Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

June 25th - July 1st, 50% off used games $19.99 and under

See here for the deal: http://www.blockbuster.com/stores

There used to be a coupon to print for it, but now stores should have the bar code to scan at the register.  If not, show them their own web page (above) and maybe they will figure it out.

See BlockbusterGuy's thread for a list of titles eligible under (and commonly found at BBV) for the promo:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/310423-blockbuster-video-4th-of-july-sale-bogo/

Coming July 2nd: B1G1 free on games $29.99 and under

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note that anything below here might be out of date. To be honest, I have no idea if Blockbuster even takes games for trade-in any more!

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit will be placed onto your store account
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at Blockbuster, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Monday. We are not currently sure when trade-in values get updated but a few years ago it used to be on Mondays. Any quotes given in this thread may thus be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

I'm glad I went up to Blockbuster last night after my Gamefly copy came in then. It was still getting $17 around 8 CST last night. It was my first trade in to Blockbuster so I was out the door with five games for around $15 after the trade.

Did Red Faction: Armageddon drop as well?

That's a good question. I wonder if Duke Nukem Forever dropped, since I have yet to finish that and I figured I'd drop it on BBV after I do.;)

Brink is still $25 at micro center. haha. The girl that did my trade said, as long as it isn't on the advertised list, she can take as many as I have. lol
I went back a few pages and couldn't figure it out- what game is KA?
Kinect Adventure, I think
Kinect Adventure, I think
Yes, Kinect Adventures. BlockBuster had a trade-in value of $15/copy. It was meant to be the trade value for the $49.99 version not the freebie bundled with the Kinect (the bundled version does not have a UPC code on the back of Kinect Adventures).

A LOT of people made out like bandits by trading in 1 -2 copies per BlockBuster. Some went overboard though. Anyway, it lasted for about a week on here before BlockBuster shut it down.

I just got back from my local BBV and Duke Nukem, RF Armageddon, and many others were still holding strong at $30 plus dollars.

I don't think we will see another drop worth flipping before the year is out. The TIV values on these games are falling daily thanks to the assortment of Black Friday deals that have come and gone.

Duke is still holding at $17, as is Hunted Demon's Forge which is impressive.

Shhh.... De Blob 2 for 360 is on clearance at some Target's for $5.98 and trades for $15 at BBV

Is that for both PS3 and 360? I just got back but forgot to ask.

How the fuck are those worth almost as much as their msrp ? Lol. If only my bbv had a consistently great used section and did trade ins, ohhh the possibilities

@ Straight Edge

Yeah, I should really go back and edit my post to make it more clear. They are selling used for $30 plus dollars. It sounds like I am talking about TIV but I am not.
The one BBV I was able to give 10 to was because one of the employees know's my face, and I have bought numerous games off of them(many of the deals I've heard through here). If I was any other person he probably would have told me no. Not because I'm special or some shit, but he was either helping out or just unaware. Hell the whole time he was trading them in he was telling me about how I can now get Skyrim so I don't think he gave 2 red cents.

I am on really good terms with the people at a couple of BBV stores and I only traded one copy of KA to 2 stores, total. I thought 2 was too many since they don't take many trades (probably 1 every couple of months tops). And I felt bad even doing that knowing they will never sell them. Just because they know you and let you do it, doesn't make it a good thing to do ;).

In terms of other flips, I haven't paid any attention nor have I even checked BBV in over a week. I figure anything good was gone long ago and getting credit there now would be near useless.

Having said that, Hawaiiboy, do they take 3DS game trade-ins? If so, can you look up Need For Speed The Run? And also Aphalt 3D. Thanks!

Found ten games at two stores today worth buying (at least for flips). Most trading for at least a $8 base.

I hear ya. Next time I'll trade a single title and not go for the jugular

Went to my BBV to rent Saints Row The Third, and I went to see the used section to see what was left, and only 1 game $14.99 or under remained in the store for all systems, which was a copy Tron (360). All the other games were replaced with copies of BF3, LA Noire, etc, and nothing under $29.99 is left.

