Sad thing is, I bet he will be the first person to not win after he cashes in. I'm pretty sure they are sending The Miz to Comic Con, so I guess he'll have the briefcase and the US title. I remember reading somewhere he got the US Title back because they like whoever goes to have a belt with them. I could be wrong about that, but I swear I read that somewhere.
Nexus drops in from the ceiling. My guess. I know, longshot. Just putting it out there.
I'm predicting wire cutters and entering that way
Bonus points if they enter from under the ring somehow
What happens if one of them gets cut? Will they open the cage to get them fixed up?
Vince would turn the house lights off and pray that the medic remembered to throw on his call of duty modern warefare 2 night-op goggles...
they don't do ceiling entrances since Owen Hart's tragic accident.
Was the Edge and Christian entrance to help in Hell in the Cell during the Brood era, wasn't that after that incident? I can't remember exactly the timeline there.

via Wikipedia, the Hell in a Cell with Undertaker and Bossman where Edge and Christian came down was in March of 1999, and Owen died in May of 1999.
This is the worst part - Slater went after Lobsterhead, so it wasn't like they wanted Cena to lose...they just wanted to cause a bit of havoc
Which doesn't really make too much sense. Combine that with them allowing a pair of wire cutters to be snatched from them and being too scared to even touch a ref...and you got a failed NXT experiment.
I'm good on this crap. Please, move onto the next thing WWE! I could care less about who's the mystery leader now. It's ruined. First Bryan was released. Then NXT started just beating up anyone and not focusing on heels or faces, and now they're too fragile to hold a pair of tools strongly in their hands and too scared to touch a ref
The LAW just started. Should be interesting to hear their reactions to this PPV. Oh and some guy I dunno if someone has heard of... I think his name is Colt Cabana... is on tonight as well.
When Edge pushed over the ladder that Morrison was stuck inside of I think it hurt John more then he was expecting it to. Morrison clearly and loudly drops an F-bomb while crawling out of the ladder.
Wrestling Observer wrote how Triple H or John Cena may be revealed as the "higher power" for Nexus. I would prefer Cena but can't see how it would make sense in the story. I really would prefer to see as little of Triple H as possible. If Triple H is revealed as the "higher power" for Nexus, in my mind I can see how it will unfold. Triple H will turn heel for little bit, shoving everyone in Nexus into his shadow (not that any of them are good outside of Barrett and possibly Gabriel). Then, months later, he'll randomly turn on Nexus, turn face, and team up with John Cena. Triple H will bury Nexus, including Barrett, and we'll be back to square one. Fantastic.
While it would make little sense, out of those two, I would prefer John Cena as the head of Nexus simply because it would be fresh. I'd love it if Miz were revealed as the mastermind behind Nexus. One, it would make sense that Danielson was kicked out. Two, it would give the Miz a leadership position that would add to his credibility as a future world champion. Three, it would make sense. Did I mention it would make more sense than either Triple H or John Cena? The Miz could definitely relate to the Nexus guys more than Triple H or John Cena.
Sigh. That'll never happen, though. But hey, I did not expect Miz to win the MITB match, and he did.
The big issue with a Cena turn is that, after all these years, it's going to have to be a 'big event' turn, not something random. It doesn't need to be Bash at the Beach level, but it should be close. Or, I guess the point would be... he needs a compelling REASON to turn heel. The more cheers Orton gets, the closer I think we are, but I'd be shocked if Nexus is the storyline that makes them pull the trigger.
Raw is going to be very telling tonight, since we got no reveals about Nexus last night, which I'd have to conclude means we're dragging that out til SummerSlam. My biggest gripe with this angle so far is the lack of forward momentum... last night, the show ended with a Nexus attack, which is basically what's happened weekly since they showed up. It's stale, and stopped being novel a while ago.
I really think they dropped the ball by not having Sheamus be the guy behind Nexus, as that would've propelled him even further, plus it's logical. New rookie heel, no respect even after winning the title... makes sense. Cena or HHH makes, well, zero sense, outside of shock factor. On that note, it worries me that HHH's name is coming up, since I can only think it wasn't the plan, but it gets him back for SummerSlam without having to wrestle (if that surgery report was accurate, he won't be physically ready for in-ring).
Maybe it's ADD, but both the Nexus angle and mystery GM, though initially interesting, have worn out their welcome already by not advancing the plot after this long.
