The Office - Season 4 - Discussion [possible spoilers]

I figured that this would be the best place to post this since it deals with the office.

I'm the president of the Asian Students Association at Arizona State University. Every year ASU holds an Asian Culture Nite and most every Asian club on campus is required to do some sort of performance.

This year, we decided to do a video loosely based on The Office.

I'm not spamming the forums or anything but since we just uploaded the video onto youtube, I figured that I would share it with you guys here. For those interested, here's the link to part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCfsGbFz18c

It's not a complete parody of the Office. I just tried to mimic the mock-documentary filming that they do and have a couple of people resemble some of the characters of the Office. This was filmed for our school so some of you probably won't understand all of the humor unless you're somehow involved with the asian community at ASU.

And some background stuff on the video:

-Planning for it originally started in November but we didn't start filming until the week before the Culture Nite.

-That week was particularly a bad one. Most of the filming took place right after a dragon boat competition. You might notice in some scenes we're noticeably tanner.

-With all the original footage, the video would've been around 40 minutes. Since we were only allowed 20 minutes at the Culture Nite, I had to cut a lot of the stuff out. Also, some of the tape was damaged by the camcorder (which also died on us a couple of times). The version I linked to was the one we aired at the Culture Nite. This would explain why it's really choppy at some parts, either it had to be cut out because of time or the tape was damaged.

-The interview in the beginning is mostly true. Except for the
catching the placenta part

Finally, I know the video quality, editing, etc... is not that great. We're not a film club and I am not an aspiring filmmaker. This movie was made by amateurs so please be a little forgiving. This was the first time that I really wrote a screenplay, shot a movie, and used imovie.

Whew...now that that's out of the way, for those who watch it, I hope you enjoy the video.
Does anyone else hate Jan as much as I do? Gawd she needs to go.
Judging from this last episode, I would say there's a possibility that she might be gone soon. Then again, they stuck together after Michael stood up for the company and not for her.

Loved the episode, by the way. So glad the show is back.
"It was too awkward"

What are you on crack? That's the whole point of the show.
Yeah, I must be "on crack" because I think it's too awkward. That's got to be it.

Looks like there's others on here who feel the same way about the awkwardness, actually.

There's no such thing as too awkward as long as it remains plausible - driving the car into the lake was not funny because it just wouldn't happen. A dinner party at your boss's house could and probably would go down exactly like that.

When Pam told Jan "So you have an office and a workspace" I almost lost it - what a great reference to Season 1 when Dwight was interrogating everyone about the health plan.

"Rhymes with Parnold Schportzenegger!"

"She is the devil. I'm in hell! Help me! I'm burning!"

"The thought of popping one of your beets into my mouth makes me want to vomit."

"It's purely carnal - that's all you need to know."

"Why didn't you just say 49ers quarterback?"

"Tom Cruise!"

God I could go on and on - how could anyone like this show and not LOVE that episode?

My favorite part was when Jim tried to abandon Pam. In real life it would be funny for about 10 minutes then you realize that your girlfriend is going be pissed.

Yes, that was great.

It was really good.

I can't see an Andy spin-off being good, the main character needs to be NORMAL and experiencing the other bizarre characters!
Anyone catch Jan hide the video camera when Pam and Jim walked in their bedroom? I laughed for a good 30 seconds
Even my fiancee laughed at that one, even though she didn't get most of the episode because she's only ever seen some really early Season 1 stuff.

Roufuss? Back?
There was no outro was there?

It said, brb for more office and went straight to Scrubs.
It always says that, but they mean there's more the Office online.

Also, I've decided I like this show, but I don't love it. It makes me smile, but only laugh sometimes.

And for those who don't like the uncomfortableness of the show.....NEVER watch the British, original series. Man.....for most of season 2 I had to stop watching mid-episodes because of empathizing too much with David Brent. He is Mr. uncomfortable moment personified. Maybe the US version is trying to go for that feel more.

Yes, the British one is so good at that. It's weird how both Scott and Brent are the same character yet played so very differently. With Brent you get more of the feeling that he's just an asshole. With Scott, I feel more sympathy.

Man do I wish they worked Angela's pregnancy into the series. Imagine if she found out she was pregnant while she began dating Andy. Now that would be amazing.

The song by Jan's former assistant was just priceless. How sad was Michael's small plasma? Laughed so hard when he showed that to Jim and Pam!

I too think I'm starting to care too much about the characters. Micheal's situation wasn't as funny as it should've been for me.

This episode has to be in the bottom 10% of office episodes. You would think they would have a couple of good ideas coming off the writers strike. Are Jan and Michael's relationship problems really that funny? Jan has got to go. Here's hoping that everyone is back at the office next week.

Very broad episode for the Office, but one that worked for the most part, although some of the characters are really drifting into becoming caricatures, particularly Dwight and Michael.

I thought it was a great espisode.

Andy was my favorite....That scene where the songs playing and it cuts to andy doing his little singing voice...lost it.

Oh and...

"thought about...Im in."

based on this episode and the preview episode it looks like jan is on her way out. thats fine by me, i think michaels dating follies will be much more entertaining.
Thank you Dallas Fort Worth.

Weather Alerts have blocked every minute of the show.
Yeah, it sucks.

Guess I'm downloading it later.

Good episode.

Light years ahead of last week's. I loved Kevin describing the 5 heads of the office building and Andy's dance at the end while the construction guy leaves. I'm completely convinced Andy can head the Office spinoff. I love his character so much. They should move Kevin to that show as well to give him more screen time.

Jim faking out Pam with the kneel down was great--I did almost that exact same thing to my wife when we were dating.

My money is on Pam turning Jim down, by the way. I'm almost sure of it.

Michael is starting to get to the point where he's so ridiculous that it's not believable at all. His reaction to meeting the landlady does nothing but make the audience hate his character.

I had to chuckle at Dwight jumping on the grave stones as they were going through the cemetery. It just fit his character

Man I wish they went back to hour episodes. So much stuff happens and theres aren't many pauses or slower moments like the first couple seasons.

Good stuff, looks like a proposal finale cliffhanger this season.

Pam turns him down, fade to black.

No no no...Jim gives his trademark look to the camera. Then fade to black! :whee:

Theres only four episodes left I think. The one before the finale is titled "Job Fair" so I'm assuming whoever would go to the spinoff gets a new job there or maybe they're bringing in more people. That would be interesting. No title for the finale yet though.

Not gonna decide which episode I liked better, but I will say that the last episode reminded me of how awesome Creed is:

"When Pam gets Michael's old chair, I'll get Pam's old chair. Then I'll have two chairs, only one to go."

I also thought it was really cool you can buy this now

And they're taking preorders for Serenity By Jan candles. Look at the scent names! New Milk?!

Absolutely hilarious episode. Definitely the best of the post-strike episodes.

Andy: "The old ball-and-chain wants more chain than ball lately, if you know what I mean."
Angela: "I'm right here."

Dwight pouring out the drink the lady sent him: "Anything could have been in there--nice try."

Pam hitting Meredith in the head with the football.

Toby putting his hand on Pam's leg.

Greatest of all, Ryan's cocaine addiction. I hate his character so much, but this is a good storyline for him.

Toby bailing was hilarious. He booked the fuck over the fence. I laughed when the security guard came back and everyone was gone, he just looked around and said "Son of a bitch!"

I agree, best of the post-strike episodes thus far.
