If Pearce coming in as booker leads to moves in ROH actually meaning something as opposed to EVERY MATCH being finisher>finisher>finisher>finisher>finisher>2 count>2 count>2.999 COUNT!, then it should lead to an improvement in the company's product from the beginning of shows to the end.
More or less what I was getting at when I said ROH shows were exhausting.
I don't mind if a company wants to cater to smart marks - ROH has been successful at it by taking tiny incremental steps at improving their product. The jump to PPV has either been a net negative for them, or something that is irrelevant in the best case scenario. Financially speaking, at any rate. They have clearly hit their ceiling, though, in terms of growth, by doing just that.
I also suspect they could save money by not bringing in Japanese guys save for once a great while. Muta worked; Liger worked; Kobashi worked; and, the rare exception in the long term, Morishima worked very well for them. But nobody buys a ticket to see Shingo. Nobody. It's an unnecessary expense on their part.
The booking went downhill with all the stables. The Age of the Fall "hanging briscoe" promo should have been a new step in the company. Now it just looks like WWF "Gang Warz," except you have tiny flippy guys instead of Los Boricuas, Disciples of Apocalypse, and the NOD.
And their merchandise is hideous.
