Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

One thing to note about the Squenix sale: If you pre-order the new Tomb Raider, you get 25% off the Squenix pack, bringing it to a very solid $60. In other words, if you've pre-ordered it, we expect you to help everyone else out
I hope this means we get a kickass Deus bundle deal!
People still don't have this? They were selling HR for like $5 during the Winter sale. And while the original is better than HR, Invisible War is horrible so I'd pass unless a bundle price is cheaper than buying the other two solo.
1) Anyone know if the Tomb Raider pack gives giftable copies if i own a fe?
2) Is the Chivalry free weekend broken?
I just downloaded it about 15 minutes ago. It was in my library or there is a link in the top right deal box.

I'll defend Invisible War.

It is a game that was perfectly fine when it was released but had to live in the original's shadow. It does not hold up today, but the vitriol aimed at it is unreasonable.
Love that you can see past messages and whatnot now. Now the the chat just needs a file sending function...
Didn't even notice that lol. & agreed

Alright please go easy on me I'm new to PC games, but does the Free Chivalry weekend mean it's only free for the weekend to play or it's free as in I get to keep it as long as I download it while it's free? Does that make sense? Like is the game being given away for free or is it a trial weekend?

Edit: Nevermind, I'm stupid, didn't read

It's only free to play this weekend. Once the weekend is over, you can still have it downloaded (technically you can have any game downloaded on Steam), but you won't be able to play it after that point.

I just wish Invisible War did NOT have Unified Ammo.

But it's paying $11 more than preordering at GMG, so it's only a $9 savings total.

SO glad I didn't blind buy Chivalry during the winter sale, went through all the training and played it for a couple of hours and was having no fun at all. All that block, feint business is nonsense when 80% of the time you get ganked by someone from the side as soon as you get a good duel going.

I prefer Milton's version (Paradise Lost).

I had a completely opposite experience with chivalry. I've put about 20 hours into this game and I still love it. It is a very refreshing multiplayer experience, free from the run and gun that saturates the market. Run and chop is a lot more fun:) The game can get totally intense depending on map and amount of players. The game can be very challenging initially and this can be a put off for some. I am looking forward to all the newcomers this weekend.
Can anybody tell me the real end date of tomb raider pack?

It says 48ish hours.
That's probably correct. They ran all of the Christmas sale "daily deals" for 48 hours, and the weekend sale did start around 6 hours ago.

It seems like it's scheduled to end late Sunday afternoon/evening. I think that's as planned, but the scheduled end time is kind of odd.

Page 666. Wow, how many days has it been since new thread? Averages like what 500 posts per day at this rate? :s

It's a "day" in "Valve time".

Missed it.

I noticed that I couldn't bring up my overlay with Chivalry today. Dunno if that's my pc, the new beta client or what. Also, tons of fodder. Woo.

Well, atheist ain't satanist.

My goodness at Max Payne 3 being 30GB.

I had a weird error on steam a minute ago.

Went to go redeem a key, and Steam gave me a pop-up window telling me my disc drive was open, which it wasn't. Then I closed it (the error window) and it gave me a more sternly worded warning along similar lines. Then I closed that one and it opened the key activation window.

Just kind of bizarre in a funny way.

Anyone ever get that?

I'm enjoying a well-read audiobook version these days
Any good celebrity read audio books of Paradise Lost out there? Ian McKellen or Jeremy Irons or something?

Edit: I think it's crucial to point out that Jeremy Irons is the reader on the audiobook version of Lolita. I want you to remember that every time you see him in a film from here on out.

To each his own and whatnot. In my three minutes of gameplay I was spawn killed ten times by dudes bunny hoping with lances or poleaxes or something. Mount & Blade with slightly better graphics, less options, and a worse presentation.

I just received this in a GGG mailer:

If you fancy a massive 39% saving on Aliens: Colonial Marines then grab our voucher: LV-426 (valid until 4 p.m. (GMT) February 4th)

Their site currently has the game priced at $38.49, but the coupon discount is relative to the base price of $49.99, so the price is $30.49.

As far as I am aware, the lowest price for a preorder before this was $35 at GMG around a week ago. (I don't keep track of preorders, so check for yourself if it matters!)

tl;dr: Aliens: Colonial Marines preorder for $30.49 at GetGamesGo with coupon LV-426.

If you had watched the latest trailer , you might have second thought on ordering.

I've never pre-ordered any game, and I have no intention of starting now.

Thanks for the heads up! Got a few keys to make giveaways out of now. :)

BAH Steam trolled me pretty hard, got an email stating that Quantum Conundrum was 100% off price -0.01, disappointment washed over me as I saw it for only 50% off. Boo

Edit: Actually still shows that way in my wishlist.

You get emails from Steam? Hmmm, they never write....

There's an option for you to be emailed about deals that affect your wish list.

Ok, I've just finished The Cave, which took me around 4 hours in total. It's... alright. Not great, not bad, just alright.

You have a choice of three from seven characters to choose from for your adventure. I took the Knight, the Hillbilly, and the Adventurer. Each playthrough starts the same way and ends the same way, but you have three small "story" sections bespoke to each character, which makes specific use of that character's special ability (the Knight has a shield ability, for example). The story sections are amusing enough and some of the puzzles got me stuck for a while, but overall it just feels a bit... undercooked. It's like it could've been just something a bit more.

The style is cool, it's reasonably funny in places, it's just not as good as I wanted it to be. Maybe I've misjudged it and I'm not their target audience, it does have a certain charm to it, I just felt like I was playing through it to complete it rather than to see what the story did.

Unless you're absolutely dying to play it - in which case you've probably already bought it - I'd really wait for a 50-75% off sale (probably the latter).

TL: DR; there's better Double Fine games available. It's not bad, just not as good as it could've been.

I got that same thing yesterday. It said that the drive F was not available. After rebooting all was fine.

They send you emails warning you about games on your wishlist that are on sale.
