The Fabulous Freebirds' wrestling topic

I saw the finish, and I am just not interested enough in the characters for it to matter. I'm sure Jeff Hardy fans are happy, but the IC title doesn't mean much to me.

If they do have nWo vs. DX, I say they replicate the events that first brought the nWo to life. First, bring-in X-Pac to be the third member of DX. Then the nWo (Hall and Nash) will proceed to go on and on about a third member (like they originally did), and everyone will naturally think it's X-Pac. Come Survivor Series only Hall and Nash come out, X-Pac gets injured and taken to the back, etc...all like Bash at the Beach where the nWo was originally formed. As for who they bring-in to be the "third man" I'm torn between it being anyone from Batista, Benoit, John Cena, and even Steve Austin (although it would be hard to make him a heel and make him stay).

Even though it's something we've seen before, I think it would at least generate some interest as to who the third member will be, and possibly create a new top heel on RAW.

The nWo and DX are both kind of face factions at this point as they'd both be so over with the fans. Either way, I think it's time Vince come up with something new.

I think the nWo could be established as a heel faction (to most fans) if done correctly. By that I mean they have to beat the snot out of Triple H, HBK, and maybe John Cena too. Either way, I'll be rooting for the nWo :)
The DVR didn't record this. Is it worth watching later in the week?
Jeff Hardy vs Nitro is, but that's about it. Oh and DX knocking on Coach's door, candygram.

Nostalgia.. that would be awesome.. but the third man should be hogan again... it would be fucking awesome.

Xpac would be in one of those pick your side situation

*** Joey Mercury returned to the ring after a four month hiatus at last week's OVW taping. He's still doing the MNM gimmick as he came out wearing a fur coat and sunglasses. He also recently cut his long hair as its short now.

I expect Mercury to come back and go to the SD cruiserweight division. I really liked MNM, and I think they could've used a little more time together, but Nitro has been fairly successful on his own.

Maybe Mercury could join DX

ECW put on another solid show tonight. Every other wrestling program should look at what they are doing and try and copy it, because instead of shilling product constantly or wasting time with a ton of promos, it places its focus on good wrestling. A 20 minute match as the centerpiece of the show keeps me watching. I am definately glad to see that over time ECW has gone from being absolutely horrible, to the best wrestling show on TV (I still prefer TNA to the WWE, but Impact needs to step it up big time to compete with what ECW is doing)

And next week they follow up all that wrestling with strip poker...

They are only doing that because they could put on the best wrestling show of all time and they are still going to get destroyed in the ratings. Next Tuesday is the Ortiz/ Shamrock fight on Spike and most people who are interested in wrestling probably like MMA as well.

As far as No Mercy goes, they changed the main event in case anyone missed it on WWE.com. I think I might bring a sign that says if Batista wins, I riot. I am kind of glad it is a fatal 4 way though since I don't really care for Bobby Lashley and am sick of the whole King Booker gimmick. (Finlay and Batista were added to the main event)

Strip poker without nipples is like a ham sandwich without the ham, or the bread.

It's true, it's damn true.

Too bad I missed the 20 min wrestling though. Who was in the match?

Test and RVD. It was a pretty good match too. There was interference, but it did not bring down the match the way it does a lot of the time. It was just enough to get the storyline over regarding RVD.
Stunning isn't it... a good match with Testicles in it.
A lot of people have come out and suprised me this year. Steiner and Big Show are two others that really displayed they still have something left in the tank.

Also 2fast if you cannot think of a sign when you go to TNA maybe you could bring one that says "Get Steiner's Money Right!"

Pre-bleach, Scott Steiner was one of the best wrestlers period. The frankensteiner was a thing of beauty, especially when he'd execute it on a running opponent as though he were a cruiserweight. The Steiner Brothers still hold a spot in my all-time top 10 tag teams.

Follow that one up with "TNA Needs Demolition Man" and you'll be set. :D

I'm still mulling over sign ideas...but it looks like I probably won't be able to make one since this is probably my busiest school week of the year. Doesn't help that I haven't been doin' as well as I wanted lately either.

After my hellish day, I was surprised to see a 4-DISC Hulk Hogan Ultimate Anthology already out for sale at a local shop. $20, so I picked it up.

I can understand that. I have not been doing as well as I would like either.

Awesome man. You got it two months before its official release, and that four disc version might become a rarity if it really is just a WWEShop exclusive. I thought tonight's ECW show was good, with an excellent main event. Once again, ECW delivers, and it'll be tough for either TNA or SD to top it.

Raw was a mix of really good stuff (title matches) with horrid shit (HHH burying Masters, and making a mockery of the wellness policy that is supposed to be saving lives, DX in EVERY FRIGGIN' SEGMENT, DX killing the tag title contenders, DX killing the tag champions, DX stealing the thunder from the WWE champion....) I'd better stop there. Thank goodness for Jeff Hardy of all people bringing the awesome on Raw, he and Nitro should work each other forever, because they've got great chemistry - as do Edge and Cena.

If I go, I will make that sign for you.

I'm going for sure, let me know if you are as well.
I'm going for sure, let me know if you are as well.
Actually, shit, the 9th is a Monday, and I've got a fucking sociology test that night, so I think I'm out.

It's too bad they didn't do this on a weekend day. That sucks =/
Someone bring an Angle sign...

maybe something like.... Intensity, Integrity, IMPACT!
That's a pretty good idea, actually.
Just noticed now, wonder how WWE will explain why Kelly Kelly was backstage on Raw? She was in the "divas locker room" when DX busted in.
You should know by now that they won't.

Uuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... okay.......... what does that have to do with the post you replied to?

I hope they put Foley's DDT back in for this game. It's neat to see Neidhart in this, too. While he isn't much of a legend, his simplistic style should be replicated well in this game. onetrackmind, Piper's set could top Pillman's, and it'll be three discs, so it stands a decent chance of doing just that.
Uuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... okay.......... what does that have to do with the post you replied to?
Well... I didn't think my sarcasm was that subtle, but since you didn't pick up on it, I will elaborate. My post was both making fun of Angle's new saying, and joking with Guile. In other words, the long version would have been: "Don't you mean to say 'It's Real! It's Damn Real!!' " Just having a little fun.

I already do that anyway.

Any reason for the pre-emptive use of duct-tape?

It's affectionately known as "West Virginia Chrome" down here.
