Honestly, I've been expecting Taker to go 25-0. I mean, he really doesn't do anything for half the year anyway, most of the time. Just have him as that guy who always shows up just in time to kick someone's ass at Wrestlemania. Let him do whatever for a few months, make a few sporadic appearances to remind us he still exists, then when the new year comes, he starts a new feud.
A few years ago I might have agreed with that, but he just seems to be increasingly showing his age recently. I think a lot of it is the hip surgery. Still, he's managed to dig deep for the WM matches, but he was notably less mobile at WM26 vs. 25.
Honestly, I don't want Taker to become an 'attraction' guy just to rack up WM wins. They've done pretty well the last few years making it seem relevant (Michaels story, Edge/Batista belt feuds), and it's certainly a far cry from the years like Big Show/A-Train. If he only shows up at WM, he'll essentially just be fed guys who likely could be doing something else, which will eventually end up hurting someone. Taker or not, there's a certain breaking point at which feeding him younger talent becomes harmful, and him becoming an 'attraction' talent would do that.
Once again, I assert that I would've been totally happy with him hanging it up at the same time as Michaels. This Kane storyline is some of the best work that Kane's ever done, but let's remember that we still have to watch a match at some point (ugh). I'm guessing that the time off, only to come back and get injured right away, may have been some kind of wake up call for either Taker or WWE, so we'll see how long he sticks around. Still, it's a weird thing to talk about, though, since I truly view Taker's retirement as the last of the old era. In about 2 years, I'd wager that we're left with HHH as the 'old guy'... Mysterio will be gone, Jericho isn't likely to be around for that long, and even Edge has talked about retirement. We're honestly getting to a point where people like Cena and Orton would be the 'older' guys, which is a bit of a mind

in itself.
Really, though, just think about it... WWE without the Undertaker. That's just going to take a while to sink in.
