I gotta admit, looks good.
Official 300-themed Elite from MS.
That looks sick.

Is it going to be for sale?
Unfortunately just a limited set of 10 to be given away at some big Comic convention.

Much better than the Halo edition.
Space Ranger?
What? Buzz Lightyear?
Howdy, howdy, howdy.
Why did you say that?

Now I have to watch the movie again, I love that part.
Where my BD version?!
I now have to disagree with you. :shame:
Sh'up.

Good evening, OTT. The greatest workout in the world might be trying to walk two dachshunds around the block on a 90 degree day.
New She Wants Revenge record in October.

Mmm~
Wicked good news! Loves me some SWR.

Either I have even less rhythm than I did back in college or there is serious lag when trying to play Bust A Groove on the PS3.

Yeah. I really loved SWR's self-titled.

Speaking of losing rhythm:

I was trying to remember how to read sheet music, earlier today... and my smoke came out of my ears.

Can't it be both? ;)

I keep missing just one or two notes in Rock the 80s. :bomb:

She Wants Revenge is doing an imitation of Interpol imitating Joy Division.

Cliche I know, but it's true.
Everytime we played this in our record store, we would all wince.
But the damn label paid us to play it, and we don't refuse monies!!

Haha.

I'm outta here.

Just bought another 7 books:

James Clavell - Shogun (already read this one, wanted a copy)
Clive Barker - Weaveworld
Clive Barker - The Thief of Always
Leo Tolstoy - War and Peace
Homer - The Illiad
Voltaire - Candide
Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle - Footfall

I'm gonna need a bigger bookshelf.

That's a stretch, in my opinion.

I could see how someone might think that, but I love both of those bands...so I'm not really sure what the problem is. I'm OK with bands that sound like they were influenced by other bands, as long as they add their own thing to the mix.

Nice haul. I used to LOVE Clive Barker. He doesn't really write horror anymore, though...does he?

The Great and Secret Show is my favorite novel of all time. Definitely read it, if you haven't already.

Looks like I just needed some "Natural Playboy" to get me back in the groove.

Really, the only similarity is the the lead singer's voice -- not his entire vocal package, and definitely not the music.

Man, what happened to one of my favorite bands..? That band being Powerman 5000.

I loved their early funk-rock work (not to sound like a douche), and still loved them when they changed their sound to that space-metal stuff... but now they're, like, this vapid "punk rock", or something.

Miss this:

Mega!! Kung Fu Radio is one of the greatest records of all time.

Cool.

Time to see what Weeds is all about. This better be good, Pancake.
Either I have even less rhythm than I did back in college or there is serious lag when trying to play Bust A Groove on the PS3.
One problem with the PS1 emulation on PS3, has to do with a little bit of lag. It's noticeable when playing a Hot Shots Golf, DDR Konami, PaRappa, etc. Add to the HDTV small lag (like mine), it's off.

PS2 games, the lag isn't there (other than my HDTV).
Try Bauhaus.

And Interpol sucks.
Do you have a point here, or are you just name-dropping goth bands? Because there's absolutely no similarity between Bauhaus and Interpol, or Bauhaus and She Wants Revenge, for that matter.
Cool.

I'll stand behind Weeds, as well...very entertaining. Looking forward to S3 next month.

I loved Tonight the Stars Revolt...I think that was the name of the album. I just never got into anything else they ever did.

I went through an "industrial lite" phase in the mid-90's...lots of Gravity Kills, Stabbing Westward, God Lives Underwater, Drown, etc. PM5K's album fit in perfectly with my tastes at the time.

I remember reading an interview where he claimed not to be influence by either band I mentioned. PSH!

Bauhaus comparison? Nah.

I'll stick with Interpol doing Joy Division.
I'll even throw out The Names, but they were a Joy Division soundalike anyway.

does anyone remember that the OTT was discussing Jodi Sweetin a couple of weeks ago? apparently she just got married.

Haven't heard of The Names...I'll have to check'em out.

Have you heard the Editors? Two words: Boy Division.

I'm gonna go suck at Gears of War. Have a lovely evening, all!

The style of vocals in SWR reminds me of the style of vocals in Bauhaus. Now that someone mentioned it, the style of SWR's vocals could be compared to Interpol (though I'm rather inclined to go with Brak in regards to the similarity). Thus, if SWR is being compared to Interpol, you could reason the vocal style is comparable to Bauhaus.

This whole thought train was based off this post from Brak:
Really, the only similarity is the the lead singer's voice -- not his entire vocal package, and definitely not the music.
Regardless, my real point is, I don't give a damn.
Oh, and that Interpol sucks.

The Names were a 2nd, even 3rd tier Factory Records band. Wouldn't bother too much with them unless you're really curious. But they're kinda cool, and Belgian. Check out their video for "Nightshift" on youtube, their most famous song.

I love everything Factory Records so of course I own all their stuff.

Holy shit .. that is the sweetest looking piece of machinery since the Lucy Liu bot.
Those CAG Gaming Nights, or whatever, are garbage.
Are they? I just posted to see if there was room, but if it's garbage I don't wanna play w/ a bunch of garbage people like Chacrana and seanr. :p

They're alright, but the no-names suck -- and I'm not speaking exclusively in terms of skill.

Go try it... You'll see what I mean.