Apparently all of the Kirby Mass Attack's were incorrectly priced at the store I went to today. Picked up three of them and two other filler games in the 5 for $29.99 deal. She wasn't too pleased her items were mislabeled (not toward me but to her coworker).

Edit: I didn't know they were mislabeled until I saw how she did my receipt as I was walking out the door.

There's nothing left that's worthwhile at any of my local BBV stores. That is, unless you want insanely old games(Def Jam Icon, anyone?) or games that'll be there till Doomsday most likely(tons of copies of Fallout New Vegas).

Only notable game I found at ONE store is Killzone 2. Otherwise the rest have been movie games, kiddie fare or old crap.

Yes, we take 3ds trades. $13 and $10 respectively.

Anyone know the tiv for Once Upon a Monster?

$17

You know, she really needs to get over it since they SOLD. They would have sat there until they dropped anyway. They're on the books as revenue NOW.

I had some success today with the google shopping inventory. I was interested in Two Worlds 2, but google said it wasn't at any of my normal stores. So I drove out to the next closest one that showed stock & looked around. They actually had a decent selection of games (tho most were over $14.99). But I went up to the guy & asked if he minded checking to see if they had the game, and maybe the case had been misplaced or something. He was completely cool, found it for me, and even looked up a couple others I was just curious about. I may try to venture out to that store more often because the dude was so helpful.

Walked out today with Two Worlds 2, Kane & Lynch 2, & Lego Star Wars 3 (still marked at $39.99 lol).

Many of these employees unfortunately aren't bright enough to realize that. They're so concerned with making sure they're right. Maybe if they read the companies memos once in a while they wouldn't look stupid in front of employees and have to get defensive all the time. Not all BB employees of course...I've run into my share of smart ones...but man this company seems to employ some pieces of work.
How about the TIV for Once Upon a Monster (Kinect) and Metroid Other M (Wii)?
You can always call and find out you know. I might do that in a few, but the store nearest me is always busy so I may not be able to get a TIV from them right away.

Had to call two blockbusters cause the first was busy, but some TIV's for people who are interested (all Xbox):

Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster: $17
X-men Destiny: $22
Halo Anniversary: $15
It was 39.99. Looks like the tiv will get an epic nucking as well
TIV is still 25 or so at Microcenter, so I think I'll give it a try and then take on over there Monday.

Something tells me that besides Kinect Adventures, people were flooding their BBV stores with copies of Brink from BB's $9.99 sale or using copies from the B2G1 used or B2G1 new coupon from the Gamer's Club Unlocked welcome packet.

You KNOW it had to be going on, just by the confessions of a few of the folks who helped to kill the KA flip.:bomb:

How long did Cranium Kabooki stay a valid/viable flip? But that was cuz people did that shit in MODERATION.

Thanks! I'll admit it...I just hate calling stores to ask questions.

Bukakke was nearly a year I think?
Bukakke was nearly a year I think?
Actually I think it was a viable flip for longer than that, since I finally found one about a month before it ended up dropping at BBV and I traded that in post haste.

I will say that I do feel bad when I exploit these flips at BBV, since I have a distinct feeling these stores will be stuck with these games until they reach the B1G1 sale price of $14.99.

Case in point: Both Front Mission Evolved for PS3 and 360. I traded one of each of these to my closest BBV when GS had them for $19.99 a copy new(or $17.99 each used). They put them out on the rental shelves and they stayed there for a while. Then they converted them over to used(@$49.99:shock:) and they sat there...and sat there....and sat there....until it finally hit $14.99 at which point I think my one buddy from CAG/PSN bought my PS3 copy I traded in at my closest store.

Same thing happened with Fairytale Fights for PS3 and 360. I grabbed those from BB during the Gamer's Club coupon fiascoes a couple of years ago where people were getting free games after coupon. Both FTF's I traded to the closest store finally disappeared one or two B1G1 sales ago.
Price drops effective Monday 12/5.

:ps3: :360:
Brink $9.99
Batman Arkham city $44.99

$19.99

I also posted this in the DVD forum if anyone is interested.
Ok google shopping still shows them at 39.99. Should I toto store and expect the change still?
Hmm really?? I could see if it were a few pages back or something but it is 1 post before yours.
