The NFL 2012-13 Season Thread - Super Bowl XLVII is the Harbaugh Bowl!
Why type of injury would cause him to miss the entire season?

Even if it was an ACL/MCL he could be back in time for the latter half of the year.
People also said Peterson would miss most of the season. Look how that turned out. Modern medicine is crazy, you can't speculate on this stuff.

Which field did Peterson tear his knee up on again? Oh right, the same one RGIII just got hurt on. I still say people should be more angry at that.

Wow really? People should be talking about that.

MRI shows he has partial tears in his ACL and MCL. So, that's good news since it's nowhere near as bad as AP's injury.

People are just scared about RG3 is all. Considering Washington sports history, most people are thinking the worst, unfortunately.

AP's knee got hurt because he got hit. RG3 went down yesterday because of the field.
Bah, I do not care for your "facts" - Shanny sucks and it is his fault TD had to retire early.
Ha, really I think he was a good coach at one time but that time was well in the past.

I bought my tickets for Packers - 49ers. Its a 9 hour drive, I am leaving late late friday night. in the two Packers playoff games I have gone to, they are 0-2 and both losses happened in OT (2008 NFC Championship game and Wild Card Game @ Arizona)

With that track record, thanks for buying a ticket!
Andy, tell your friends to meet you at the quad because your going streaking. 0-3.
Ahhh, we will see. They are 3-0 in games that I attended in California. Something has to give. I like that the 49ers are favored, I like being the underdog. It will be a fun trip to go on either way. Best of luck, 9ers fans.

That's awesome! Enjoy yourself! Just try to avoid getting shot, or stabbed, or gang beat in the parking lot.

Why would he be wearing Raiders gear?

Only favored cause home teams get an automatic 3 points factored in, so the game is essentially a "pick-em".

I also expect every expert to pick the Packers, so the 49ers can easily look at themselves as the underdogs as well.

I see Jerry Jones is up to his usual fire brigade and place blame with everyone but him for not hiring a GM to redo this team thats obviously not going anywhere anytime soon

RGIII will need surgery and will be out 6-8 months for recovery. Who knows how long he will be out until he is ready to take hits and toss the old Pigskin around.

I love Ryan's quote: "I'll be out of a job for 5 minutes."

He missed by 23 hours 55 minutes so far.

Maybe he meant per pound.

Now that Chip Kelly's not going to the NFL, the media that covers the Browns are scrambling like chickens with their heads cut off to figure out who they're actually going to hire for sure. I've seen at least six names thrown around and I'm sure there will be more until they figure it all out.

Same Cleveland non-sense... we blew our load on a guy that turned us down now we're scrambling.

Kind of like the tribe gets a name manager after they've traded out the talent

Including the Panthers' offensive coordinator. That just reeks of desperation.
Americas joke indeed.
Do kids today still root for the Cowboys even though they have never set foot in Texas?
Do kids today still root for the Cowboys even though they have never set foot in Texas?
I've never been to Dallas and I didn't set foot in Texas until 2007.

Anyways, when I first started rooting for Dallas I was 6 and just followed my uncle who was a Cowboys fan, been a fan since then.

Rob Chudzinski is the new Cleveland Browns coach. Our D has been on the up the past couple years, hopefully he'll have our O looking like the Browns of 07 again.

Edit: Norv Turner as OC

Wait, seriously!? *Checks ESPN* ...Where is this being reported at? I can't find it.

He won't be running any defense if the defense continues to be made of paper and silly putty. Seriously, I want to see the numbers Sean Lee can put up if he isn't injured for over half the season. He has the potential to be the league's best linebacker, but wonky injures continue to sideline him.

Good luck...

Picks for this weekend. Going with all the home teams again. Seattle's the hot team but I think Atlanta finds a way to win. Seattle plays very physical and I think it might be catching up to them in addition to the back to back cross country games.

The Niners beat the Packers based on the upperhand in the trenches. If Justin Smith can play and be efficient, it would a big plus.

I'm going with Seattle and Green Bay in the NFC and then New England and Denver in the AFC (to both cover too). I have a feeling the 49ers will wish they had Alex Smith and his ball control after it's all said and done. Also, no Justin Smith is HUGE - I think he will play be be a non-factor other than orchestrating the defense (which I admit is a big deal). I think the Seahawks are great and have blowout potential and I think Atlanta are total frauds who got extremely lucky this year to finish 13-3 when they seem more like a 10-6 team.

My Picks:

Baltimore over Denver in an upset. I like Denver, but I wouldn't be shocked if this game comes down to a last second field goal.

New England over Houston. This will be a repeat of their regular season match-up. Easy win the Pats.

49ers over Green Bay. I think this will be pretty close, but the injuries of the Packers will be the key here. Plus, they won't be facing Joe Webb at QB.

Seattle over Atlanta. Atlanta is one and done again. I like Seattle's defense to cause Ryan problems all game long.

NE > HOU: Closer, but still not close.
ATL > SEA: Atlanta's due. No one believes in them. Their defense has been huge in big games all year.
BAL > DEN: I don't trust Peyton Manning to have a good game here.
SF > GB: 49ers are a worse team with Kapernick, but are still better than Green Bay.
LOL at all the Ravens picks. No freaking way it happens.
The Ravens have won their last 16 games when Flacco plays all 4 quarters (discounting the Week 17 game against the Bengals) and does NOT turn the ball over.

It's simple: Flacco doesn't turn the ball over, Ravens win.

I know I'm probably the only Chiefs fan on this site, but for those who care, they are starting to list their coaching changes:

Doug Pedersen (Offensive Coordinator)
Bob Sutton (Defensive Coordinator)
Eric Bieniemy (Running Backs)
Tommy Brasher (Defensive Line)
David Culley (Assistant Head Coach/Wide Receivers)
Tom Melvin (Tight Ends)
Matt Nagy (Quarterbacks)

And while not officially confirmed, apparently John Dorsey is finalizing agreements as their new GM.
LOL at all the Ravens picks. No freaking way it happens.
I'll pick Ravens every time as I'm a fan. I also hate Peyton Manning with a fucking passion.
LOL at all the Ravens picks. No freaking way it happens.
I'm torn, because one of the quarterbacks is:

0-3 in the playoffs when the temperature is under 40 degrees.
1-3 after a 1st round bye.
4-7 in his 1st game of the playoffs.

And the other is Joe Flacco.

The Ravens have also won their last 16 games when they scored more points than the other team.
Don't turn the ball over, have better chance of winning. What a novel concept.

I wonder if it works for other teams?!
They don't have a better chance of winning, they DO win. Even Brady has lost games recently without turning the ball over. The only game they truly got beat was the Houston game. Every other game the Ravens made one stupid play that swung the tide away from them. Not to mention they are far healthier than the Denver game, have their best OL configuration, and have 3 of their top tacklers back that didn't play before. And they actually held Manning in check during that game.

Even the Sports Guy is picking the Ravens, as they fufill about 75% of his gambling criteria, though I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing considering Simmons's track record.

It's amazing how different the Hall of Fame situations are for the NFL and MLB right now. The NFL is backlogged with great players waiting to get it while the MLB can't pull the trigger on letting any of their great players in because of conspiracy crap spoiling the whole bunch for their voters.

Your stat also came with a caveat of ignoring the fact that they lost the most recent game where he didn't turn it over, so they can lose those games.
