You DO know they have the option to manually shut off the controller, which takes all of 4 seconds or so to do, right? It's second nature to me now to do that before shutting down the PS3.
I do when I'm done, but sometimes I'm also doing other things and turning it off is less of a concern, so this would definitely help a lot. You can't argue that this is a useful thing for many people out there.
I still wish they would allow for selective updating, so I could pick and choose what kind of functions I personally want, instead of grouping me in with everybody else.
Is it really that much of a pain in the ass to not use this stuff when you update? Just because it's there, it doesn't mean that you're forced to use it.
If Sony had actually put in a good amount of memory and optimized the system to use it right, they might be able to do the in game browser right now.
Maybe, but I'm sure in-game browsing wasn't much of a high priority idea when coming up with the specs they'd need for features they wanted the PS3 to have.
Where does MS have to play catch up to Sony though? They have a system which has a pretty reliable online service, which you unfortunately have to pay for and the system plays games. To me, that's all that is required, since I guess I'm one of the few people who bought a PS3 only to play games on and offline and maybe web surf with it once in a while.
In-game XMB-style functionality to let you have instant access to the dashboard itself while playing a game without having to quit to the dashboard first. The new dashboard's got something like this, so it won't be much of a big deal for much longer, though I'd add the use of the Xbox button to bring up the dashboard while watching movies or listening to music, which I use to delete or tidy up my video or music tabs when they get cluttered. The ability to have the system stay on the dashboard when you put a disc into the system and not have it start up the game, regardless of whether you're playing an XBLA or doing something else that's important to you. The ability to eject a disc from the dashboard or with the blade that pops up by pressing the Xbox button. The ability to easily switch between displays in the dashboard without needing to shut off the system. Is there a way to switch controllers without shutting them off first? Again, those may not be very important to you, but they are fairly big things that one does that the other doesn't do and I'd love to be able to switch between the two systems and not have to be reminded that I can't do something on one system that I can on the other system.
