Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Oh yes! I lost a fair chunk of my life to that game.
To date, this is the worst Steam sale ever. And this is actually day four!
agreed

but looks like they are just warming us up since it is winter
I actually think it would be cool if she, and more women in general, did work on games.
I'd just like to add to this that I'm happy Jade Raymond is real. She gave us Assassin's Creed and is head of Ubisoft Toronto. And yes, I enjoyed the first AC.

Also, this sale is lackluster.
so guys what are the chances that a trine complete collection/frozenbyte collection will end up 75% off?
99.99%

Guys can we all vote for Resident Evil 5 for the community's choice sale? I have yet to see it go under $10 and the other choices have been on sale many times before.

No.

I voted for this just for you, Hunter Helmsley. I hope you enjoy your dumb NPC getting her ass shot all the time. Sheva Asslead is more like it.

And if you don't get the title back, I'm gonna create 50 accounts and vote for something else just to spite you.

You can call it lackluster, but really, only 3 games on my wishlist have even been in either daily or flash deals so far (I bought one of those games.) It is still pretty early.

I played RE5 on the PS3 and I have to say the game really annoyed me. The side-kick female character seemed to always be in my way and I just couldn't get into it.
Killing Floor DLC jumped to 50% off halfway through the flash sale... annoying, I was trying to buy some.
Wow, that is annoying -- was actually considering the guy who drops money. Seems like the Ash Harding one is still 75% off.
Yes, but the Steam sale is busting more shit than an incontinent man at a chili cookoff.
Someone is making good use of her "word-a-day" calender.
Eh, RPG Maker XV Ace or whatever was on sale, so I'm content. Main thing I wanted on Steam this sale.
I agree

Now I'm just waiting for it to pull a Jade Empire and be 75% off the day these sales end
I dont mind paying $1 for it at all, but the coupon doesnt work no matter what.
Dead coupon = no sale. I was going to pick up a copy for myself, but even $1 was pushing it, (it'd probably only be boosting my game count,) so there's no way that I'll pay more for it.
That's the issue with the Bloodsucker Pack, there is no built in toggle. It is -not- activated from the phone-cheats-menu. Steam auto-installs all DLC, and SRTT isn't one of the few games that allows you to use with DLC to load.

Edit: And thowing human shields is always a blast, a later base-game upgrade allows you to throw farther =D -3vil-

Yeah, I probably spent an hour the first time -- I didn't realize everything was changeable later. I also think the SRTT character customization is the most fucking awesome I've seen. I also like how SRTT *doesn't* enforce gender stereotypes (e.g. these are mens hairstyles, these ware women's hairstyles) at all (e.g. you can make a butch dyke with a goatee).
Oh sweet, after looking into it further, the "full package" on consoles is missing 2 DLC, and one of them is the blood suckers pack, so I'll just stick with the console version I already own.

Debating on Mount and blade.
I really only want Warband...
Napoleonic wars online looks fun though
Warband> the first game
From what ive seen fire and sword isnt that great.

Warband is pretty good, I only play Napoleonic Wars when I get around to playing it though I suck at the base game.

you can still throw people with the dlc. I have it and its fine, I usually roll with crap loads of aggro though LOL. When you have at least 1 tank/1 jet shooting at you its a good option

I did start to skip all upgrades that make you stronger though(I didnt realize ammo upgrades will eventually give you unlimited ammo, thats a bit boring), I still ragdoll when a vehicle hits me...its hilarious. Take shit loads of fire damage etc. too
Anyone do a 4-pack of Super Street Fighter IV: AE? I can't find anyone in group buy.
I'm up for a copy.
Warband is pretty good, I only play Napoleonic Wars when I get around to playing it though I suck at the base game.
Hows online? is there a good number of people playing it to have a couple full servers?
Whats some people opinions on mount and blade?
Warband is good fun. It's sort of a cross between Sid Meier's Pirates! and Medieval: Total War with some light RPG elements thrown in. Wander the landscape looking for bandits or enemy armies to attack (or flee from), fight in a first person view while commanding your armies, capture castles or towns, recruit special NPCs in taverns with skill sets to help your armies, perhaps try and get married, etc. It has a real "Ok, I'll quit after this fight... wait, let me sell this junk and buy more food... hey, I could probably capture that army... I should get near my main city before I quit... Why is the sun coming up at 10pm -- oohh..." quality to it.

It also has 100 sliders when building your character and, no matter what, you'll look like you were carved out of a potato. There's also a multi-player which I understand is great fun if that's your bag but I haven't played it.

