The Official Craigslist Finds Thread!

theres a arcade by me that has seveal mvc2 cabs, sells them for $1000, offered $500 and they said to wait until next year, which would be this November. They charge $500 for a MvC1 cab.
Depends on the person, I could write a guide on it. Obviously these are abbreviations, I'm much more longwinded:

If the price is less than the max I'm willing to pay, i e-mail them saying I'll take it, I'll drive to you, when's good, what's your address and phone number, I pay cash.

If the price is more than I'm willing to pay, I put together a quote, drop it by a bit, and e-mail it to them, with completely not regard for their original amount, except that I won't pay it - this e-mail says something like: I'll pay xxxx, cash. I realize this is less than you're really looking for, so feel free to wait a few days or a week to see if another buyer comes through before accepting if you'd like. I also explain to them that I'm a game dealer and not an end user in this e-mail - 99% of the people I work with have no problem with the fact that I'm making money.

FINALLY, if there's not a list, I e-mail them telling them I need one before I can make a decision, but that they can leave out any sports games from the list as they don't really hold a value. UNLESS it seems like a REALLY good deal, in which case I offer to take it WITHOUT seeing a list, b/c they're more likely to go with me b/c I'm not making them work (Someone had a N64 and 23 games for $85 - I took the gamble, b/c I knew if they had just a few of the "N64 staple games" mario 64, kart, parties, goldeneye, it'd be well worth it and put a lot of "other" stock on my shelves - actually turned out to be a really killer lot that a lot of others missed b/c they wouldn't take the risk.)

I also use feeds to make sure I generally AM the first person to reply.

Honestly Animal, a lot of it just has to do with the level of activity in your area. Hardly anyone buys gamecube anything here, and I end up walking away with a lot of it for a good price b/c no one else replies to the ads.
hey pfp, what do you mean you use feeds...are you talking about running scripts to notify you when certain keywords are hit? I've been toying with something like that, but here in LA with the massive amount of spam, there are waaaay too many false positives. Just try searching all "for sale" in LA for "NES"...there's a couple of scammers now flooding the boards with some satellite and cable boxes and crap.

Look for a program called "feedburner".

Put the rss link for the "feed address" or whatever it's called (I set it up a while ago, and it was my first time dealing with rss)

Set it to check every 10 mins, and notify for 1 minute.

You'll get a little reminder from your system tray every 10 mins, like you would for a new e-mail w/outlook, or a registry change w/spybot, notifying you of the new postings in your selected category. When it pops up, you'll have one minute to scan the titles of the postings. Look at the ones you like, ignore the others.

These notification will sometimes come before the item even appears on the Craigslist website, b/c it cycles and I think the feeds pick up instantly. Learn about RSS, it pays.

Also, I find this (picture below) easier to browse through than a website, mostly b/c it's not click link, click back, find where I was in the list, click link, etc. etc.....

Oh, and flag those bitches who are keyword-spamming.

And better than searching for "NINTENDO", search for "MARIO" - you'll find people that have listed their games, and you'll find ALL Nintendo systems from NES through Gamecube, sometimes Wii's, though rarely a good deal on them. ;)

Well this confirms my suspicions from another thread, we're definitely competing over the same territory. And how am I supposed to compete with this?

I spend 8 hours a day in my office at a day job when I'm looking at it a lot less then automatically every 10 minutes.

:D

Seriously though, I don't think we're competing too much - Unless somethings REALLY good (and I miss a lot of the really good ones!), I usually place an offer far lower than asking and tell them to get back to me when they're ready to accept my offer if no one comes in higher or everyone falls through.

And if you look in my store you'll see that I do very, very little business on current generation.

Uh... Yes. Those are all games worth playing/owning and you if you wanted you could make the money back by selling FF7 and Parasite Eve/FFT/DQ7 after you beat them.

i remember when dragon warrior came out for ps1, I wanted it so bad but it was to expensive for me lol.

great RPG game. One of my favorites.

Uhhhh, YEAH!!! I hope you jumped on it. Though it's a little too good to be true. The quality to crap ratio is pretty much infinite.

I just hope it's not a fake ad or worse, a setup, and the guy rapes and kills you when you go to pick them up, LOL. Or kills THEN rapes you. Ewww.

Okay here is what i ended up with for only $75

Yeah, I think the city's big enough for the two of us. I'm not sure where you got the idea that I'm a current generation guy though. I stick to older Nintendo stuff most of the time, I'm especially after great N64 deals since I'm trying to collect them all.

I found an RSS reader add on for firefox yesterday, it lets me see craigslist posts before they become visible to the public on the site. I have it monitoring the electronics sections and the games/toys section.

