having short hair would have made punk's big reveal from under the mask pretty anticlimactic.

does it make logical sense? dude, it's professional wrestling. some things don't have to make sense - and then there's TNA.

EDIT: My MITB predictions followed by my actual wishes.
Seamus wins via dumb referee who overlooks that Cena touched the ground first (Lobster head needs the win, but I don't care)
Mysterio wins (the promotion of Swagger for this match is excellent, which means he'll lose and fall back to midcard torpor)
Raw MITB: Orton wins (though I've always seen MITB as a match to elevate someone to the upper card, it should be Miz).
- Edge isn't important right now
- Mark Henry is suffering from being Mark Henry
- Evan Bourne is on a downturn from his push
- Jericho may be on his way out the door
- Morrison isn't ready
- Orton brings more reruns to the main event scene.

SD MITB: I can't predict that. They all look like complete fucking losers. Probably McIntyre then. There's no way Christian, Big Show, Fatt Hardy, Kane, Dolph, or Dashing Cody win. Kofi or McIntyre. Meh.

Other matches? Who cares.

Raw MITB - Miz should win, but I can see Bourne winning to rebuild him. Him winning leads to another Sheamus-Bourne match, and you've got to have a guy win the case and lose the match, so yeah, I see that being his role.

SD - I'd like to see Christian win, but I'll go with Drew.

WHC - Rey retains.

WWE Title - Sheamus retains w/ Nexus help.

Divas Title - Eve

Women's title - Kelly Kelly

They are opening with the SD MITB match... So far an okay match... not as good as the WM ones.

Anyone remember people asking WWE to rebuild Kane as a monster and put him in the World title picture? Perhaps it's a few years too late, but it's better late than never.

I've always heard that Kane didn't want a title run because he likes putting over the young talent, and that it would take more time away from his family.

Kane wins?

Wow. He was truly the last person I would have picked to win. I'm probably not the only one that thought of a few people not even booked in the match (it is wrestling, after all) who had a better chance of winning compared to Kane.

Yeah, I heard that too. His selflessness is one reason why I wanted to see WWE push him one last time. Plus, despite his heavy-breathing during promos, he can cut a good promo.

And I hope Sheamus goes tweener. I really don't want him to be the "mastermind" behind Nexus.
