Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Binary Domain is the better game but it's constantly in some Sega pack at Amazon or GetGamesGo and whatnot. You'll see it for the same or better price every month really.
Ok guys...blades of time or binary domain?? Both similarly priced, both games I'm curious about. They'll probably go on my backlog but I'd like to get one of them while I hold out for both Fallout games to hit -75%
I love Blades of Time. I finally finished it on normal this evening. BD has been in my backlog for months, though I've been meaning to get around to it. IMO, it's not a either/or they are totally different games. If you you want a DMC game then BoT, if you want a TPS then DB. IMO, don't get BoT if you don't have a controller (I could be wrong, but I am admittedly contorller biased).
Why is mount and blade such a random ass price.... I would buy it in a heart beat for 7.50 but that extra 1$ is just throwing me off. I cant justify it.
That price is for the whole series though. I would advise picking up one of the games in the series first to see if you even like the game and pick up the rest during the next big sale.

I want warband and nepolonic wars. just not the rest....

Sometimes I hate the steam sale. I am sitting here with the Two Worlds Collection in my shopping cart, fully prepared to buy it...and I really have no idea why. I have very little interest in the game (the tower defense one looks kind of neat maybe?) and yet...I am going to spend two lunches worth of money on it.

What the hell.
This. It would be a nice if I could just buy the SRTT full package and keep the base game (that I already own) to gift. Even on Amazon, that did a PM on the same package, there's a single key for the whole package
Well the publisher is the one providing the keys, so I am not surprised that a "complete" pack is only a single key. I was more alluding to publisher/theme/bundle packs, and that Amazon always provides individual keys, sometimes even for expansions/dlc.
Looks like Amazon is beating the shit out of Steam this year, would have never thunk it.
Please, don't be mad at me, as I'm not a native english speaker myself and probably do a lot of grammar errors on my posts, but your post reminded me of...

Anyway, you're absolutely right: as I'm relatively new to the whole DD business, I thought that Steam would've been the undisputed leader in "cheaparsery" due to its constant flow of offers, sales and discounts on almost everything in its catalog... instead, while assembling my library in search of cheap ways to obtain the games I wanted, I found myself buying them off many other online retailers, especially Amazon.

For me, DD is a boon since I don't have to cope with shipping and customs that, more often than not, compensate a good offer to the bad side of the scale, so I'm really glad that more and more retailers try and frequently succeed in matching Steam deals... now, if only I could afford an half-decent rig to play most of the titles I already bought... :bouncy:

M&B and Warband both have demos.

Skip M&B, only Warband is worth playing.

Out of curiousity, where do you get lunch? I can't get away from the roach coach for less than $5, usually $7.50?

Also, M&B vanilla and Warband are basically the same game. Warband has multiplayer and some additional content/better engine. There are more mods for vanilla, though.

Supposedly it has terrible DRM. That has made me hold off until it's at least $5 or DRM free.

Same Binary domain sits in my library, I tried it once and found it to be meh. never heard alot of buzz about it either, Binary Domain, is NOT bad, but it is not great either. Id rather play Dead Pixels if that helps with understanding which is more fun. Thank this sold me on Blades of Time, been on the fence for awhile and keep hearing mixed reviews, DMC was a good comparison, while not the same, its the style that I like.

I know that feeling. If it helps I really enjoyed those two games. They brought some intresting things to rpgs for me. Like the card system and combining weapons. However, they are not amazing games by any means the voice acting and stories are horrible.

I have 2 worlds it has the weirdest drm when you launch the game it says unable to continue until you enter the key, I worry what happens if their server goes down, or what if I have to reinstall it. For those on the fence I would advise also waiting until this issue is resolved. It works and is pretty hassle free, but I was sitting on the edge of my couch worried it might not work. Most gamers may not like the idea of buying something wondering if it will work or not.

