Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

It's all good ;) I like that this is more of a general "talk about PC gaming thread".

Also - surprise Midweek Madness(?)

Legend of Grimrock - 66% off ($5.09)

Have they changed the MSRP/RRP/recommended pricey thingy for Alice: Madness Returns?

Last time it was a daily it hit -80% and it was super cheap in the UK, I seem to recall doing a million* trades for people.

* - well, ten?

Nope. Still 49,99€ in EU.

I spotted that. RIDIKULUS!

If any EU CAGs want Alice, it's cheapest in the US so ask here and I'm sure somebody will help you out.

So I played some Dungeonland as a 3 person party (No DM as 4th was gone) and the game is pretty fun. Not many levels, but can definitely suck up some time while playing with others. I do not recommend playing without other people though and I recommend 3 people (You + 2 Others) or a max party of 4 to bring in a DM.
Fixed.
If you're playing L.A. Noire, that is.
Loved how bad the AI driving was in that game.

It made total sense when you had your first partner (who was an alcoholic) drive.

Woah, woah, woah. The only reason that I have a 360 and a PS3 for exclusives. Plus I'm into PC gaming as well. I mean look.
I'd be all over that if it had Alice 1 like the origin version :(.
Yeah, that's why I bought it on Origin (Complete Collection). I don't know if Steam will ever get this definitive version with the original game.

A bit off topic but guys and gals when does the steam summer sales normally start? Here in South America summer already started but I don't know when it will do on the North.

I'm not being a jerk because I play a decent amount on my 360, but the last 5 games you played on 360 were definitely not exclusives.

Alright co-op games that my friends have and I've only been a PC gamer for ~2 months.

I'm on my second night of Deadlight and it's starting to outstay its welcome. I spent 25 minutes on some stupid fucking section
trying to outrun a helicopter
and now I'm kinda playing just to get to the end.

I can see where some of the "not so great" comments come from now. It's not a bad game, but if I'd paid full price for this I'd be disappointed. At least it's given me a gazillion achievements. :applause:

It's not February yet so this doesn't count.

Wait, so if I hold back until February the 1st, 00:01 hours, and then complete it, does that count?

*strokes imaginary beard*

Exactly. I've got one mine left to sweep, but I'm not sweeping it for another two days ;)
I'm a jerk, and I don't stay in contact with other humans.

No wonder my backlog is getting EVEN BIGGER and EVEN MORE ridiculous!

I need to post LESS on these message boards.
Oh, and buy LESS games.

Yeah, that'll all probably never happen, though... ;)
Has anyone here bought anything from Direct2play before? They have DMC for $19.99.

Without commenting on the good or bad nature of it, they sell Russian keys. I believe they send you a scan of the key to enter.

I tried entering your key and gouged the fuck out of my monitor screen. This is what happens when you try and save a few bucks.

The link on that was "/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/7-ways-to-get-in-on-the-matryoshka-doll-trend/4_russian-to-get-home-key-covers_7-ways-to-get-in-on-the-matryoshka-doll-trend". Woman who runs that website, y u no name it "key"?

Yo, what's the name of that program that lets you use an 360 controller in games that don't usually support controllers. It let's you map the keybord functions to the buttons on your controller or something like that.

I'd google it, but I'm not even sure how to phrase the question.

Xpadder is the best, but it's not free.

JoyToKey is a free option, but it annoys the heck out of me.

Thanks man. Xpadder was the one I was looking for.

Decided to pass on Alice: Madness Returns during the Winter Sale. Would buy it now but only have $4.15 left in Steam Wallet. Tempted to grab a $20 Steam card while I'm at a Gamestop later but not really sure if I want to. I already have the game + the original on the PS3. Really loved the game too.

Decisions, decisions . . .
I'd be all over that if it had Alice 1 like the origin version :(.
You can also redeem your Steam key on Origin. My understanding is that this will give you the original Alice on Origin as well, but I haven't installed to test this yet.
It doesn't let you redeem it on Origin or it doesn't give you the original Alice?
Doesn't give you the original Alice.
yeah XPadder is the best, I found a crack for it lol...

I don't think talking about piracy is exactly looked well upon here.
It's not =/

Obviously he found an Xpadder CD somewhere... but it was cracked and would not work. It's sad how careless people are with physical media these days.

I like Xpadder quite a bit, Joy2Key is ok for just dpad and buttons though

Im gonna hide out in this thread for a while........growing resistance in the Amazon thread.....lol

Shady site. Sells scans of keys. If you prefer to keep your purchases legit/trouble-free, avoid. The only recognized legit sellers for most CAGs is Steam/Amazon/GamersGate/GreenManGaming/GetGamesGo/GoodOldGames/Gamefly/GameStop/Origin.

Logitech Profiler (for those of us with Logitech pads).

Don't get me started, I spend hours in the lab, collected a bunch of wireshark dumps, burned them to a dvd. When I got back to my computer, it wouldn't read the dvd. There was visible manufacturing defect over the last few mm of written track (where the file index is). >.> Frelling optical media.