I think to truly work, a Cena heel turn has to disappear from people's minds as a possibility - that's, in part, why Hogan's turn worked. If we're anticipating a heel turn, it will fall flat. They can't project him turning at all - well, they can, but they shouldn't. Right now is not the right time. In order for WWE to explode in popularity, they need a solid babyface foil for Cena. Maybe that's Orton, but it's hard for me to see that since Orton doesn't really do anything for me. But, more importantly, Cena has to *crush* the dreams of every 5-14 year old fan of his. It's going to be incredible when it happens, but it has to be that way to work. Someone needs to step in his place on the face side, and he needs to be ready to make kids want to kill him. That's going to take a special angle/approach on his part, because I truly haven't seen many effective heels like that in years. Jericho comes the closest, but even he comes off as prefab and repetitive - let alone that he, like every WWE talent, speaks their lines like robots. Go back and watch those Rock videos someone posted a few pages back; you'll see what I mean. It's hard to buy into the product when the promos and sketches are some of the most wooden shit imaginable on TV.
- let me put it to you in this way; I've watched an episode of "American Teenager" or whatever shit is on the ABC Family channel before Raw on Mondays. Spoiler alert: she keeps the kid. Anyway, that show had me jaw-on-floor ing appalled due to the poor quality of acting. But it's still better than WWE by a long shot. I'm more floored with 'Teenager' because these are paid actors. With WWE you know they're not good actors (otherwise they'd be in Hollywood with Rock). Still, their refusal to let any natural talent or charisma shine through permeates the product.
WWE = that main stage at Showbiz Pizza, but without the quarters.
The SD MITB match was fantastic, with lots of cool spots that worked for everyone. You had Matt, Christian, and Dolph take some crazy bumps. Kofi's big legdrop through the table should work well at replacing any similar Jeff Hardy footage for highlight reels. The announcing bugged me throughout the match with Striker's shit being the biggest offense.
The Barbie Doll title match was standard Raw diva match fare, but at least they kept the title on Alicia as opposed to taking it off of her so quickly and negating the whole point of taking the belt off Eve. Striker bitching about the lack of a Summerslam cup and getting completely owned by Michael Cole after this match ruled.
The Tag title match was fantastic, but a bit short. That might've worked out better for the Usos though, as I'm not sure they could've done a longer match, but with this one under ten minutes, they looked great. Striker's Umaga mention came off as really awkward since he didn't say his name, and Cole saying that the assalanche was an homage to Rikishi was inccorect since it was an homage to Umaga, who they again didn't actually mention. King's comments about DH needing to show fire were certainly accurate, but a strange burial of a face by a face announcer. At least he was won over by him after the finish where DH beat an Uso with the sharpshooter.
Rey-Swagger was excellent - aside from a couple of clunky spots, they pulled off everything perfectly. I loved them telling the story of Rey going for things that he shouldn't do due to the injury, but had no choice but to do since he had to end it quickly. Rey's DDT counter off the top rope powerslam was incredible. Swagger countering the seated senton with the ankle lock looked great as well. The boot-removing spot was a good way to have Rey win while also protecting Swagger, but it was hurt by Striker undermining the logic of the boot removal right before it. Whatever heat Swagger lost by losing the match was regained with the post-match ankle lock. Rey's all-black gear sure was dreary. I liked the snakeskin texture on it, but it seemed bland compared to his usually bright gear. Kane cashing in his case was done really well. I'm fine with Kane winning the title - he's been long overdue for a real world title win. I doubt this reign will be very long, but I can't wait to see him on SD wearing the Big Gold belt. They also finally did what they've teased for five years by having someone cash in the case on the same night that he wins the case.
The women's title match was better than the earlier women's match. I'm gonna give Layla all the credit for that, although the commentary bitch-fest that emerged over Striker's neverending list of nicknames for people also made it more enjoyable. Striker's neverending list of references also bugs me. In this match alone, he referenced Muta, Arrogance, and the Summerslam '92 IC title match finish. Michelle's weird back glitter looked terrible. Morrison was able to pull it off for his abs, but on her, it looked awful. Tiffany's new, more whorish look also didn't do much for me.
Raw's MITB match was even better than the SD one. Striker's reference to Jericho being a Thrillseeker was cute, but makes no ing sense with his current character. Orton's hanging DDT off the ladder to Bourne looked great - thank God he checked to make sure his head wouldn't hit the ropes. Seeing Miz and Morrison in this was striking because it showed that in the time since their breakup, one man's career has skyrocketed and he's raised his game to a whole new level, while the other's has stagnated. Morrison badly needs to be a heel on SD, where there's more growth than he'll have as either a face or heel on Raw. Mark Henry pushing both ladders with guys on them over at once was cool-looking and was a commentary highlight as well. Striker saying that King wasn't going to heaven was ice-cold.