I went 8 month spending roughly $0.16 a day on lunch. Though it was more out of necessity rather than preference.

thats the thing Im not interested in vanilla or ffire and steel. I just want warband and nepolionic wars... if nepolionic wars was 75% i would buy them seperate... Plus this is coming out of my 40$ steam wallet pool and 8.75$ does not divide evenly into that for me...

Ramen!!!!!

Sounds awful. You would think they would have changed it by now with all the Steam forum complaints (and probably lost sales).

I'm lucky if I can get Maruchan or Nissan ramen for better than $0.17 these days, back in the good old days $0.10.

Wawa? Which you will not have heard of if you don't live on the east coast.

And I mean the whole collection, so twelve dollars...so two six buck lunches.

/phew I feel relieved. $12, two $6 lunches. Unless I bring my own, I'm kinda hostage to the roach coach unless I can spare an hour to go pickup lunch. I'm in ʞali.

Not to spam this topic with posts. I've still got 3 Dota 2 copies left. If there is anyone out there who doesn't have it already and wants it, just add me on Steam. My user id is Aerc. Completely free.

Edit: Message me after I accept your request and let me know you want Dota.

Why the hatin' on Death Rally? It's more than worth a dollar. There aren't enough arcadey top-down car destruction/racing games out there, and Death Rally does a damn good job at it. Pretty good customization too.

The coupons don't work anymore, and the publisher doesn't care.

Every time there are coupons, then a sale rolls along, the coupons get deactivated. Or most of the time. Same thing with SS3 in the Summer Sale.

They'll probably work just fine after the sale.
Killing Floor DLC jumped to 50% off halfway through the flash sale... annoying, I was trying to buy some.
Goddammit. Well, that's what happens when I sleep on the discounted DLC 3 sales in a row. It'll probably repeat as a daily before the end, but I guess 75% off the newest was a mistake, and won't be.

Also, Episode 5 (TWD) redeemed the whole Season a little bit, but honestly, tugging at heartstrings is one of the easier things to pull off in a narrative.

except they expire before the end of the sale.
Thanks for the responses everyone. Blades of Time it is.
Brotip: Get a 360 controller and/or a 360 wireless adapter. You won't really enjoy yourself using a keyboard for this game...

I enjoyed it significantly more with keyboard+mouse. I found aiming with a controller for gun and the quickly-move-between-the-flower-things sections to be rage-inducing. :wall:

Alan Wake was an insta-buy for me.

Well done. :applause:

Too bad vanilla Alan Wake was not discounted the same, would have been nice to pick that one up for 88% off too.

I'm really starting to like those Swedish fuckups.

Out of appreciation to y'all, I will not repost to SD. You have no idea how hard it is for me to say that.

I posted this in the GG thread, but I'll post it here too. If you like Alan Wake, you'll like this, but be warned, as you literally have to play the exact same game three times in a row to complete the story. It was fun, but it was incredibly monotonous and repetitive by the end of it.
YAY for GG price mistakes! Hurry and dig and let's see what else they screwed up.
I sorted by Steam, PC only, and didn't see any other prices that were out of whack.

Eh, what the hell. Don't want the game, but I used my blue coins from the Bethesda pack to pick it up for free. I'll just use it as trade fodder.

I just was short of enough blue coins myself. I never have bought anything from GG except their price mistakes.
I actually bought it using the blue coins I got via the last purchase I made at GG, lol.
Hell, I bought $5 in blue coins for $4.75 with IAMANELDERGEEK, then put two Alan Wakes, the STCC racing game and the Sonic Adventure II DLC (I don't have the base but will get it eventually).

Used IAMANELDERGEEK again and paid in blue coins since I had a little bit to cover the balance over 5000 ($5). Also got one free with the buy 4 get 1.

So grand total I spent was $4.75. :p

*Edit: Oh and the purchase gave me 259 more blue coins then I star rated them all for 150 more blue coins.

You sly dog. Literally.
Is anyone else's Steam client totally broken? Mine keeps showing Chivalry as the top seller!
Why does that mean it's broken? It's a daily deal and the 4-packs are pretty popular.