I can't speak for the other two titles.
Killing Floor DLC jumped to 50% off halfway through the flash sale... annoying, I was trying to buy some.
I saw that as I was browsing on my phone. When I went up to the desktop to check it out a little more the prices starting flipping on them. Needless to say I passed on anything that didn't stay 75%.
Ten bucks says Anal Wake wins the community vote.
Horrible visual there...
I just bought Viking: Battle for Asgard from GamerGate for the Steam key and got this message:

"Your serial(s) will be available in about 10 minutes. In the meantime, you can start downloading the game."
Got that today for the first time.
You do realize people only have a finite amount of money to spend on games and if they spend it all at amazon/gamestop/walmart before steam offers the good deals, then steam is the loser right?
Yeah, I don't remember previous sales starting with four days of ass. These deals have been objectively poor compared to other retailers or recent sales from the past couple weeks. There's been a couple bright spots but it's not just "I already have too many games so I'm not excited" but rather "$17.99 for that? But it was $12.49 on GMG yesterday!"
Now it's Amazon > GMG > Steam > GamersGate (without stuff-ups, of course.)
No love for GetGamesGo...
http://store.steampowered.com/app/55230/ You can pick and choose DLCs on the game's main page, although if you're going to buy more than a few it's probably cheaper to just pick up the full package.
Thanks for the answer, I was expecting to buy all the DLC but not the base game. I think I have no choice  btw is the dlc worthwhile?
$0.50 Death rally!
Is that the price somewhere I wouldnt pay more than 1$ for that. ALso I thought scribblenauts was steam big picture but looks like they have removed all controller support.

The season pass stuff is decent when discounted, each one adds around an hour of activities. The rest is mostly cosmetic, though the Shark Attack pack does add a pretty awesome gun.

Glad I'm not the only one disappointed by the sales. then again, Amazon, GG and GMG are trying really really hard to steal Steam's business. And it's working. Very well.
Do you know if there's a way to buy all the DLC for SRTT rather than buying the Full Package if you already own the Base game?
Season Pass will be 4.99 on Amazon starting 12/25 here per Tony (Amazon Rep) at the Amazon deals thread.
Is Killing Floor worth it?
Yep, quite fun. The perk system will take you a long time to progress and build up your character.
Think Killing Floor would still be fun solo? My girlfriend won't go for the gory gruesome games, and I don't really have PC gaming friends, they're all Xbox.
No, not nearly as fun or practical to play solo. Playing in pubs is fine though.
you can just skip to Portal 2 and not miss much. It is fundamentally the same game with a few new twists.
First game is pretty short (can be finished in one or two sittings), will be a good primer for the somewhat more advanced tactics used in Portal 2, the story in 2 will make more sense, and you will finally understand why everyone has been calling cakes liars for the past 5 years.
Season Pass will be 4.99 on Amazon starting 12/25 here per Tony (Amazon Rep) at the Amazon deals thread.
Thanks for the answer, currently the Season Pass is 4.99 on Steam as well, nevertheless is a better option to buy it on Amazon for the 5$ credit. I was expecting the full package without the base game (that I already own) though. I guess there's no option :whistle2:k
Glad I'm not the only one disappointed by the sales. then again, Amazon, GG and GMG are trying really really hard to steal Steam's business. And it's working. Very well.
The main reason Amazon has gotten so much business from me the last 6 months is that all of their packs are priced very well AND I get separate keys for most everything in a bundle. The fact that Steam screws me over upon buying a bundle, by not giving duplicates of games I own, is a huge turn off.
Is that the price somewhere I wouldnt pay more than 1$ for that. ALso I thought scribblenauts was steam big picture but looks like they have removed all controller support.
Or you're remembering incorrectly. It never had controller support.

Soooo any moba players know of any decent guides on learning to play Dota 2? Lol I just tried a match and let me say probably the worst 45 min ever I was dead most of the time. Yeah I suck.

This. It would be a nice if I could just buy the SRTT full package and keep the base game (that I already own) to gift. Even on Amazon, that did a PM on the same package, there's a single key for the whole package

Ok guys...blades of time or binary domain?? Both similarly priced, both games I'm curious about. They'll probably go on my backlog but I'd like to get one of them while I hold out for both Fallout games to hit -75%
Or you're remembering incorrectly. It never had controller support.
Thanks for the heads up about lack of controller support in scribblenauts that drops it to a bargain bin title price for me, will wait for 5 and under. Consoles win again, Ill just grab it for Wii-U.

Just a heads up, it looks like Amazon matched Steam's price on SR3: Full Package, as it's 7.49 as well now (instead of the 12.49 it was supposed to be when it went live on 12/25.) Also, Walking Dead for 12.49 is live early, possibly another Steam match (was supposed to go live on the 27th.) Works out well for those with Amazon credit (like me). Plus you get the 5.00 credit for both.

Looks like Amazon is beating the shit out of Steam this year, would have never thunk it.