Nothing that's grabbed my attention, though. There RSS link is at the bottom of the page

Las Vegas CL user wanted to trade SF4 for GTA4 .. umm yeah .. I emailed him, then I trade my extra used copy of GTA4 for his brand spanking new copy of SF4 within the hour .. this happened 3 days after SF4 launch day. ^_^

Wow. I can't believe you wound up getting all of that for $75.00. Congrats. That's an amazing deal. A sealed DQ7 will easily get you your money back and that black label Silent Hill they threw in is worth around $50.00. You got $300+ worth of games for $75.00. I'm jealous.
i remember when dragon warrior came out for ps1, I wanted it so bad but it was to expensive for me lol.
I might be wrong here but didn't it release at $19.99 (budget price). I remember it sitting out on the shelf at my Target next to all of the Greatest Hits games and the budget Bandai games (DBZ, Gundam, Inuyasha, etc.).
Got 173 Sonic the Hedgehog comics, as well as all 6 Nights Into Dream comics for $75. Included were Sonic #0, the first issue ever. I'm thrilled :D
Apparently, #124 alone is worth what you paid for all 173 comics: http://cgi.ebay.com/SONIC-The-HEDGE...286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:16|39:1|240:1318

I finally got a couple of deals worth posting, I read about all these fantastic finds and never have anything to contribute. My finds are not amazing by any means, but they are still more than decent.

For $50 :

Final Fantasy 7 - Black label
Final Fantasy 8 - Black label
Final Fantasy 9 - Black label
PS1 + Dual Shock + Generic Controller + Mem card

Everything was in excellent condition, the discs were flawless. To cover the costs of this I was thinking of selling my old copy of FF7 GH and my old PS1.

Also for $50 :

Nintendo DS
Spyro : Shadow something

I thought this was a pretty good deal. The DS was a bit worn but the screens were excellent, I am sure they were covered the whole time. I am thinking of painting it since it is worn a bit. And I will sell of Spyro to recoup some of the cost.

Had to drive out a long distance but today I got a great condition Top Loader NES with hook-ups/power/dogbone controller and a boxed copy of Dr. Mario with all inserts all for $25. Was worth it!

Just got a response, and I'm thinking about it. Should I?

he games are king's field 1 & 2,
Spongebob Squarepants,
tennis,
Madden 01,
blood omen,
tail of the sun,
Suikoden,
Test Drive 4,
Final Fantasy 7,
Rage,
Resident Evil,
Toshinden
, Disc World, UFO defense,
Panzer General,
and Kileak.
i am not sure about the price but maybe 40 for the games and 60 for everything. i can negotiate.

Jump on that. At $60 for everything you could easily make most if not all your money back from FF7 alone, and I think a few others there are worth some money as well (Suikoden, Ufo Defense, possibly Resident Evil.)

Suikoden goes for a ton on ebay. Between that and FF7, you'd reap your costs back and make a nice profit. Plus, they'd look damn good in the collection. Do it.
Just got a response, and I'm thinking about it. Should I?
Yes! If that's X-Com UFO Defense, that's worth a boatload (around 50 - 60 last time I checked) and FFVII + Suikoden are nothing to laugh at. You'll wind up getting more than $150.00 for the lot if you flip it on eBay.

Yeah he said it's mine. Now I just have to find a way to get to him. 24 min car ride.(No car) or 2 hour bus ride(hell no) lol

I found someone on CL who is offering a GBA micro (Im guessing original version) and 3 bad games for 50 bucks. I know it's not a find but should I take it?

Should I pick up a brand new and sealed GTA San Andreas Special Edition (black label) for $20? I saw one on ebay for about $190, but not sure if it would ever sell for that much.

If you can make at least 20-30 bucks (in any game related situation in life), it's worth flipping. But if this is selling for 200 new and you're still uneasy, make the starting bid 120 and the BIN at 210 or something
Just got a response, and I'm thinking about it. Should I?
Come on, why are you even asking that? Jesus. Of course you should have already picked it up before you posted the question.

I don't know what he wants for that added $20 but if that's just for a PS1 system, I wouldn't bother unless you really want one. The $40 for that list of games is excellent.
I found someone on CL who is offering a GBA micro (Im guessing original version) and 3 bad games for 50 bucks. I know it's not a find but should I take it?
No. Offer $25 (tell him no one is buying Gameboys now with the DS out, and Gamestop will offer him $2o credit for all of that), tell him to think about it and when no other offers come along or they fall through, to call you.

Sometimes the only way to get the point across is to tell them, "look, I know this might seem dumb, but here I am, cash in hand, ready to buy, i can come anytime".

This works for me sometimes when i see something good and the seller says they had offers.

Okay, I got what I think is a pretty good score tonight, as well as a pretty good sale. First, I sold a bunch of Blu Rays that I had picked up over the course of the Gamestop 75% off (85% off with EDGE card) clearance for $10 each that were dupes or didn't go into my collection for whatever reason. They originally cost me around $1.50-$2.50 each. Stuff like the Resident Evils, Spider-Mans, etc. So not too shabby, especially since the guy came to me and paid cash.