Maryse climbing the ladder to distract Morrison while Ted climbed was awesome. Morrison riding one ladder down to attach it to the vertical ladder and prevent Edge from getting the case looked cool. Morrison winding up trapped in that ladder and then assaulted by Miz and Edge with the other ladder was also neat and led to another creative spot with Morrison being trapped in a tipped over ladder to destroy his ribs. Rated RKO hitting a double press slam to Bourne onto Henry was great, as was Mark's World's Strongest Slam onto Bourne on the floor. The parade of finishers onto Henry afterwards was a good way to take him out, even if the idea of the Codebreaker hurting Henry more than Jericho or Edge's spear doing anything to him is a bit hard to believe. DiBiase's ladder bridge sending him crashing to the floor with the ladder landing on him sure looked like it sucked to be DiBiase. Evan getting revenge for back to back RKOs by hitting the SSP out of nowhere onto Orton was great. The RKO to Jericho off the middle of the ladder was cool.
Miz winning was awesome. He didn't do a whole lot in the match itself, but I still loved this. I remember seeing him as the host of SD, then toil in ECW before the Miz and Morrison team helped him immensely, then they broke up and he was lost in the shuffle on Raw after the Cena feud burial. His post-match promo was hit or miss, but was full of passion. I hope this win is used to truly elevate him to the main event level and not just tease it, but if he does cash it in, I think they should wait because right now, he doesn't make sense as the WWE Champion. Sheamus is deeply involved with the Nexus angle. I'd much rather see him win it from Cena to finally show his growth from his first main event-level feud to this one - he couldn't get it done then, but could at whenever this would be.
Sheamus-Cena wasn't bad, it was just boring. Guys did moves. They did more moves. They sold. Then they did stuff slower. Thank God Nexus came out to add some excitement to the match. Tarver coming out with bolt cutters was a smart move, the ref taking them leading to them sending the most agile member of the group in Gabriel up to attack Cena was logical, even if it did lead to Gabriel being tossed off the top of the cage into the ring - easily the biggest bump of his career and a surefire highlight reel moment for the show. Nexus going after both guys was good, as it prevented Cena from winning, but unfortunately, Otunga didn't go after Sheamus right when he was nearby. It was like the TNA reverse battle royal with guys just standing still for no good reason and having to pretend there's some reason they can't move. Cena massacring more Nexus guys worked for me because they do need to show that the group coming out isn't instant demise for anyone out there, and this is one way to accomplish that goal. It's a shame they haven't figured out a way to make Sheamus look like a strong champion.
The women's title matches weren't particularly very good, and the WWE Title match was boring, but everything else was at least very good. The two MITBs were incredible, while the World title match was fantastic, and the tag title match wound up being better than I thought it would be. It's a shame that the WWE Title was so disappointing aside form the Nexus stuff, because Sheamus really would have benefited from having a great match during another reign where he wasn't given the belt in a strong manner. It was especially strange since he cut a promo earlier about being a paper champion and yet they continue to book him as one while acknowledging him as one.

Edge looks like he's been using Raven as his gym partner.
Maybe I haven't been keeping up w/ WWE much at all, but I honest-to-goodness didn't know Edge was a Raw dude to begin with. He doesn't strike me as important or relevant at all, much unlike he was 2-3 years ago. Which is odd given the lack of top-tier talent right now.
Also, I discovered why I hate modern wrestling matches. Too many ing strikes - it's bad enough that there's so little variety in matches (i.e., punchpunchpunchpunchSPOTpunchpunchpunchSPOT), but the strikes are weak as . I was once told that Vince McMahon hated Tommy Dreamer upon his arrival in WWE, saying he couldn't throw a punch for shit (this is hearsay from a friend who is pretty close to a number of wrestlers). Well, if that's the case, Vince must be beside himself watching the current product. Now don't get me wrong, we don't have to go back to the days of corny shit like atomic drops, but *some* grappling between planned spots and important segments in matches would be a significant improvement in match quality - and that doesn't involve violating the audience's attention span by increasing match length to longer than 90 seconds.
Where are the suplexes? Collar-and-elbow tieups? Snapmares? I know these motherers can at least run the ropes and do shoulder tackles and hip tosses, since that's like the first goddamned thing you learn in wrestling school. Give us that. I'm a bit tired of all these shitty-ass punches on my TV screen.
Is there supposed to be some "mastermind" behind Nexus? Y'all have speculated about it for a few weeks now, but I don't think I heard it mentioned on Raw tonight at all.
So am I missing something, or are y'all just expecting that WWE will have some top-card guy glom onto their success, like they always do? Some sort of Stephanie McMahon gets shoved into the angle kinda garbage?
It's shown up as an option in wwe.com surveys a few times. If the angle holds on until October (also unlikely) they could always just do a variation in the Hell in a Cell.
