The Office - Season 4 - Discussion [possible spoilers]

The deleted scenes aren't there, but it seems for when the show eventually goes to syndycation that they have filmed openers for each half hour. It also had an additional scene at the end where Ryan sitting on Jim's desk telling him how he should move to New York. That wasn't over the end credits previously.

Cool. I meant I hope they add these extra scenes to the disc versions.
 
Yea I'd like to watch the episodes uncut with all deleted scenes intact. Every week I loved to go on their website and check out the deleted scenes. Most of them were great. Damn you time constraints.

I could swear I've seen that before.

It's Ryan saying things like..."New York is just....It's like it's just....You don't know how great it is until you live there." Like he can't put his appreciation into words, and Jim is sitting there waiting for him to shut up. And then Jim says "Well I've been there before," and Ryan interrupts him and says, "Yeah, but have you lived there?"

It's been forever since I've seen that, but I was just wondering if that's the scene you found.

It was the episode where Ryan asks Pam out on a date. He has no idea Pam and Jim were together so Jim overheard the move while sitting on his desk. That's why Ryan was trying to hype up his big-city life to Jim cause he couldn't get Pam.

During the first few episodes of the season they put together clips of deleted scenes on The Office website. I think that's where you saw it. However, I don't think I remember the clip with Toby's girlfriend.
 
The Ryan scene at the end was probably there already. Toby bringing in his girlfriend is definitely added to when they cut the hour episode in two, since it was a cold opener.
 
Can't wait, rewatched the last episode to get back into the swing of things.

Does anyone know how many episodes they plan on doing for this season?

I just checked Wikipedia and it says there are another 6-7 episodes this season. It was originally slated for 25. Good news though, NBC just picked up season 5 for 28 half hour episodes.

I believe it's the same deal as last year. It's 28 half-hours, not 28 episodes... so it's likely 22 episodes with 6 full hours.

Unless they get some good characters to back him up. I don't think it will work. I think Ed Holmes can do it, however I don't think the character of Andy has enough depth to pull it off.
 
I know a guy, who is actually a friend, who behaves just like Andy (minus the anger issues). I've found that it kind of makes me like him less, if that makes sense.
 
It would be an odd "everything is back to normal" reset if it Andy left and it went back to the original cast. I don't see how Andy could leave either, he's in the middle of getting it on with Angela and doesn't seem promotion worthy.

I couldn't take the Verizon or Sprint or AT&T commercial from a few months back with the dad character completely aping Andy's entire schtick the whole time, with the silly voices/phrases/"I'm too awesome for awesome school" attitude.

So I wouldn't be down for this. I'd give it a shot, but it sounds horrid. He's a weak character despite all the stuff he's gone through, so I fail to see how long you could keep up the writing for it.

Let's not Activision/EA up one of my favorite shows of all time.

As for the Gilmore Girl lady, I think she's ok. My gf loves that show, but I didn't care for it. Everybody-talking-like-this-all-the-time-isn't-special. I don't know who in the hell thought it was.

I hate Gilmore Girls but she's nice enough.

I miss Rashida Jones.
I watched her new show.
I hated it.

There's no video of Andy singing "No, he was not, he was a to-tal douche."

I think I could watch that for a half hour every week and never get tired of it, honestly.
 
It took a long time for Andy to grow on me but I really like him now.

I don't know how well an Andy spin-off would work out though....

The writers should just do a completely new show with a new cast.

Kind of like TBS did with that grocery store show that is a complete rip-off.
 
Well, that was awkward.

Not particularly entertaining, funny, or well-written. Just awkward. Highly disappointed. The synopsis for the next few look better, though.

Really? I thought it was brilliant. It was one of the most uncomfortable 1/2 hours of TV I've seen in a long long time. I was constantly having to rewind because I was laughing so hard. Way too many great lines.

I think my problem is that I start to care too much about the characters.

When it becomes that awkward for them, it becomes that awkward for me. It's too uncomfortable.

I also tend not to like the episodes that take place away from the office itself. I think the show really thrives when it has the entire cast together. Think about it--no Kevin, Creed, Oscar, Phyllis, Stanley...it just isn't the same.

It's good to see them still run with that joke though, they first mentioned it in season 3 when Michael tried to break up with Jan.
 
It was okay. Actually, okay at best.

This whole "awkward" phase in the Office is really lame. The last episode had funny parts, but this was just one big awkward episode. Yes it was funny, but it is annoying straying from the actual office and I'm getting sick of sex jokes.

Does anyone else hate Jan as much as I do? Gawd she needs to go.