Now for the deal. I was browsing craigslist and came across the following ads for a Gamecube and DS (I believe I was searching for "gamecube wireless", as an alternative for "Wavebird"):

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/ele/1056431491.html

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/tag/1056433708.html

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/ele/1056435824.html

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/tag/1056437722.html

The jist of the ads:

Nintendo gamecube and nintendo ds come with super smash bros for game cube game cube also comes with 4 controllers 3 wireless. Both in perfect working condition and come with all the wires. Serious buyers only 213-:hot::drool:-:cold::bouncy::drool::hot:

Then I find the separate ads for the DS alone...he's asking $30 for it:

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/ele/1056436741.html

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/tag/1056438372.html

Hmmm. All six ads within a half hour of each other, first two with the price at $50 (for a Gamecube with SSBM and 4 controllers, 3 wireless AND a DS) and two with the price at $40 (for the Gamecube with SSBM and 4 controllers, 3 wireless only), and the last 2 with a DS for $30.

I figured, with the DS and hopefully at least 1 or 2 of those wireless controllers being Wavebirds (platinum???), I could definitely get my money back and then some. IF it was still available.

I contact him by phone, and he tells me he still has everything. I tell him I've got cash and will pick up, but since nobody is buying Gamecubes now because of the Wii and nobody wants original DSes because of the DS Lite and the new DSi, I will give him $40 cash for everything, take it or leave it. I figure, with that many ads all within a half hour of each other, dude is desperate for cash.

He agrees, and we set up a meet for 6:30 this evening.

I get there, take a look at everything, and hand over the two twenties. This one had a few bonuses so I'm glad I jumped on it. Dude was a young guy and I had to laugh, wondering if he was selling this stuff so he could just buy some booze (didnt seem like an addict or junkie though) or who knows what. He had the meet setup in a Ralph's parking lot, so I'm guessing he wanted to use the cash to buy some booze. Also wondered if this stuff was stolen, since the DS has no AC adapter. Maybe he stole it from his little brother considering the bonus Pokemon game, LOL.

Here's what I got:

- Platinum Gamecube with Digital Video out (i.e. component video capable)
- 1x official Black Gamecube wired controller
- 2x Wavebird Platinum controllers and receivers (cleaned and added to personal collection already)
- 1x Gamestop wireless controller and receiver, black
- Super Smash Brothers Melee, disc only, lightly scuffed (in the Gamecube...will need to print up a new case insert and/or find a case for it).
- the normal AV cables and power supply
- some crap third party "16" memory card

- DS, original fat version, silver, has its stylus (no AC adapter though...I was worried when it wouldn't start up, but figured I'd give it a charge when I got home and see then - for the price I was paying, I'd take the chance). And in the DS are:

- Pokemon Ruby version for GBA
- GT Asphalt Urban for DS

----------------------------------------------

When I got home, I used my GBA SP charger to charge the DS, and it works beautifully. Screen has a few very minor scratches, but all in all it works great.

I'm probably going to go buy another GBA SP charger from Gamestop, a used one so I can resell the DS with it. Any idea what these old models go for? videogamepricecharts.com lists them at $83.xx, but I wasn't thinking of getting that much for it. Maybe $65 on craigslist, including the new AC adapter I'm gonna buy and the GT Urban Asphalt game? Or maybe I should trade it in to Gamestop...I think they have a trade-in deal going on with bonuses for DS/DS Lite trade-ins or bonuses if you trade one in toward a DSi. Any recommendations? I basically paid $20 for it.

I'm also wondering whether I should keep the Gamecube, since my black one is boxed up in storage and I can't recall if it has the digital AV output like this one does...but I'm pretty sure it does. I was thinking about selling this Gamecube along with the Gamestop wireless controller and the official black wired controller on craigslist, and list it with some of the higher demand games I have like Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes, NCAA 2K3, and Pikmin 2, though list them all with separate prices (not as a bundle). It would be nice to get a case/instructions for the SSBM when I resell it, but I can always get the printout of the case insert from the cover project.

Anyway, that's my score for the day...

Did a little chatting with someone on craigslist today, I'm supposed to be meeting a guy tomorrow for a Genesis in the box in "amazing condition" with 5 games which are the following - Wheel of fortune, Steel empire, road blasters, monopoly, and family feud. The games might not seem to special, but I do remember playing steel empire.

I offered him $30 and he bit. I told him to call me when he's ready to meet and so we'll see if he does. I hope it's not a joke or anything.

I have a few original playstation games I found in a old box of junk. Games include the case and instrutions. Asking $5 a piece or $50 for everything. Cash only, must pick up.

Crash Bandicoot
Metal Gear Solid
Resident Evil
Grand Theft Auto
Final Fantasy VII
Twisted Metal
Nascar 99
Suikoden
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX
Syphon Filter
Tony Hawk Pro Skater
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2
Good deal or not? Went ahead and offered asking price for the lot. Told him I could pick up this weekend. I already own a black label of MGS, so this one will go on ebay to offset the cost.
Sometimes the only way to get the point across is to tell them, "look, I know this might seem dumb, but here I am, cash in hand, ready to buy, i can come anytime".

This works really well for me after a few days when those offers have fallen through due to no shows and such!
