The official "OMG Wii IS HERE!!!!" HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY THREAD!

I fear Zelda's length and depth as well, but I think I'm going to pack my DS away, turn off my internet, disconnect the cable so that the only entertainment I have is the Wii and I just play it. It's funny, since life has gotten more busy for me with school, work, family, etc., I've actually been playing more games. I've just started budgeting time for it, look forward to my 45 minues or 90 minutes some afternoon or evening I have to just throw does some

I understand that Christmas is but a wii-bit more then a month after launch.. so I can get Games 1, 2, and get 3, 4 for Christmas.. (I also want Elebits!!)

I am leaning to my original plan of Zelda, Rayman, Trauma Center. :)
(Though, I am getting them at Target, so I'll get $20 giftcard..so Red Steel or Monkey ball would only be $30...or I can get 2000 wii points for free..)

Sigh. 12 days left. Well 11 days and some hours for those who are getting it at midnite. But pretty much for ME.. it's 5:37am right now. In 12 days I'll probably be at Target for about 45 minutes already..LOL the things we do for games

well, today, I geeked out a bit and rearranged my game shelf so that Wii games had a spot with the GC games, while GBA & DS got moved around a smidge. Granted, it took like 45 seconds to do it, but it was something to pass the time... nevermind the unending amount of real work I have to do. ;)

Finally putting in some time with LoZ: Wind Waker in order to pass the time. It's a pretty decent LoZ, the sailing gets repetative though.

Crap, I gotta do this! I'm going to have to do some serious rearranging for this upcoming generation.

Yeah, once you get the song of gales or whatever it's called you're golden. It cuts your wasted sailing time down quite a bit.

I just finished getting the triforce shards and I have to fight through ganon's tower and I'm done with the game (not doing every sidequest or anything).

I want to beat it before I sell off my GC and get my Wii.

LOL

Ok, so I have the maturity of a 12 year old, sorry.

My Best Buy has cleared out a large space, with the haunting words proclaining the coming of the Wii. (Heh heh heh.)

You f*ckers aren't making it any less agonizing.

However, South Park tonight helps slightly.

I need to get to Ikea fast and buy some cases for my storage unit in preparation for the Wii....

This sucks. Just talked to the EB where I preordered.

Now they're not doing a midnight launch or opening early on Sunday.

Friggin' noon.

Oh gods. I hadn't even taken into consideration the fact that my GS might not open until later in the day on Sunday. I don't think I'd be able to wait around until noon on the 19th.

If this turns out to be the case for me as well, I might just try to buy a Wii at Target that morning and cancel my preorder at GS afterwards.

Cliff notes: I wanted a wii, didn't want one, want one again but didn't pre-order. Am I looking at a hassle here even if I wait a week or two?

Okay so naturally as a Nintendo fanboy I've wanted Twilight Princess for awhile now. Also, Naturally as a Nintendo fanboy I wanted a Wii. (Hell I was even behind it when everyone bashed the controller for looking like a remote at unveiling during E3 05)

Suddenly my interest in the Wii dropped, I also wasn't convinced that Twilight Princess could sell a Wii for me considering I could pick it up for GCN without the $250 price tag attached. Then once again to make a long story short I became interested in picking up a Wii and its version of TP.

Now I'm without a pre-order for either Zelda or Wii. This isn't going to be as hot/ as hard to get as the PS3 (which I'm camping for) but it will still be hot.

So the question is.. will I need to camp? Can I walk into the store 1-2 weeks after launch and pick up my Wii and TP with little hassle?

Sorry for the dull post.

Rejoice at pallets stacked high with Zelda goodness! (from Kotaku)http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/nintendo/wii-and-zelda-porn-yes-213505.php

Nobody knows for sure. It is possible that you'd have to camp to get one, but most signs point to being able to walk into a store early on launch day and pick one up. However, they will sell out at some point, most likely on the first day.

If you don't want it on launch day though, and want to wait 1-2 weeks like you said, it will be possible to pick one up, and will probably be fairly hassle free with a little bit of work. The Wiis will be restocked fairly often through regular shipments from Nintendo, but the key is to figure out which store is getting a shipment when. I'm sure by calling the stores fairly regularly when you want one, or checking online at places like CAG, it shouldn't be that difficult to find out when a stores are getting shipments.

