Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.


Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

That's why I have a second steam account. I usually buy two copies of most bundles and add the games to my secondary account first. If I like the game, I add it to my main account. Most bundles can be had for a buck or two, so it doesn't cost all that much.

Indie Royale is the only one that I've never bought a second copy of because Desura acts like my secondary steam account. I can test those games there first.

Well Rybrad did stop updating the GMG thread after Mooby deeply offended him with a question and he left in a huff.

For once there was some drama in one of the PC gaming threads here that I actually wasn't involved in.

The first game I ever got for Steam was Magicka on sale at Amazon in May 2011. I thought wow a sale on Magicka! *chortles*

I didn't even know it was Steam either. I was one of those types who buys stuff from a DD store and doesn't even pay attention the client or DRM.

At the time I thought Steam was really terrible because I used to hang out on the RPGwatch with a bunch of crusty, crotchy old Europeans who are clinging the the 20th century for dear life and seem to think Steam is one of the horsemen of the apocalypse.

How times change...

All this talk about porn stars and games is making me remember I meant to get around to getting Gods: Lands of Infinity at some point.

Will that 80% off Strategy First code work on it? :p

Yeah. I thought there was no way it was unclaimed, and I was hoping it was a key for Binding of Isaac without the DLC as I've heard the DLC is quite difficult. I'll have to give mine away when I grab that bundle.

The DLC does add some enemies that are noticeably harder to deal with but nothing overbearing. I don't think the harder stuff unlocks until you kill Mom a certain number of times, though.

Heh, he was totally workin those blue coins. He works hard for the virtual money. So hard for it honey.

Also, I love how the 'actress' has eye shadow and lipstick on while she's in a full plate armor.
 
I bought Grimrock during the Summer Sale. I knew that it could be in a bundle before I played it, so I added it to my inventory. That way, I could still sell or trade it later. And now it's in HIB7... which has separate keys for each game. Oh well. Beat the average anyway to get the soundtrack with it. And it's charity, so yeah. Probably give the inventory copy to my wife. Or girlfriend.

Do you or anyone have the link of the account tool that shows a pie graph of the games you've played and the games you haven't even touched? I remember seeing a link in a post a while ago but couldn't find it.

I played an hour of Sonic Generations.

I think it's about as slick and as good as a Sonic game is capable of being.

That said, I've always found the core concept of Sonic (moving to the right as quickly as possible) a little bit distasteful.

That said, I'm finding Generations to be charming enough that I think I'm going to keep playing it. I'm enjoying myself.

From MLP:FIM or earlier versions? I can too. Well, that's because the toon name of the MT in my old WoW guild was TaylorHayes (apparently a porn star).

I'm going to guess that you didn't play Sonic 1 back in the day when the speed really was unique.
 
I owned an Iron Maiden shirt once.

I still do.

But I use it for when I'm painting now.

I think that was a good life decision.

I totally did, but I was a little kid. Sonic was actually my favorite character of any type when I was a child. I read the comics and watched the television show (the one where they're all domestic terrorists) and played the games. But at some point I grew up and got into slower paced games (RPGs, RTSs, etc.) and realized that Sonic's gameplay stresses the hell out of me and I kind of hate it.

Sure, FC3 will probably be on sale. Everything is on sale. It might be 25% off. Or it might not be on sale at all. Anything's possible. ;)
 
If you could get $5 for DNF take it and run. It is bad. Is it the worst game ever made? No. Is it worse than the Duke Nuke'em they were giving away on GOG for free? Yes. Might have been better if they didn't break up the shooting parts with a bunch of platforming/vehicle/aimless wandering nonsense. That and a four gun limit... in an FPS... what?!
 
So it's 12/20 (actually I'm lying because I'm on the West coast and it's still 12/19 right now but humor me) when is the sale starting? The thread title says 12/20!

Sorry, no one has asked in the last couple of pages so figured I would head it off for a bit. :p

The problem with games like Duke Nukem Forever and Diablo 3 is that when you've waited like 75% of Idiotekque's life span for a sequel you kind of expect a little more.

So I'm going to guess that you don't own any Iron Maidens (the only all-female Iron Maiden tribute band) albums? ...and have probably missed the joy of Scandinavian Metal.

Sounds like you're losing it in your old age. =) (Though I must be older than you.) I never got into the spinoff stuff. Sonic was fast in the context of all the slower paced games (in Arcade, consoles, & computers) that preceeded it. By modern standards Golden Axe is downright leisurely. Ghosts'n Goblins (Makaimura) still maintains it's oh-crap nature.
