Unrelated, but I love that MVP namechecks Immortal Technique.
I know, right?
But that's actually a nice metaphor of sorts. We know Immortal Technique has more substance and style compared to Black Eyed Peas. But one is an artist, and the other a commodity. The former would like people to buy their material based on what they (the artist) wants to do, and the latter is guided by their producers and labels to put out mega hits that will sell, with no regard to music as an art form. People don't complement Fergie on her singing, or her artistry, or her magical Naugahyde-like flesh - they think she's hot, she's

able, she's got a great ass. But that sells records, not some dude who could pass for Homicide's younger brother.
Point is, Immortal Technique will never be a success on the scale of Black Eyed Peas. Similarly, no "good" wrestling promotion will ever be on the same level as WWE. But as long as Immortal Technique still puts out records, and as long as those promotions keep doing what they do, then we as fans of *wrestling* (or hip-hop, as it were) still have somewhere to go.
WWE condescends us and tells us what they want us to like. We keep coming back, like it's comfort food - easy to consume and plentiful.
Where ROH fails is in the loss of its TV programming (and, prior to that, HDNet's poor market saturation, let alone it always being placed in a higher price tier in cable companies). So it's hard to follow their stories and developments (and we all know that angles are a part of why we watch wrestling, not just matches for their own sake). I wish they had a weekly episodic show we could watch - even if it was just a 30 minute YouTube show. That might help me from not going back to Double-Double-Eee.
TNA? Well, there's 8 years of unused potential there. I'd love to see it change, but I'm not counting on it. TNA is an alcoholic uncle with a Ph.D. You know they're smart, but they're too goddamned drunk to ever show but a glint of that brilliance.