So the short answer is, it won't be effortless, but odds are it won't require you waiting in line for hours. A little time spent making phone calls or researching online will save you a lot of legwork.

edit: and again, this is all speculation. With TRU adding the Wii as one of their hot items, and with the PS3 being so difficult to obtain, Wii sales could really take off. When you add the price range being something that isn't too ridiculous to give children as a Christmas present, the Wii will definately be a hot item this Christmas. The good news for us who will be getting a Wii is, the harder it is to get one, the better the system is doing, and the better the system does, the more support it will get. Personally, I am hoping that the Wii is in such a huge demand that they fly off the shelves and developers take notice.

This reminds me of the EB/GS Wii preorder thread and in the beginning everyone thought they could walk in at noon and still peorder. Then as the day approached people were talking about getting there at 6am, and of course preorders sold out within minutes of opening.

Launch will probably be difficult without some camping, but as long as Nintendo keeps up with regular replenishments and people stay alert, it shouldn't be too much of a problem in the weeks following launch.

9 MORE DAYS!!! Holy crap, I am unbelievably excited. Twilight Princess is going to be amazing. The Intro screen alone gave me shivers when I first saw it. I am going to be camping out for it with some friends.

Yeah, I get more stoked every day. I've got friends / family who are like, "Bro, it's a video game system." I don't care. I think we all know the fun of the experience of entering another world via gaming, and I have a strong linclination that Wii will take me back to what made that experience so amazing for me all along, going back in the day. The games, the controller, Nintendo's approach to it all. I'd wager on everything being right.

The 17th is going to be the main day of angst, for me. That'll be the day of nervously trying to figure out when I'll need to head to Toys R Us to start waiting (finding out their allotment and when they're opening, mainly) coupled with the fact that it'll just be two days away! Saturday will be gravy since I'll probably be waiting for a decent amount of the day.

Anyone waiting more than an hour or two to get a Wii has lost their marbles. ;) I'm anticipating that the consoles will be available until mid-morning before they are all gone.

I won't be able to play my Wii until late Sunday evening since I'll be on my way back from an out-of-town trip that afternoon.

That's gonna be a tough 4-5 hours for me :bomb:

couple questions:

--how much for a target replacement plan?

--what do you guys think the nintendo warranty will be on this-- a year?

It is safe to assume the Nintendo will cover the Wii with a 1 year plan. I'm guessing Targets' extended coverage will be around $40.

Here is another quesiton. Do you have to renew the paln each time you take the Wii back to Target? (Assuming it needs to be returned more than once)

I think I read a post that said you didn't...but I might be mixing that up with Costco.

i'm not 100% on that.

another question-- can you save Gamecube games to the internal memory or do you have to have a card? And I remember reading that Wavebirds might not fit on the controller ports for some reason-- is that still the case?

As for Wavebirds, I'll let the pictures do the talking:

true. I'm gonna order one now.

Ew, the big wavebird receiver looks really tacky on the wii!!

MEH.

9 days.
Jeeze, this is going to be long.

Yet, the funny thing is for the past few weeks lots of people have been excited and get MORE excited as each day gets closer. Before you know it, we'll all have our Wii AND somehow, before you you know it......it'll be 6 years from now and we will all be doing the same thing for the NEXT system(s). It's insane I tells ya. Time is flying by too quick. (Yet somehow these next 9 days will take a LOOOONG time)

I went to the GS where I preordered my Wii and, contrary to what they told me earlier, the store will be opening at midnight for the Wii launch. Thank gods! When they told me a few weeks ago that they wouldn't be doing a midnight launch I was dubious of my ability to resist the urge to seek out a Wii at Walmart's midnight launch.

VIII Days Remain.

i read Joystiq ALL DAY LONG! i just keep going back looking for the smallest ounce of Wii news. i keep driving around town asking questions at different stores trying to get my launch gameplan ready (i was the first one turned away for preorders at my local gamestop so im winging it now). i have alot of plans in my head now but i still havent decided on which one i want to take my chances on. THIS WAITING IS DRIVING ME CRAZY! IM READY TO LOOSE MY SOCIAL LIFE TO WII! ive actually considered freezing myself, but i cant fit in the freezer.....
Change the 2 in the title to 1, and kill the less
Tomorrow that's what happens. Yes, some people will get it in a week 2nite, but regardless it's still 8 more days for alot of people!

So if my router works with my DS it should work with my Wii right?

I remember when Nintnedo launched its online servicw for the DS. It featured a list of campatible routers. Mine was not compatible until I tweaked a few settings on it.

I can't play any games anymore. I'm so pumped for the Wii nothing seems exciting to me any more.

Thinking about it should I spend the extra money I don't have on a GS replacement plan? Or do you think I could live with the Nintendo warranty?
